I will never forget when my band played this during my Junior Year of high school for district large group contest. My dad was my director and right before the big ending, we locked eyes and we knew at that moment that we played really well and no matter what score we got, we will always have that moment.
I love this song. This is a beautiful masterpiece . My middle schools advanced symphonic band is playing this for the band masters convention in Asheville n.c. this year. We also played this for the convention in Clinton and made straight a's and superiors. Go MWMS Mustangs!!!!
1:57 I'm a clarinetist, and with all those damn sixteenth notes, I presumed we were a focus. NOPE! All that freneticism is just garnish for the horns. Story of our freaking lives lmao
I remember when we played this for an outdoor concert, but it was freezing cold and windy in the middle of April. APRIL. This was the best song out of the selection that we had.
When I was in middle school, we played this song. It was by far the most difficult piece I played that year and yet the most fun. I played Tuba and we had to learn how to cycle our breathing for the start.
what I love about this piece is that everyone has something good, in a lot of wind band pieces you will get an amazing part and everyone else will have some mildly interesting bits but on the whole thier part is uninteresting but everyone who comments on here loves thier parts. Ive seen trumpet player comment, a flautist, a clarinet player, a french horn player. I could go on. Reineke writes the most amazing music giving everyone something fun to play which is very rare talent.
I played this back in middle school, in a summer camp with a lot of talented people. Absolutely gorgeous song. I remember when we played our end-of-camp concert, right after we got played the last note there was a mom in the crowd who just said "Wow," perfectly in time with the beat 😂
At first, I didn't like this song. I got the music and played through it and thought it was ehh. I mean it was E flat scale over and over in sixteenth notes. Not the most challenging run I've encountered, but as we started playing as a band I really started to enjoy this piece. It has so much dynamic and meaning behind it. Plus, it sounds cool when all the runs are put together with everyone and its fast and clean. Love it!
my school's wind ensemble is just learning this song and it is amazing. I play the clarinet and the sixteenth nothes are pretty tricky but its so cool! :)
@HUNGERGAMESLOVER15 I played this back in April, but if I remember correctly I played bells (same as glock), chimes, crash cymbals, triangle, and bass drum. It's all about positioning the instruments together and knowing when to move to what instrument.
Trombone part in this is pretty cool, if only the acoustics in my school's auditorium were any good then this would sound professional with us playing it.
@cfhscheer you people must be pretty good if you are playing this accurately. This is 3.5 (or even B400 in some competitions) so it's more targeted for high school grade 9 or higher people.

A flute screeched towards the beginning, I can't even
I heard it too
Yeah we do that
You can’t even what? Play the flute?
Trumpet Section, where you AT!? :)
God i loved 1st trumpet in this song
i was the soloist and it was quite epic
🙋♀️

lmao i feel u
Trombone parts never have 16th notes. This doesnt apply toward this song. We have MELODY🤯
Same!!! I play oboe and this part sucksssss!!!
Amen to that.. Good lord. It was those runs that I remember to this day.
Okay we play our hearts out and it is just sprinkles to the melody!
I love this song. We are playing this for festival. Go saxophones!!!!!
Flutes are ruling the world!!! Those 16th notes are my life
Too bad we're not the center of attention. We get the fun part and yet the trumpets have the melody :'(
Ayanna Lewis saxophones have some of them too
So do oboes and clarinets
I'm a trumpet player and I loved playing this song in band it was my favorite piece to play
~trumpet player
3:35-4:00 is my favorite part in the entire piece. I was 1st bassoon and sat next to a oboe player that played this part beautifully.
Same man!
I playing the crash cymbal part there. This part is abosultely wonderful.
That trumpet part was a bitch
I’m an oboist and that part truly is amazing

진심으로 찾던 곡...드디어 찾았다ㅠㅠ
나에겐 정말 추억이 많은 곡...벌써 5~6년 만인가..들으면서 소름과 눈물이 난다..
I love this song so much! So much fun to play, especially the 16th note part. :)

Fellow French horns where you at ;)
A few years late to the party, but I’m here!
those 16th notes from the flutes sound like the flute part from Sedona, another song by Steven Reineke
There are a lot of hits in this song that show pieces of other songs of his. That’s just the kind of style he uses
Yes and the bass line sounds the same with the eflats and bflats.
I also noticed that 1:51 - 1:58 sounded almost identical to 00:58 - 1:06 in Sedona.
OMG the 'clarinet' was HELL and it kill my fingers LOL
go flutes!!! we are playing this song!
Our concert band played this song last night at a music festivals and we go excellent on this peace and west river jibble
already a month into high school concert band and we have been playing this song in rehearsal for that time and I love it never gets old
Enjoyed this tremendously as I am a collector of songs about The River of Life!

We played this every year for graduation. My senior year, I played the snare drum part. It's a fun song to play. One of my favorites we did.
Sounds like the score to a movie. Like a mix of back to the future and shenandoah.
I'm playing this at my middle school and it is one of the hardest pieces of music ever but I love it
I've recently discovered this composer and his works. I think he's one of my new favorites. :)
my band teacher put this on our wind ensemble repertoire, since our winter concert was yesterday. i cant wait to start playing this!!
Playing this in festival. Really excited.
The Gentleman me tooo im playing tomorrow
Marisol Ugalde That's great. Good luck to you guys.

its beautiful the sound
i have to play this tomorrow for a covid safe band thing and i’m gonna be the only trumpet there. pray for me y’all😅
teacher gave us this song today, soooo excited!!!
Played this my 8th grade year... I think I might pull it out and play it again(:
were playing this for our band concert!
Love it
I could listen to this all day, every day.

I wish they had the sheet music in the video as well.
This is an enjoyable song.
The freaking tuba part. Have to hold like 10 straight whole notes in the beginning. Obviously I couldn't :)
+Jhockey21 they are more than just one and they stagger their breathing
its easy not as bad as you think if you play tuba for awhile you getting better breathing abilities
@@edmyers6919 Lol Bass Clarinet has the same part but requires a bit less air. I was trying not to laugh at the poor tubas though RIP.
I did 😀
@@thomaslack8610 I was gonna say - they just need to stagger breathe with the bass clarinets! That would be me!!
This is actually really fun to play on trumpet
Ez for you to say. We have to play so many 16th notes!
we played this in band it was awesome and i got to play the trumpet solo :D
my school's wind ensemble is just learning this song and it is amazing. I play the clarinet and the sixteenth nothes are pretty tricky but its so cool! :)
Can't wait to play this in band tomorrow
Euphoniums where you at?
Can't wait to learn this in band! We get to start really playing it tomorrow! :D
P.S. Oboes Rock!

r/madlads
HECK YEAH
This is Midway High School's opener for their 2014 marching band season!
I thought of Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Pokemon and countless of other things from my childhood.
YEAH WOOOOH
I really wanna play dis
There's a ....... TENOR SAX SOLO!!!! My life is complete.
lol its 3 notes. keep it in your pants man
Dude Bassoon also has that solo
I enjoy this.
I had the trumpet solo in that piece when our band played it. I never knew why I got first part for that piece only...
My school played this the semester I left to go to another school, I wish I hadn't have missed that semester.
@HUNGERGAMESLOVER15 I played this back in April, but if I remember correctly I played bells (same as glock), chimes, crash cymbals, triangle, and bass drum. It's all about positioning the instruments together and knowing when to move to what instrument.
R.I.P at measure 48
Happens to the clarinets too. I should know cause I play clarinet and played this piece two years in a row.
A bar after the trumpet and French horn solo, after the clarinet soli
Mallet part is epic: I have to switch between five different instruments.
Trombone part in this is pretty cool, if only the acoustics in my school's auditorium were any good then this would sound professional with us playing it.
Playing this for my freshmen EOY concert tomorrow, the 16th notes (flute player) are killing me but it's so much fun.
As a mucision who preformed the piece on flute, that was painfully hard to learn
have to play the Bell part (insert gun emoji)
🔫 here
yay trumpet solo!!
@anjellio clarinets have it too, i feel glad i took the bass clarinet part for this, the clarinets are practically dying in rehearsals
indiana jones instantly popped in my head. :D
i know right? best part
when is there a tenor sax solo??
It's a Bassoon solo only tenor plays if there's no basson
ive played this. that section was probably the hardest to do on flute. WIsh i woulda played it when i switched to oboe
We are playing this
My oboes where ya at??!
Janae' Walker crying on the floor bc runs are hard :’(
@@parkertait3639 You can't be right enough dude.... It suuuuuckksssss being an oboe and playing this
Me bc the flute 16th part is EXACTLY the same as the ones in Sedona, another Reineke piece
The big Mac band (mac Williams middle school) is playing this
That flute part is from sedona lol!!!!
In the beginning before the rest of the band comes in
i loved this song... some parts sound like pocahontas
good
Can't wait to put a video of the mwms band captains playing this song on here. I play all the instruments but I'll play Bari in the video!!!
This is sedona remake?
It kills our oboe too.. .. But she got better.
ER YEHHHH
no picc???
omg i know i played flute on this piece and my fingers were killing me afterwards!! lol
We almost played this 8n my 8th grade band... and then my director realized we sucked.
@rPWnzeL What do you mean? They played it.
Online District Band. 😀👍
Hey, me too! You from PA?
I played this for 8th grade LGPE. It was a pain in my butt to play those 16th notes (I’m a oboe)
Glock timing at the begging is a bitch! I have to do chimes and glock D:
@rPWnzeL there is a coda,
Go French Horn Solo!
Trombones?
i love this song. that sounds amazing but i think the low brass should've played out more before the saxophone played the melody.
1:40 SOUNDS LIKE A TRUE TRUE FRIEND FROM MY LITTLE PONY KIND OF
When your only in 8th grade and you see a hich C :O
what band is playing this here?
French Horns FTW! :)
I’m doing the snare part and it’s annoying
Anyone else find this similar to the robinhood theme song?
