  • My thoughts on the BMW 330e Touring. Is it better than the Mercedes C350e Estate.

    To answer your question, 330e because: today BMW, Audi (45, 55 etc) and others do not longer use numbers to tell us size on the engine, but what they perform. This is because you often can choose between petrol, diesel, hybrid and electrical but get about the same performance. So... the 330e is set up to performe about as 330i that also got a 2.0 by the way.
    Of course BMW could had put much more power into the 330e but they want an economical car. They use the same 2.0 petrol engine that you find in 330i but tuned it down. It got the same ps as earlier (252) but they boost 40ps for 10 sec probably to get approx the same 0-100 as the 330i.
    The petrol engine in the new 330e is also tuned down compared to the earlier 330e because the electrical engine is stronger.
    BMW could easy got 350 ps in the new 330e but they want it to stay economical. You can notice that when your battery is empty. It is not very thirsty at all if you try.

      Understood, thank you. They have also announced a 320e and 520e for the European markets. They would definitely work for the UK company car drivers.

      @@nadimtv jepp, and I guess the coming 545e sedan will be a dream with its 6cyl, close to 400 ps and 600Nm.
      I got a 330e touring xdrive as a company car and just love it. These hybrids are kind of ok priced in Norway so I could get all equipment. All packages, dravit grey wit Black rims, leather, sun roof, head up, laser, adaptive suspension etc etc. Its an absolute dream. It does not got the same comfort as a 5series but feels more sporty and fun👍

    Been driving BMW since 2006. Two Z4s, two 5 Series Estates, 435d Grand Coupé and my current drive, an X3 Diesel. Over this time, I have become used to BMW quality, finish, materials used and driving experience. My current X3 lease comes to an end in July this year so am currently looking for a new car. This time, it will be a hybrid. I thought it was time for a change so test drove the Mercedes GLS 30e. Disappointed would be putting it mildly. Plastic everywhere, even the air vents look and feel cheap. Overall interior quality is nowhere near BMW quality. The driving experience was good however. I will probably be staying with BMW and opting for this car, the 330e estate xDrive M-Sport package.

      The BMW is a great choice. Do consider the Land Rover Discovery Sport P300e PHEV, good alternative

    Once that battery runs out you're looking at 28mpg. I've had a 330e since August 2020.

    • @nadimtv
      @nadimtv  Před 3 lety +1

      I think as long as you charge it regularly long term you’ll be fine. Also depends on the mileage you do.

    • @mark6120
      @mark6120 Před 3 lety +2

      @@nadimtv Yes, I agree. My daily commute is 22 miles. Warm weather the battery returns about 28 miles. Cold weather you're lucky to get 20 miles.
      If I charge it fully once a day my MPG on a tank of fuel is about 48mpg.
      If you don't charge it at all then 28 MPG is fair with a mix of fast A roads and motorways.
      Awesome car though. Lovely to drive. Comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable with the kids and wife in the car. Smash it into sport and knock the gear selector over it turns into a cracking performance machine.
      More than enough power and grip....until it rains/snows/ice.
      Poor weather means Hyprid Pro mode and 1/3 of the throttle to stop you from wrapping your car round a tree.

      @@mark6120 Agree with what you are saying overall a great car and available in xDrive. I think the next car would be a better battery/petrol combination or completely scrapped and 100% electric. Enjoy the car and stay safe

      28mpg looks like pessimistic.
      In 12000km, the worst I've done is 8.5l/100km (33mpg) for a 800km trip in highways with a roof box and winter tires.

    • @mark6120
      @mark6120 Před 2 lety

      @Kirth Gersen I can assure you what it dropped down to. I tend to do long journeys as well as short drives to my office. It's the motorway speeds that kill my MPG. Still love it though.
