Just ordered the correct fluid off Amazon for $22 a 16.9 oz jug, Versatrak, AC Delco 10-4058 and an assortment of Hex to take off drain plugs, set of 32, for $25.. on my 2008 front n rear take about a Pint each, 1/10 oz difference, 16.9 and 17, bottles are 16.9oz... going to change out the transfer case and differential in case anyone ever topped off with 75-90 and bought an extra jug to top off if needed as this Versatrak fluid has special friction pack added that no other fluid possesses, so best to use what is recommended to avoid damage...
Update Oct 2021: so far so good, no issue. I know I used wrong fluid, versatrak is the correct fluid to use but unfortunately it is ridiculously expensive where I live. Thanks for watching
@@precisionbay6899 Update March 2023: smooth and quiet, no noise, no issue, it's been 4 years since last time I changed the fluid. Not sure how black/clean the fluid is right now as I haven't opened it to check.

@@D.I.Y I'm about to do this exact job to this exact transfer case. Well, an identical one anyway. Can you tell me what that inverse socket is called and what size you needed to buy? Princess Auto is such a life saver! Thanks for the video.
Hex male is what it called. Just buy the whole set as I don't remember the size. I put in motormaster synthe tic gear oil from Canadian tire because it has similar viscosity. People use royal purple but i think it is a lot thinner than the original Versatrak fluid
@@D.I.Y That's cool. I tend to agree with your assessment. Also I see no reason to be ridiculous and buy the dealer stuff. I figure they can't be so different. It's gear oil. Thanks so much for your answer. But how much did you put back in please? Cheers.
SO much misinformation on versatrac oil! My god how can anyone know? Got a 2005 Nox, so versatrac in the transfer case and synthetic 75W/90 in the rear?
Good video!
What size Allen head socket did you use for drain and fill plug
Thank-you
What size hex did you use ? You never said ?
How many oil need front diferential? And what kind Chevy equinox 2005
16 mm hex and 13mm socket will do.
Was this part of regular maintenance? My 2009 Equinox has 237k miles, and I'm wondering if I should do this.
Yes it's reg maintainance. Yes you should do it if you want it to last
By the way did you use teflon tape on the threads?
Looked like he did.

Princess auto in canada

What year is this Nox/ Torrent ?
2006

75W90 is good, don't waste your money on OE Versatrack
Wrong fluid. Transfer case takes only versatrak fluid eBay 24.00 dealer 50 up.
In Canada it's $90 from dealer only, no where else sells it
Been a while no issues at all
Synthetic gear oil from Canadian tire only $15 cad
thats not true bud
Amazon has it $22 for a 16.9 oz jug, best to use this specialty fluid as no other fluid has this specific friction pack added. AC Delco 10-4058
That's the transfer case wrong fluid you are using
