To this day I love the Family Guy episode where Stewie switched realities and suddenly they burst into something that looks like a very distant future. Well, it isn't. It's today but in a reality where Christianity never happened! And this would be true: if we could get rid of all religions, we could prosper in a future where science & logic dominates, where art is truly free. It'll be lovely.
But I guess this will take another century or so, if we truly enter a post-religious time.

    • @nINJAP3RUNA

@@CatraValentine It is not as black and white as you make it to be. Religion isn't all bad and might even be necessary but I admit that it is problematic.
People have a tendency to "believe" and lets say christianity for an example definately isn't the worst object of belief we have seen.
The problem of religion is the way that it is interpreted and used for power and not the core message of how to live a good life.
Some might say that we could have a guideline for good life without the bad of a religion. Well lets see.
Taking out the symbolism would make the doctrines easier to understand but would definately make it less gripping. It would turn a book of compelling stories into a book of law text and when did you last study the book of law?
I know what you are going to say next: but I haven't read *insert any holy book* since I was ten either. But stories go around through word of mouth. They are easier to remember and even people who can't read like children (this point was incredibly important in the past times) can listen and learn.
Your point of view is important to consider also but I hope that you read all of this and got some food for thought for yourself. If you're interested in more you should check out Jordan Petersons and Sam Harris' debate over religion.

But, I fought my 'religious war' already and I don't advice on if I'm 'interested in more'... thingys. Thank you.
I'm with Dawkins and Klein. We're supposed to live in a post-religious era now and should have finally overcome the burden to rely on fantasy text books, to tell us what's wrong or right. That's why 'we' invented moral & ethics and actual laws, that are further developed and refined everyday.
Whereas religion is stuck, because their shit is literally written in stone - although no one can prove it, just another one of those things you're supposed to 'believe'.
I do see the good sides, the humanitarian aids, the work in devastated countrysides... but it's a double edged sword. You're giving help but also bring it with the bible, so it's missionary work as well... so that these 'infidels' are finally brought to the lord. Disgusting.
We - as humanity - are smarter than that. And as I've already said: we had so, so many goddesses and gods, it's a clusterfuck of beliefs now and ppl are fighting and killing over 'the one' who is god. Disgusting even more so, since it's all made up by some duchebags in flamboyant coats and they're laughing at the petty things done by their sheep.
No... I'm done with relgion for good. You had your chance and lost. More evil than good has come out of this shit.

Actually I prefer going on heavy expansion first to get the land secure. So capital builds settlers non-stop and second cities will go for base buildings for growth like granary or water mill. For me the game is all about expansion and production. But as you don't have the industrial hub ready that early I often go for a commercial hub instead of a campus. Unless there is an awesome spot with nice adjacencies. Normally I try to get my science boosted with recorded history (+100% adjacency). So 2nd districts are often Campusses in places with high adjacencies. In my opinion commercial hubs are underrated. Because with that extra gold you get some sort of extra production. You can save up a bit if you fear a war might come and buy an archer in a threatened city or city center buildings in a strategically important city that you want up and running asap.

Turn 20-40 seems really early for a District. I agree that you need to rush a holy site if you want a religion and that an amazing location for a campus is an incentive to build one early, but an encampment isn't worth it until later in the game. At turns 20-40 it is better to pump out settlers, builders, enough military to deal with barbarians, maybe an extra scout and some buildings, like a monument, water mill and granary.

If you're on King or below, I think its still a fairly decent bet to go for Stonehenge, but on Emperor and up, the holy site is a much much safer bet because Stonehenge gets rushed by the AI and if you don't successfully build it, you'll likely be too far behind to get a prophet. It highly depends on your starting location. If you have enough wood around you and extra starting gold from a nice luxury ressource like diamonds, then you can just buy an additional Builder. In any case you want to get a builder first and go for Bronzeworking after Astrology. Then start Stonehenge after researching Astrology and chop whatever you can to boost your production. Don't wait for Magnus or next age. If you have nothing to chop and no super high starting production skip the stonehenge on higher difficulties. Because even if you get it first it comes with a rather high price. Instead of Stonehenge you can get out 2 Settlers. If your opponents are no stupid AIs but real players you will end up with at least one city less, just because someone else expanded earlier in your direction. For me recommended religion rush is getting holy sites in your second/third/fourth city.

You don't really need encampent districts, certainly not to rush a nearby AI early. Just put the production into more units in that case. I'd say the only reason really to build an encampment is for great generals for a domination victory or if you're playing, say, Zulus or Mongols. It will delay your other districts. Also, you don't necessarily need to build a district super early. If you take an AI capital early, you can earn the state workforce boost that way.

Im new to the game and hve a few things Im looking up. I'll get threw the play list but maybe you can answer or direct me to a video or a time stamp or just comment.
    a few issues Im having
    1. When I place a city t site A and a city t site B city A will give me a scout in 8 days nd city B will give me a scout in 20 days by the time on City G , it'll will give me a scout in 200 days what determines these numbers? distance from the capital? or size of the continent?
    2. Ideally I want to make a good sized army or navy or both and I want to take them all out real fast how do I speed up the production of warriors, bowmen, scouts , ships and settlers? I feel like by the time I get threw the 8 days or whatever to make one troop person its just too slow. the other teams have huge fleets! like do I really have to wait 100 days just to have 10 troops?
2A when Im trying to build troops, since each town only does one thing at a time how do I know if I should focus on food or troops or schools or churches? what factors speed up me getting to the next thing on the things I can unlock tree? what fctors speed up troop production?
    3. Some times when I do move troops I have an easy time and some times I don't like some times I'll kick entire city's butt and take it down in 5 turns and some times the war just draws out. Some times my boats can hit a troop on the shore and some times they don't even target a troop.
    4. I need to learn how to use individual units to there best such as great generals, , merchants, military engineers, builders, monks, profits etc I always end up with a lot of units just doing nothing. I click on e every thing and they seem to do nothing.
I also have an issue with building 3 or 4 ships or 3 or 4 archers nd they go in, take out enemies and then they end up with nothing to do the rest of the game s the barbarians just suddenly go away and I never see them again. Every one else is friendly so I can't fight them
    5. People are always mad at me for unknown reasons even when I try not to start wars. Even if Im fighting in defense. They just get mad at me all the time. Also people love to build right next to me and they start taking things I really want for my self but I can't just attack them since there cities re already very quickly developed beyond what I can take easily.
So thats the stuff Im trying to figure out.
like what is the most valuable resource? science, gold, production, culture, housing? and how important is it to spend 30, 60, 100, 200, 10000 days on a wonder?

I don't think you should build early districts because they're earlier in the trees. You should focus building districts that favor your Civ as priority and then backfill certain districts that are unique to each individual city. Of course some Civ's are completely neutral when it comes to districts, like Rome or the Cree, and there are some that benefit from building certain districts last (like the Carnival/Entertainment Complex) for Brazil and Mapuche.

But once you unlock the later era districs, you already got enough population to get additional districts. Sure, you need a long-term plan and shouldn't spam out holy site, campus and encampent when you want a culture victory, but you need one of the 3 in pretty much any game, unless you play king difficulty or below.

It varies on a per-video basis (obviously a first district video will be aimed at a more beginner audience than one on something like production overflow). All videos are made with the intent of the advice applying in any difficulty though, all the way to deity.
