- Some of the best songwriting I've heard throughout Folk February and that says a lot considering how in-depth songwriting can be within the genre. With a soft delivery, sombre instrumentals and a short run time, Either/Or is a tight cohesive listen that is well worth checking out not just for Folk and Indie fans but for anyone interested in quality songwriting above all else.

either / or is a perfect first elliott smith album; after either / or it’s best to go chronologically the two albums before either or are more stripped back and folky, and the next 3 are a mix of that folky sound and a more rocky sound. my personal favorite is XO, I feel like it has the most variety.

Great react, I you hope listen to more of his albums on here. Just to answer some of your questions, Elliott played pretty much everything on all of his albums, I think there are few cases were other people played some stuff but it’s generally him, he was a human jukebox. Also he had a band called Heatmiser, they’re really loud and awesome. If you listen to his albums in order you’ll see how they go from very stripped back, mostly guitar and his voice. He’s later albums get much louder, more alt rock and Beatles sounds. It all amazing and you can’t miss. But please react to more Elliott. PS; can you turn up the sound of the songs alittle bit?

I'll most likely go in order of his career to see that musical trajectory. And yea the volume with the music is a hard thing to balance sometimes but I'll try to fix it up next time. Thanks 😊
Either/Or is such a wonderful album. I think it's popularity as a favorite or first introduction to Elliott is the fact that it represents both ends of his discography meeting in a perfect balance. In my opinion however, the more stripped back and raw Self Titled and grand and expertly produced XO are far better. Even his last two works in my opinion are such wonderful records and truly I think his entire catalog is remarkable.
loved this. yes angeles is about los angeles. i have this album tattooed because i love it so much lol. but yeh i hope you react to more! if you want more stripped back then i'd suggest roman candle or his self titled, or if you want a more rocky sound, figure 8 or xo.
