Agreed! That and would love to be able to use BOTH the AI speaker feature AND "grid with gaps" simultaneously. I like the background images, but don't need to see myself as the host when I'm not talking :)

There’s some fantastic new features here. It is a bit of a shame you don’t play us any of the edit points. It’s one thing moving audio around, but it’s another thing to make it sound smooth and natural.
EQ and Dynamics would be a great additional feature, as would basic multitracks for each participant.

Exciting new features! It would be amazing to be able to also upload graphics as jpg or png to overlay on the videos. Slowly becoming the Editor for non-editors! I would be super excited about a direct translation function for the captions. That would really be amazing! :D

Great work. I love the constant updates and small features you keep adding to improve rather than buying a product that sits still until a new version is released. I had a glitch today but was able to talk to a real person through chat within riverside software. They were able to recover a failed export within an hour and emailed it to me all complete!
Question: where did you get that color changing light in the background and those wall panels?

I had been recording and then exporting to Final Cut Pro to edit... Just recorded AND EDITED my latest episode all in Riverside! This is huge! No more dealing with editing captions (and more) in Final Cut, thank you!
Only suggestions would be (which I'm sure you guys are already working on):
1. Better control of video fades between clips Added
2. Better control of audio fades as well mostly for intro logo and outro logo videos.
3. Make layout changes clip (chapter?) specific - for Intro logo vids and when its just me in the intro and outro segment having the ability to make those full screen and then when I'm actually interviewing a guest change layouts to the more screen shared variant.
4. Direct video upload option to youtube... and other socials would be nice but direct to youtube would save the most time.
Overall a huge improvement and the time saved without having to download then edit then reupload is huge and worth the minor audio issues currently, thank you!
Also it'd be nice when I make splits of the video or create chapters if I could just create a new video directly from that in the timeline then to make short to medium length clips for youtube and reels etc.

If you cut some sections, would be amazing that you can for example : cut section A with the layout-> Grid... and cut sectionB Layout-> Fullscreen
Because no matter how many cuts you made, the " layout" is the same , so if you want to focus in Guest 1 (fullscreen) and then another cut in layout ( Grid) is not posible

Thank you for sharing this tutorial! Are you able to switch off the layout between full screen with one person and shared screen during the video or do you need to select one type of layout for the whole video?
Right now you can only select one type of layout per clip, BUT you can create multiple clips with different layout features, and splice them all together in one clip!
I love it! Thanks for updating this! I wanted to be able to export a video/commercial from my sponsors and now I know. However I have some interviews that were over zoom that I did before finding riverside. Can I upload them in there and edit it, as well, including the configurations?
Great! You can upload those other recording into your Riverside dashboard, and even edit them. But you don't get multi-track support or ai layouts that switch between speakers, unfortunately.

Also, is there any way to adjust the volumes of two speakers' audio clips separately? My co-host's audio file was much quieter than mine and I wanted to adjust it to match
We don't have a granular volume adjustment, but if you toggle not "Normalization" on export, Riverside will make sure the volumes match!
Is there a way to apply a layout format to only one chapter or section of the video? For example if I wanted my "intro" to be only ONE person in full screen, and then the next segment to be in split grid format or picture in picture AI format to show both speakers?
Hey there, not just yet, but if you create clips with the layout you prefer, you can splice those additional clips into a new edit. We know this is a much requested feature so stay tuned!

Love it! If I film with a second camera in Riverside, is there a view in the editor that allows me to switch between cameras when I edit my podcast I want to make sure I can select the right camera angles for the right moments when I do the edit. Can I do all that inside this new Riverside editor?
Thanks! And while you can use our Secondary Camera feature with mobile devices, there is not a way to manually choose the camera angle you would like in the editor right now. Our AI layouts feature *can* focus on the active speaker throughout the clip though.
Is there a way to add images or b-roll of what we are discussing over the top? Either live or in post. Just started using Riverside and for our first episode I did this in Resolve afterwards.
For that I would recommend doing a screen share or uploading video to the media board and playing it live as you record. This way in the editor you'll see it appear larger, or you can use our AI full screen layout and it will focus on the active speaker or shared media at any given time. These are excellent new features but I would love to see the ability to add an additional video track. So, for example, when we are talking about a specific movie, have the trailer of that movie show up while we continue the conversation in audio.

For some reason the audio on my recording is always much lower than the audio of my guest even though during the podcast we can hear each other fine. When I click normalize audio, it raises my audio volume to the same level as my guest but there are many moments of distortion. The only way to fix this is using software to manually raise my audio level without distorting it. Any suggestions?
Can you share what mic and audio interface you and your remote guest are using? We can try and troubleshoot after that.
Would love to be able to add comments/notes to highlighted words/sections (like you can do in a Google Doc or Descript for example)

Would love to be able to attach chapters to the video/audio content whenever I need to move sections around - i'm finding I need to re-do the chapters. Aside from that, riverside has been helpful!
You can actually move content around by moving chapters! Is that what you mean?
So much good stuff! But the one thing I would love is manual control over layouts. There are times I want the split screen and showing everyone (with grid mode including framing with background), but also times I only want the speaker shown - and with the grid mode for having the color branding etc.. I currently have to export to another program to do this. If this could be added in, I would be able to everything I want right in RS. 😊

Awesome. The only tool I don't see is how to delete audio of one speaker without deleting the audio of another speaker. This would be handy if one person speaks over another.

Thank you! And yes, you can upload a video file you worked on elsewhere into your Riverside studio and access all the editor features as well! You won't be able to import multiple tracks for that kind of dual-speaker transcript, but all the other editor tools are available to you.

Jesus H. Christ, this is indeed mindblowing. That easily cuts the editing time for an episode down to a fifth. Just one question: For my audio-only podcast I used backround music for the intro and outro and for the short sneak peak we produce to play before the actual episode. So far, we recorded the sneak peak text and then I manually laid the background music under this text, fading it then directly into our produced podcast intro (which uses the same music). So, I'm using a lot of fading in and out for the background music. Is that also something I can do inside the Riverside editor?

I really want this to be our number one tool for our podcast bc we love the content you provide and overall customization features we can use. We are having one small issue though and it is about drifting (voices and spoken words not synchronizing). It has affected our deleted portions of our convo where its not supposed to be said but still does anyways. What do we need to do to sync our voices and words back together? Is it because of internet issues?

Can you move the subtitles to fit the imported phone clip / imported clips in general?
Also is it possible to move your video so you get the ratio you want? I filmed a video where we are 2 people, and I chose the format to fit tiktok, but then you only see half of our faces, and I cant seem to figure out if it's possible to just move the video clip so it focuses on my face while i talk, and then shifts when my friend talks? Hope that made sense :)

Hi there. Fabulous updates. Really easy to use. Is there a way to add a B-roll ? I'd like to keep the talking but add pictures and clips and animation. It would also be cool if we can jump from one layout to another within the video. Oh, and is it possible to mute just one voice? And just have captions for only one speaker. This would be in the case of a foreign speaker with a difficult accent.

The editor switches based on audio input, there's not a way to manually switch in the editor, just yet.

How do I export without captions now? When I click the captions button, I just get a list of suggested formats, and no "none" option.
If you've added captions, roll your mouse over them in the video preview and click the trash can!

I have a question. I upload my audio podcasts to libsyn and just bought a yearly subscription through riverside. I want to cancel my libsyn to start using video and audio through riverside. What platform do I use to upload my video and audio podcasts on if I am using riverside?
Riverside doesn't host podcasts at the moment, so you will still need a host like Libsyn. But we do have a direct integration with Spotify for Podcasts now which offers free hosting!
Does this app have auto editing with AI? Like the camera auto switching back and forth depending on who’s talking?
Yes! We call them "Auto Layouts" and when you go into the Riverside editor, it will focus on whoever is speaking throughout the recording.
This is great. I would like to signup. However, is there, or will there be, similar support for imported clips as there is for record clips? I mean in terms of transcription and video/audio clips linked for synchronized editing (even if it has to be synced manually first)? We have a backlog of audio and video files for episodes we need to catch up on before we start recording more. I’d like to import the audio tracks and the video footage from each camera, sync them up, and then edit away.
Thanks! So you can upload files to a studio right now, but not multi-track. So it would require syncing them and exporting a single file outside of Riverside, and then uploading the combined track to your studio for the editor, AI features, etc.
@@Riversidefm OK, that's doable, but does that mean audio and video need to be synced to a single video file, too? And then the text-based editing, etc. would be available? If so, that does sound like the automatic multi cam switching won't work since it would have to be done ahead of time.
Can you overlay a video from an outside source other than Riverside? Example I am talking with a guest, and the the video showing what we are talking about is playing while we are in discussion.
For that, we would recommend uploading the video to your media board in-studio, then you can play it live as you record and you'll get that affect in the editor afterward!
How do you record say 15 minutes at a time and later put them together as one?
You can do that in the editor by clicking the + button at the end of the timeline, and then importing another recording or edit into the current project!
Is it possible to switch the cameras? For example if Im on the right and my guest is on the left, can I do the opposite?
You can! Go to the tracks tool in the right-hand sidebar and reorder the video tracks.

When I run Magic clips it is only giving me 2-4 clips. Once I run it, it is gone and I can't find a way to run it again. What am I missing?
If you need to regenerate Magic Clips, click the question mark in the dashboard and live chat with support. They will be able to help!
Can I have a virtual background with riverside? Also, can I go from fullscreen to picture in picture if I want to elaborate on a video so that it can be large while I’m talking about it so people can see whatever it is I want them to see.
Virtual backgrounds are coming VERY soon, and we don't have the ability to change the angles like that in the editor...yet. But stay tuned!
Can you also overlay pictures over your recording? Like throughout the video?
You can upload a static image (the logo option) and it will be present throughout the recording!

when I drag select multiple words in the editor I don't get the delete pop option, I get a different pop up menu with the options 'explore briefly', 'explore topic' or 'translate'. I only get the delete option if I select one word by clicking on it . . . . .
What browser are you using? And are there any extensions like Grammarly or similar running?

Hiya! I'm a brand new user of Riverside and curious to know about recovering deleted sections, like a CTRL+Z type feature. I'm nervous to start editing in case I accidentally lose something!
Hey there! The great part about editing with Riverside is not matter what you delete in our editor, your raw files, audio and video, are all untouched! You can create as many edits as you'd like, and each time you start a new one, the full recording is available to you.

Descript allows me to use Forward slash to denote cuts in the timeline. It's fast and easy. Can i do the same here?

For that you'll need a business plan to invite Editors, Admins, and Directors. On our standard and Pro plans you can send a link to anyone and at least download the raw video and audio file content!
Is the vertical layout for tiktok no longer available?
It is! Click the 16:9 next to our Magic Tools at the top to switch to a vertical layout.

You can overlay images and text right now, and splice in video clips between sections. But stay tuned, we know many are asking about b-roll overlays too!

How do I take a minute or two from a long podcast and create a short clip I can use elsewhere, like a trailer?
You can create as many edits / clips as you would like in the Riverside editor! The fastest way to make clips like that is select text in the transcript in the editor, click the 3-dot menu, and choose "keep only this".

Hi, Podcast Editor here. I wonder if I can overlap the audio file. Meaning: I would love to include my client's intro of course, but since we're stepping into video content for the first time, I wonder if can make smooth transitions just as I was using any other tool. I hope I am making sense.
We don't have built-in transitions just yet, but you can now add background audio across video clips!
It looks like you can only move chapter headings at paragraph breaks. Please consider allowing movement on a more granular level like at the sentence level.
You can drag the chapter start line down at the timeline exactly where you want it in the audio. Then it will rearrange the transcript accordingly! You can also select a single word and create a new chapter from the transcript anywhere.
I am trying to grow my podcast listener base, and need some help. How should I market the show using Instagram? I can make reels that are clips of the show, but some of them don't work to when taken out of context. Are there any other things that I can do to help get my Instagram viewers to become listeners?

I made my fifth podcast and there is terrible echo when I talk. This has not happened before. Any thoughts about why this happened?
Were you and your remote guest using headphones during the recording? If not, and echo cancellation was turned off, it may have caused that.

Do you have the ability to add and layer in music or ability to publish straight to any of the major streaming platforms? I just paid $30 bucks for your pro plan and after spending a full day learning more about your platform I feel like i just wasted $30 for no reason to be honest. I was looking for a platform to make things easier for me and aside from auto generating show notes chapters and captions which really arn't that big of a deal to me personally im not seeing what all the hype is about with all due respect. I may just be spoiled from using podcastle but if they were that amazing i wouldn't have been looking for an alternative for video but i feel like yall have even less features than they do and are more expensive and not as user friendly so im hoping that im just missing something and that i actually do have the ability to add and layer multiple tracks with royalty free music thats able to play in the background at the same time as me talking. and have 1 click export to the major streaming platforms but if not do you do refunds? its not even been 24 hrs since i paid for the pro plan.
