You know I thought I couldn't love this series anymore, but then Joey started cos playing. This video was absolutely amazing and all I can really say is thank you, even if the Orzhov taxes are a bit pricey.
Teysa is my favorite commander. So much value no matter what your budget is. I have two builds of her and they are both a lot of fun when my group bring out our strongest decks.
The acting is fantastic, jokes brilliant, costuming marvelous and it's all wrapped around an aristocrats deck. 10/10 have already sent this video to a Teysa player.
I have never wanted to play Orzhov, either in MTG or in the Ravica D&D campaign I'm running. Now, thanks to Joey, I can't wait to build this. This is beautiful.
New subscriber here going through a bunch of your videos, and while I gotta say they’ve all been great, I absolutely adore the energy in this one, staying in character is so fun for us watching, and clearly fun for you too! Keep up the great work, can’t wait for more! 😁
Orzhov Aristocrats was love at first sight. Thanks for the great advice! Trying to tune my Teysa deck in TTS before ordering paper. You've given me much to think about.
I have always been mildly interested in aristocrat strategies building things like meren in the past, but this... this is how you inspire someone to make a deck! Phenomenal work, going to pay my taxes to TCGPlayer right now🤣
Loved it. And appreciate the extra theatrics lol. I ended up building a human aristocrat teysa deck. Since most creatures I wanted to sacrifice were humans. Which led me to a more focused Teysa. Sometimes people put too much at too much of a mana cost to make use of the effects when they could just rush a better board pressence with more simple cards and start dishing out damage. Will try this config out!
two cards I have used to great effect in teysa are “shadows of the past” and “corpse dance”. they are both great mana sinks late game. especially if nobody can deal with a stray black market. as well the amount of card selection you can get off of shadows of the past is insane
Joey this was fantastic! Why don't you make videos like this anymore? I sincerely think you're talented 🥰 Please consider doing something like this again.
Would love to see this kind of video for a Meren Deck with your awesome insight, plus maybe a upgrade section with cards you currently use in yours. Keep up the good content and wonderful work! Also would love to see your take on your Saffi deck :D
I don’t play Rakdos but I bet Joey could have a lot of fun there as well. Teysa is my favorite deck but I’m always willing to tinker and this gave me a couple new ideas.
I'm currently building an Athreos, shroud veiled deck this video helps a lot... Also Joey looks like he's having the time of of his life, afterlife and beyond! XD
If you like Circle of Despair, check out Martyr's Cause: They do the same thing, but Martyr's Cause has no mana cost on the sacrifice, and it's 2W instead of 1WB to cast.
Omg awesome deck tech! Great video too! As I was watching some of this channel videos, I know you love golgari, any deck will you recommend from golgari without being very graveyard focus? It’s super cool when you manage to fill your grave but it really hurts when they remove it, with 0 mana sometimes
Thank you for this video. It helped me a lot. I know you don't like evolving wild and terramorphic expense but be aware you have to include them for Sun Titan and Sevinne's Reclamation's "worst case scenario", which aren't on this list but I personally like them. For consistency I like cards with Transmute like Dimir House Guard but all them work because you can make sure to have all the targets in each CMC so you can pick what you need. The targets should be Sac Outlet, things to be sac and Payoff.
I also have a hidden gem: Heirloom Blade, this one helps me to find all humans i need to do stuff like Species Specialist, Disciple of Bolas, Recruiter of the guard to draw cards, my afterlife Creatures and Xathid-Necromant or Pitiless Plunderer, my "you loose life i gain life" creatures and my recurse. And if i dont want a human, i just need one of my creatures i have less then 18 times like my elements or demons to tutor for the other part :)
I was not prepared for the cosplay clicking on this video, but man am I here for it Also here to see what notes I can borrow for an Orah, Skyclave Hierophant deck
Man, this deck looks like the lovechild of my Athreos Cleric Tribal deck and my Yahenni Aristocrats deck. That said, both are running Arguel’s Blood Fast. It acts like a Greed(though 1 more mana for activated ability) and turn into a land if your life ever gets low enough, giving you a once per turn sac outlet that’ll gain you life. I also like Abhorrent Overlord. While a 6/6 body in the air is nice, I’ve often found myself sacrificing it to its own upkeep trigger, basically using it to generate a bunch of tokens that can then be used to block or sacrificed for value as needed. Now, let’s see what secrets we can pull out of the Orzhov about improving the average deck of Lazav, Dimir Mastermind. Oops, did I say that out loud?
Soooo.... Little thing to say about the Command Sphere and the Orzhov locket. Why turn 3 ramp and not turn 2? Here I saw we have talisman, the signets, the mind stone (a personnal favorite in general). Instead of these turn 3 ramp, why not Wayfarer's Bauble, or for ramp and fixing fellwar stone?
Joey, this is fantastic! I thought at some point you would drop the accent and speak normally, but I am impressed and very happy you kept it up the entire video! You continue to impress us with such amazing skills! As for the actual list though, I am not the biggest fan of Smothering Abomination, I can see the potential of when you have a number of token creatures available to sac them for draws is amazing, but it becomes a situational "I don't know" / "I don't want to sac X" card if you don't have a decent board state to play around with. I am more in favor of playing Corpse Augur instead, which can give you so much more card advantage imo than Smothering in most cases. The other two cards I am not on board with are Butcher of Malakir and Harvester of Souls, and I totally understand why they are in the deck that they are definitely cheaper dollar wise equivalents to better but expensive cards that we are not putting in the average deck. My alternative for Harvester of Souls would be Erebos, Bleak-Hearted, it's a similar effect but you do have to pay life to get the card draw, but 2 CMC cheaper and I am all about lowering our mana curve. For Butcher, I don't have a similar effect to replace it with that is a creature. And it may be personal preference but I think there are other mass removal spells that could easily go into a Teysa list that people should consider -- my personal picks would be among Tragic Arrogance, Divine Reckoning, and Vona's Hunger. I did learn of some spicy cards from today's video which I look forward to trying out within my Teysa build . To end my little schpiel I would like to suggest a couple of unique cards I like from my own deck -- Cauldron of Souls, a repeatable reanimation on a stick and makes sacrificing more fun or for board wipes not set us back that much (I may be swapping this out for Wake The Dead); Thieving Amalgum is such a weird but wonderful creature if it lives through your next couple of upkeeps and get to amass some manifested creatures for you to sac or to block with and get to ping someone for 4 per each death trigger
I love orzhov, but I really wish there were lifegain commanders that didn't focus on removal/ have removal on them. I have a sorin vengeful bloodlord brawl deck, and would love to convert it to commander but can't find a commander for it.
Ok I knew I was gonna like this video and then the cosplay just spiked it even higher. This is amazing where do I get a gold cape and pin like that? Haha
My absolute favorite deck to play. Minor nitpick, isn't Kaya (and I guess Tomik right now) the current guild lead while Teysa is the matriarch or the Orzhov family?
That was fuckin fabulous and I wouldn't of had it any other way, I run a Teysa edh deck and it's my absolute favorite deck to play. I appreciate some if the suggestion, specifically the "undeath" section. Haha! See I laughed, plz don't tax me! I can't wait for them to come in the mail!!! You played my queen Teysa very well.
I thank my Orzhov brethren for your contributions to our leader, I am sure she will reward you with many victories as she has with myself. All devote thyself to the church!
1B, Enchntment, At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player chooses target player whose graveyard has fewer creature cards in it than their graveyard does and is their opponent. The first player may return a creature card from their graveyard to their hand.
Perhaps Carnival of Souls as a ramp option? 1B: Whenever a creature comes into play, you lose 1 life and add B to your mana pool. Seams like it'd provide a LOT of extra mana since it counts ANY creature, not just yours, and including token creatures.
Funny you mention elenda because I switched teysa to elenda. So far teysa is stronger still but i like how elenda plays. Glad i watched this video cuz the sacrifice creature regenerate target creature is AWESOME.
I personally like Daxos Blessed by the Sun with Teysa to gain some extra life anytime a creature you control dies you gain 2 with Teysa’s trigger and 1 more when the token enters
That costume and accent just makes me happy. Now we see Joey in his natural habitat.
"Laugh or I'll tax you." Classic Orzhov.
More like "Laugh or I'll evict you.. mercilessly!"
Your enthusiasm is such a gift, please never stop making content
“Not that the Boros Legion has ever READ a book...” 😂😂😂😂😂
PRISON!
You know I thought I couldn't love this series anymore, but then Joey started cos playing. This video was absolutely amazing and all I can really say is thank you, even if the Orzhov taxes are a bit pricey.
Now, this is great content creation. Love the production, the quality of the advice and the delivery. Chefs kiss!
"Oh my obzedat, it is!" crying over here. I love Joey
I'm so scared of the Orzhov that I will build this deck out of sheer intimidation.
Teysa is my favorite commander. So much value no matter what your budget is. I have two builds of her and they are both a lot of fun when my group bring out our strongest decks.
Loved that you did this in character! XD
bravo, Joey! What an excellent presentation of a splendid deck.
I will be reviewing my own Teysa Karlov deck with these suggestions in mind.
The acting is fantastic, jokes brilliant, costuming marvelous and it's all wrapped around an aristocrats deck. 10/10 have already sent this video to a Teysa player.
This video is an absolute gem, holy crap
literally perfect. was so incredibly entertained by this joey!!!
Looks like you had a lot of fun with this one. One of my favorite videos. Thanks!
I'd love a Yuriko upping the average deck list
We definitely need a Yuriko episode.
You want to watch an empty chair for 10 minutes?
WITH COSPLAY!! :D
Now I'm going to have to watch this again just to get the content because I was distracted by the great performance! Bravo!
Was a great video as always the acting and costume had me laughing I loved it.
Joey, you were on point! Absolutely loved this video
This was so amazing. :D Thanks for all your excellent content.
Gold really suits you! This series is already both useful and entertaining, but this just brought it to another level
The presentation of this episode is delightfully over the top, and Joey, I’m here for it. XD
Thanks for the very sweet cards i haven't heard of helps me out love this channel
I just made my teysa deck! Let's see if my stats are to be challenged! Thank you for your videos!
Orzhov Aristocrats was love at first sight.
Thanks for the great advice! Trying to tune my Teysa deck in TTS before ordering paper. You've given me much to think about.
Loved this video! The performance alone was worth it
The accent and roleplay is just exquisite!!!
I don't know if this was done out of interest for the series or being steadily driven to madness by quarantine, but either way, well done!
I’m getting “Lucifer Morningstar giving a deck tech” vibes. Completely appropriate
This was very informative. Now I will adjust my Teysa Karlov deck.
Wow. Bravo for staying in character the whole time!
I am extremely here for the raw *energy* of this video.
I have always been mildly interested in aristocrat strategies building things like meren in the past, but this... this is how you inspire someone to make a deck! Phenomenal work, going to pay my taxes to TCGPlayer right now🤣
Strong Lucifer vibes coming from Joey today 😂
Awesome performance, bravo!
I loved the performance! Oh and the final deck too
Perfect timing! I was just working on an Elenda deck and realized I have no idea how to balance an aristocrats deck. This will be really helpful.
i love the wing backdrop
I've been binging this series because it is so good and just got to this one. Please, PLEASE bring back the costumes and make-up
Love the theater with this
two cards I have used to great effect in teysa are “shadows of the past” and “corpse dance”. they are both great mana sinks late game. especially if nobody can deal with a stray black market. as well the amount of card selection you can get off of shadows of the past is insane
Joey this was fantastic! Why don't you make videos like this anymore? I sincerely think you're talented 🥰
Please consider doing something like this again.
Aristocrat is on my short list of decks to build. Been mulling commander options. Might have to go with this. Looks powerful and fun.
Best one yet, Joey! Keep the cosplays coming please :)
Great video as always! I’d like to see a Slimefoot, Kumena or Xenagos upping the average at some point.
Would love to see this kind of video for a Meren Deck with your awesome insight, plus maybe a upgrade section with cards you currently use in yours. Keep up the good content and wonderful work! Also would love to see your take on your Saffi deck :D
Great video!!!
This video was the best... It would be awesome to do one for all the guilds 😁
When you cosplayed as Silverquill and didn't know it.
XD
I really want to see Mazirek on Upping the Average.
Nice :) had fun watching this vid :)
This is an awesome video.
When using a more token-based strategy, Species Specialist and Twilight Drover are very good. Another good sac outlet is Circle of Despair.
Circle of Despair could be good for politics too
If you like Circle of Despair, check out Martyr's Cause: They do the same thing, but Martyr's Cause has no mana cost on the sacrifice, and it's 2W instead of 1WB to cast.
That accent with his voice is the best asmr ive ever expierienced while watching a video that genuinly interests me
YESSSS YOU ARE IN CHARACTER WITH THE COMMANDER! LOVE IT!
I've been mulling over my Teysa Deck for months now and this is even more food for mulling, damn it :P
Omg awesome deck tech! Great video too! As I was watching some of this channel videos, I know you love golgari, any deck will you recommend from golgari without being very graveyard focus? Love the costume an accent makes the video a ton of fun

To quote a wise man: I’m totally here for this.

Can you do nekusar, I always want to build him but it gets expensive getting good wheels
Oh wow, awesome
Now that we've seen multiple version reprints of Teysa, any chance ollf revisiting this commander?
would you switch out Inkshield with any card in the deck?
I wonder how u feel about Heliod's Intervention. Since it's released I'm constantly more and more impressed by it and its versatility
Joey, this is fantastic! I thought at some point you would drop the accent and speak normally, but I am impressed and very happy you kept it up the entire video! You continue to impress us with such amazing skills!

If anyone picked up the Mardu precon for 2021, there are many great spells and effects in it. It does mostly care about humans though.
curious to see your version of Konrad deck!!! PLEASE!!!
Ok now when there is a Selesnya Upping the Average we need Joey, Matt, and Dana as Trostani.
Skullbriar would be a cool one for you to do next
Joey, this was absolutely brilliant!
Now when's that Greven list appearing?
I love orzhov, but I really wish there were lifegain commanders that didn't focus on removal/ have removal on them. I have a sorin vengeful bloodlord brawl deck, and would love to convert it to commander but can't find a commander for it.
Omg, the fucking skit portion was so great.
Ok I knew I was gonna like this video and then the cosplay just spiked it even higher. This is amazing where do I get a gold cape and pin like that? Haha
I love Joey so much
My absolute favorite deck to play. Minor nitpick, isn't Kaya (and I guess Tomik right now) the current guild lead while Teysa is the matriarch or the Orzhov family?
Hahaha, you went so extra Joey. Nerds rock.
Karlov of the ghost council!

What about Oath of Ghouls? Could fit in well in this no?
1B, Enchntment, At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player chooses target player whose graveyard has fewer creature cards in it than their graveyard does and is their opponent. The first player may return a creature card from their graveyard to their hand.
My friend is planning to make a budget teysa karlov deck.
Luxuriance ❤
Perhaps Carnival of Souls as a ramp option?
1B: Whenever a creature comes into play, you lose 1 life and add B to your mana pool.
Seams like it'd provide a LOT of extra mana since it counts ANY creature, not just yours, and including token creatures.
Iwould love to see Rienne Angel of Rebirth or WInota around here (no cosplay required, but feel free!)
Fabulous. The Orzhov approves.
Funny you mention elenda because I switched teysa to elenda. So far teysa is stronger still but i like how elenda plays. Glad i watched this video cuz the sacrifice creature regenerate target creature is AWESOME.
I personally like Daxos Blessed by the Sun with Teysa to gain some extra life
anytime a creature you control dies you gain 2 with Teysa’s trigger and 1 more when the token enters
Well, now you're going to have to be in character for all the future videos. Great job. Question, is Ayli a worthwhile addition?
i like to think so, if your not wanting to be too competitive. she's very fun.
We stan.
