It's a question with an exciting answer... can a souped-up BMW M3 really challenge a £400k Ferrari SF90?
We’ve got Mat lining up in a modified G80 M3 today. It’s powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six which, from stock, puts out 510hp and 650Nm of torque. However, this one’s had £8k of mods and is now running 750hp and 900Nm! Will it be able to put that extra power down, though?
On paper, it doesn't look like a match for the Ferrari SF90. The Italian stallion is equipped not only with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, but three electric motors too! Combined, they deliver 1,000hp and 800Nm. Weighing in at 1,580kg (mind, that’s a “dry” weight without fluids) it’s lighter than the BMW too, which tips the scales at 1,780kg.
Fortunately for us, drag races don't happen on paper. Which will take the win? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

The bmw did times that can rival the 911 turbo s, it really impressed me. I remember Carwow did a race with a 1000 horsepower m5 and it did terribly compared to this m3 with “only” 750
becuz the m5 had too much power, which was too much for the "semi-slicks"
@@dogwithkatana485 semi slicks should be able to handle most of that power, the bigger issue is launch controls. You can see how much the car jumps from the Porsche's perspective when it switches gears. It just can't handle that much power.
Plus the m3 in this video is all wheel drive

That M3 is something else! You have to give credit to the M3 and Tom there. The way that thing launches is just epic!! Love the SF90 too. I would love to see this M3 vs a 911 Turbo S or something. Hopefully you guys will get it back on the channel.

Nice races. It is always a good surprise to discover a new tuned BMW. In addition the cost of the improvement is really fair. We don't get such tuners in France. We must try to find it in Germany. Very good performances for the tuned M3 .
The fact is that BMW can keep up with that sf90 at lunch for few seconds is shocking. Although the BMW is modified but still pretty impressive!

I've seen too many videos with tuned cars that fail to deliver. At least this M3 was reliable and potent. That made this a worthy test. More please, as long as the tuner specials can be relied upon to put on a good show.

I think it’s a good idea to always include the exhaust sound from inside the cabin too. They’re always too loud for the mics to pickup, but whenever it switches to cabin noise you always get a clearer picture

@@godlyname8544 Me too but the thing is that mods for mods, the S58 engine (BMW) have far greater potential than the 992 Turbo S. So the M3 would always end up winning.
@@RiasGremoryS54 992 s engines are capable of a lot of hp. 991s from ESMotors were pushing 1600+hp . Even Jamie's from OG gassed old 991.2 was pushing 1400hp. What superior capabilities u talking about? 🤣

Tuned cars are just increadible, youd think that an only 250hp increase in power would leave the BMW getting battered but tuned cars always seem to perform against all odd and pull out such unbelievable performances, they also sound amazing.
It's because of the aggressive nature of the torque, helps disguise the massive weight of that m3

Youve got to love that Ferrari, the BMW looks and performs nicely but something about the eco friendly hybrid ferrari that can just batter any supercar in a drag race really puts a smile on my face

Would have loved to have seen the 992 Turbo S in that race too, just for more perspective. The Ferrari, was always going to win that race, but by just how much, was the question. The M3s time of 10.1, is stunning, well done to Tom Wrigley, and it performed flawlessly, if what we saw was correct, unlike some tuned cars Car wow have covered. Maybe start to include the 100 - 200km/h times too, as these times seem to be featured a lot these days, with Dragy etc 🙂

Would be even more interesting to get an ES800 tuned 992 911 TurboS like Jamie's from OG Gassed ,so basically an exhaust and a tune slapped on it and race it against the SF90.
Carwow did this same M3 vs Turbo S race, so search for "M3 vs Turbo S" and you should see it. The video thumbnail of that video shows the M3 as being orange, but it is this same car.
The launch on that BMW is INSANELY EPIC!!! THAT TUNER DID IT 10 OUT OF 10!!!! 😮
All made sense when I realized that's a G series M3 with X drive. Still hanging with an SF90 is no joke. Props to the Beamer tuner.

Nowadays hypercars are way above 1000hp. I would say more like 1500+ hp. 1000 hp is now supercar territory.

1st race looked like a dead heat, really impressive for the M3 to manage that. But once the Ferrari sorted out his launching woes, finishing only 3ths slower than the SF90 was really good.

That 750hp is at the wheels vs the 500 claimed at the crank. I have the exact same setup on my G82 M4 and it surprises a lot of people.
