A rule of thumb from a DCS player.
Always try hard before going defensive sending one Fox 3 the enemies way.
Yes the missile has minimal assistance from your radar but this isn’t FOX1 gameplay. There’s a chance however small the Fox3 will luckily get a lock on the enemy jet and either score you a kill or scare him enough to make him go defensive, which will give you enough time to deal with his Fox 3 and recommit to the fight now with him defensive and you on the attack
I tried this tactic bc I always watch Growling Sidewinder doing it and works 100%

Yes but in reality at least more than one person throws missiles at you so it makes things even more difficult

Giving your six to the enemy while dodging a single fox 3 is not a wise option though, they could just chase you down to launch another Fox3 or an ET
That's not the point of the video. I'll make a later video on how to win BVR. This is how to dodge a fox-3 in general. Essentially if you're in a bad situation.
When you launch an fox-3 flying defensive is simply what you need to do. If you're in a bvr fight increasing the distance by turning around means the missle has to glide for longer. Alongside you pulling maneuvers, the missle will probably fall out of the skies before it goes pitbull (in theory).
Lob a fox 3 keep lock for a while, turn around and try to fly defensively whilst trying to get to the deck

A lot of people don't realize that if you shoot a radar missile straight down at a target right below you, it will still hit regardless of how low they are.

@@Epic_candle Uuuh, no. Because of the way multipathing works, it makes the radar signature seem closer to the ground. If you're right above someone, it doesn't matter if the signature appears lower to the ground, the missile will fly a proper course and proximity fuse on the target. I do it all the time.

Yes multipathing will not affect the missile ability to hit you but if it is straight above the target and the floor is below it the doppler radar won't be able to track since both the ground and aircraft have the same velocity relative to the missile (if it is a fox-3) if it is an SARH yeah you could launch the missile so that it hits perpendicular and reposition your aircraft so that you never encounter this issue with the doppler radar but it's unlikely to set this.@@PotatoeJoe69

We did a few tests from straight above, misses. It also depends what altitude you're at, and if there's trees nearby that could proxy it close to your aircraft, it's extremely inconsistent and a lot of people are under the assumption that enemies are Multipathing, when they aren't.
you dont have to use chaff in every scenario, you can just out energy the missile, sometimes while staying nose hot if launched from far enough, or you can notch the missile without chaff too
This is true, but I rather dump chaff and not need it, than not use it and need it.
Why are people talking about multipathing getting removed all of a sudden? Its a thing in reallife isnt it?
It is but at like 10 meters. Gaijin has way higher and stronger
Its a thing, but the more advanced the missile is, the less it is affected by it, and for modern missiles like some of the ones added in this update it is almost negligible
Multipathing in real life is a thing but you have to basically fly below tree top level it is also super exaggerated in warthunder
@@AeroTurtleHow do you notch missiles? I see the radar missile (fox 1), start using chaff, turn 90 degrees, fly straight with some turns and still use chaff, and the missile still slams me. This is close range launches at like 4km almost on the deck. Im so confused.
@@mikeyplayzwrld you need to go 90 deg to the left or right and go fast. Also dump chaff. If that doesn't work, try bleeding the missile.
To anyone interested in the Harriers be it the UK or AV8 series, VIFFing (vtol in forward flight) can basically guarantee a notch provided you are going slow enough, allowing you to retaliate with your own Fox 2s or 3s

In many of these scenarios the enemy gets a easy chance to fire a second missile after he's gotten even closer. What do you recommend I do in that scenario?

It would be best if you fired back. On this video 📸 t was purely how to evade foz-3's. Perhaps in the future I'll make a video on how to win a fox-3 fight

i'm now stuck in a dilemma because i really want to play the f15c but the gripen is just 10 times better , so i don't know if i should grind gripen c to be effective in battle, or to grind f15c because i like it, as of right now it doesn't do too good in dogfights(sim)

yep, grippen is the easiest and best fits the meta. u don't have to worry about having trouble dodging repositooning etc.
grippen is more of an agressive playstylr and f15 a passive one. at the end of the day it comes down to which team gets rekt fiest so... just go get whatever u want man. No matter which is the meta u still gonna depend on your ass teams xd. and at the end of the day u prob gonna get voth Eventually.
personally id go for grippen
The F-15 is really good in SIM if flown correctly. Although the gripen is an easier plane to fly and get kills.
@@AeroTurtle yea, i average about a 3.5 kd in the f15 when i fly it, could be more but 4 of the 8 missiles i have don't work 50% of the time, but when im flying the gripen getting 20 kills and no deaths is like taking candy from a baby, just periodic countermeasures and 9m+hmd on the 2nd best flight model ingame
How i do these when there is a literal swarm of enemies going for my ass?
What I do stay behind the pack and let them engage in the furball and pick isolated fights to decrease the third party probability. Every time I roll with the pack and commit to the first merges I die. Every time.
With the current state of air RB, i don't see BVR being too prominent, unfortunately
