    Eggless French Toast Recipe
    (makes 2 slices)
    - 1/3 cup chickpea flour
    - 1/3 cup plant-based milk (e.g., oat milk)
    - 1 tsp vanilla extract
    - 1/2 tsp cinnamon
    - Sweetener of choice (e.g., coconut sugar, Stevia drops)
    - Bread slices (whole grain or sourdough)
    - Toppings: Fruit, berries, jam, coconut yogurt, maple syrup
    1. In a bowl, whisk together chickpea flour, plant-based milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sweetener.
    2. Heat a non-stick pan on medium heat.
    3. Dip each bread slice into the batter, coating both sides.
    4. Cook the slices in the pan without adding oil until crispy on both sides (about 2 minutes per side).
    5. Optionally, slice the bread into thirds for French toast sticks.
    6. Serve hot, topping with your favorite fruits, berries, jam, coconut yogurt, or maple syrup.
    **Notes:
    - Experiment with different sweeteners and toppings to suit your taste.
    - For extra fun, try slicing the French toast into sticks.

You always have tried and true simple easy ingredients on hand if you are plant-based to make loads of your recipes.
Kudos to you who decided you did not want to feel the same way and to take medications.
Not bragging but I never had a weight issue where I ate to gain lots of weight. My issue was 10 to 12 lb extra weight and I wanted to become healthy. At 40 years old my cholesterol was over 300. Right away the doctor tells me he wants to put me on cholesterol medication. Back almost 25 years ago there wasn't as much information as today on eating a vegan plant diet but I did it. Fast forward all these years my cholesterol has dropped to a total of 160.
My other main reason for going plant-based the slaughter and the pain and the heinous act of killing animals. 😢😢😢😢

Thanks Anja! This is the same way I love to make vegan french toast! I usually use aqua faba that I have in the freezer left over from making chickpeas in the instantpot in place of the plant milk. Also I find that if I smash a ripe banana in the badder after mixing it together it's plenty sweet without having to use a sweetner (after I top it with some blueberries when it's finished). You really need a nonstick pan for it I use a hexclad and it never sticks as long as you cook it long enough and you make the batter thick enough.

Absolutely! I sometimes use banana too - it adds such a wonderful natural sweetness! 🍌😊

I've been thinking about French toast for a while. I was going to do it differently but this looks too good to not try. Hopefully tomorrow I want to do it now but it's bedtime

Yum! Thank you for this lovely recipe. I forgot to add the sweetener to the batter and it was still delicious with syrup anyway. I did add a little Black Salt for eggy taste. Thanks again, will be having this some mornings now🙂

Going to get chickpea flour ......never knew.

Do you think aquafaba would work in lieu of chickpea flour?

    • @1auntievenom
      @1auntievenom Před 8 měsíci +1

I would try blending a bit of tofu or if you want to go the aquafaba route, perhaps if you blended with a few cooked chickpeas to make a thicker batter.
I often use cooked chickpeas in sweeter applications. Think brownies or blondies but also as a protein powder replacement in smoothies.

Possibly but it won't have the same texture and taste
