I was thinking about having a go at gold fish hair... Hehehe
Years ago, before we had a conscience, my mother-in-lew wanted a fir coat for her birthday. Saying to the dear old fella "Any animal will do". So he got her a donkey jacket... LOL (Not true, I just thought it would bring a smile)
Thank you once again Michele, very informative as usual.
TTFN..
Lol 😅
I'm a 82 year old learner and loving your videos.
Thanks Heather!
Wow und klasse sage ich. Man ist nie zu alt um was neues zu lernen.😊
Loving this
Thank you.
The actual fur tutorial hasn’t even started yet but the info about blending and embossing tools and explanation about cartridge paper is brilliant! Sooo informative so I have great hopes for the rest of the video. 😊
I found this neat trick because I have a thing for the smooth Bristol board plate, I found a spray textured fixative. Once I get to the point where the paper won't take anymore lead (not shiny) I spray the textured fixative and let it dry. It creates a textured layer over the graphite that is again workable with slight teeth. It is more time consuming however, I have issues with toothy paper it's just a personal preference. Your video helped me out a lot as a hobbyist creature designer.
Great tip!
Great video, thank u

Just found you on CZcams. I've been drawing about 4 yrs and still learning. Thank you so much for your tutorials.
You are so welcome!
Thank you Michelle , your videos have helped me enormously . It’s great the way you so thoroughly explain everything.
I'm so glad!
These videos are really great. I like practicing drawing many textures such as wood, brick, smooth shiny objects, stones, water - all the outdoor nature textures, so I definitely would find a video like that very helpful and loads of fun to practice with. I am ready to try your beginners watercolor videos. That is a medium I have little experience with, but your channel got me inspired and interested. This video was approved by my cat, as always.
Thanks Cindy, glad you like the videos 😊
This video is perfect timing for me. I'm working on pencil drawings of my cat this weekend. Thank you, Michele.
Glad it's helpful ☺️
Great video
Thanks!
Informative video ❤❤❤
Thanks so much 🙏
Wow! Love this video, Michele. I usually do watercolors but my dog passed away a few months ago and I’m in the process of drawing and painting her. The fur videos - both drawing and watercolor painting - are very useful. Thank you.
Sorry for your loss xx
I love your frog-ring 😊
Thank you!
Thankyou, great video. I wish you had a video on blending the various fur spots/clumps together. You are an excellent teacher, presentation waas stellar.
Great suggestion!
Great video of drawing fur. I really appreciate how you go step by step from the materials used, how to use the tools, erasers, & pencils to achieve great fur/hair texture results. I love how you actually give examples of doing these techniques too. Thanks for sharing this wonderful informational video with us. Have a great weekend!!❤
Thanks Colleen ☺️ x
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber You’re most welcomed.
Helpful! Fur has always been a big problem for me.
Glad it helped!
Very informative. Thank you.
Michele, it seems as if we are watching upside down. I’m dizzy lol!
Great tips! I’ve seen the embossing tools at our Dollar Tree aka $1.25 Tree.
You mean everything isn't one dollar!? 😅
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber not anymore !
Another informative video. Well done. Can you do a video on using the envelope technique for free hand drawing?
Thanks for the suggestion, I will try.
Regarding paper: I find it easier and more precise to refer to them by the pound weight. Most papers used in art or even crafts are labelled this way. Most also give the metric weight as well i.e. 140lb/300gsm. You just have to look carefully as some countries producing art paper might show 300gsm/140lb.
Thank you. This was very helpful! I'd also like to see how to draw human hair. I've seen some say "draw the shapes you see in the hair," but I have trouble seeing those shapes. Any ideas? Thanks!
Well that's good advice but every situation is different and observation is key. Many of the same things apply as fur.
Have you made a pencil drawing tree bark tutorial?
Not yet! But good idea...
Michelle thank you so much for all your amazing videos and can honestly say that I have learned a lot from you!! Having said that I have a huge problem with Shadows and where they fall especially when drawing Houses or Buildings. Would you have by any chance have Videos on shadow placements? or where Shadows would fall at say morning or midday? or late afternoons? I know the Sun moves but which would be the most efective one or would have the most impressive? Thank you soo much Michelle. I am learing a lot from you viseos so far so good, I am soo pleased I clicked on the first video I watched and have subscribed.
Thanks so much Lynda. I will give some thought to a shadows video, it's always hard to place them without a reference because they are affected by time of day, season and viewpoint of the person.
I have a watercolor 90 lb Strathmore paper, it is horrible for watercolor paint. At least for me. So, I will try this as a sketching paper, or sampling color mixing. I have a nice collection of charcoal pencils I thought might work on it. I was waiting for a tutorial like this to guide me how to get the best results on first attempt on this paper, and the pencils. They are still in the package.
Good luck!
Your talk about burnishing makes me think that is what happened to a watercolor painting I just finished. I thought it was just a streak of charcoal pencil that wouldn't erase (I can't see a dent in the paper) but it was barely noticeable until it got a layer of watercolor paint on it (as you can imagine). Nothing helped, so instead of giving up I decided to try to work with it - I did some more shading, added a 'beauty mark' to the woman's face, etc. Many lessons learned there. Do you have any tips for how to salvage a problem painting? Ways to draw attention away from a problem area? It wasn't a professional art piece for publishing or sale (still a beginner here) so I used it as a learning tool instead of throwing it in the bin ;)
Sounds very sensible. There are sometimes ways of removing marks, a scalpel can be used to scrape the surface off depending on how thick the paper is. The main thing is not to emphasise the mark by keep going over it.
That’s my exact problem. I keep trying to fix it and make it worse. Thanks for the tip.
What is the click embossing pen/tool you showed?
I think the brand is Xacto or something like that 🤔
How could I paint realistic fur using either watercolour, acrylic or oil Paints? Could you please do a CZcams tutorial on this? Many Thanks In Advance. June Brown.
Any of those mediums can be used for fur. I have done a watercolour video already June, put watercolour fur and my name into the search bar and it should come up :-)
What about short fur?
Pretty much the same, but if you are not close up I would blur and bend more :-)
have you ever used charcoal pencils
Yes, mostly for details on top of regular charcoal 🙂
i just started using them about a forntnight ago please could you do a video tutorial on basic Technique and shading with charcoal pencils and willow charcoal
Hi ilike drawing like to learn drawing I do lot mistakes mi name Mel
20 minutes and you couldn't actually show even a portion of drawing an animal like the cat in the thumbnail? I hate misleading thumbnails like that.
I did indeed draw the cat, it's available as a paid mini course on my course site. It took many hours to draw, which is why the CZcams video is just about techniques.
The thumbnail is misleading is my point.@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber
Hi Michele, I am so glad that I've discovered your channel! I am binge-watching at the moment and I have already learnt a lot! I want water colour give a try, which brand would you recommend for a wat.col. beginner? I don't want to spend a lot of money, maybe I realise it's not for me, but I don't want to buy the cheapest ones either. I live in GB . Thank you in advance.
The cheapest you can get that are really good quality, in fact they punch well above their weight are White Nights by St Petersburg. Far better than many student brands like Cotman. You can get them on Amazon and at art suppliers.
