It's because it's natural. I'm not an expert in ASMR but the fact that a lot of us watch these videos is because there is something in our brain that responds well to these kinds of sounds. I imagine that from when we're young and our brains are developing, we build up positive responses to ASMR because it's soothing, and we all have our own "triggers" that can set it off. For some people it's brushing sounds, for others its a soft accent, and when the sounds happen more naturally and we aren't expecting it we are more positively affected.

Often I think their thought process is more trigger are better. My opinion is less is more but that’s just me

It is so comforting to know all those subsets just fit in that axiom of probable categories on this theorem in Omega’s observable reality of objectivities which can be localized naturally, especially when this is your first class at 08:30AM and you sit at the window, when it is still a bit dark outside and drizzly. The asmr really kicks in with a hangover and lack of sleep the night before. Lovely. I wish I was there.

Interesting. First time i felt the ASMR effects was in 1999 when i was taking a math class with a japonese teacher. Class was crowded so i sat on the first row that was a few feet away from the chalkboard. We were all silent and all i could hear was the dashes and dots on the chalkboard. I didnt know what it was so i felt really embarrassed cause i though the tingles i was getting was some sexual response (and the teacher was not even cute).

Same here. Ever since i was a baby i loved the sounds of washing machines, vacuum cleaners, hair dryer etc.. But one time when i was 4 years old there was a postman on the door, he was going through letters and papers, writing and speaking softly. His voice was echoing in the building hall. I felt so limp, like melted butter. I also felt some embarrassment but later i accepted it and enjoyed. I would get ASMR triggers everywhere all the time, by all kinds of people. I started slightly manipulating people just for my relaxation, prolonging the conversation and asking questions i already know, just so they keep talking lol..

      @@ambiator8524 Ah I see.
Yes, classes in university are usually quiet. Only the lecturer is talking but we can ask questions.
These are classes were you basically sit down and listen to a presentation.
Some lecturers create them a bit more interactive though.
And there are types of classes where you have to do something yourself. You get a presentation for like half a day and then you have to work on the topic of the day (for me it is microscoping so far).
Lastly, there are the laboratory classes (for me) where I am in the laboratory and work on different things.
Regular classes however are basically like shown in the video or with a powerpoint presentation and additionally writing on a chalkboard.
      The financial aspect sucks :/
I am lucky enough that I live in germany and here we don't pay that much per semester (I pay like 140€ per semester) and get an ID card with which I can use the public transportation system in a certain area for free. Other universities are more expensive though but not by a huge amount (but they provide a bigger area you can travel with you ID card for free).
