I lived in Estonia for 7 years I didn't come here to reinvent myself: I didn't want to reinvent myself and even if I wanted I could have done it in many other countries. The reasons which made me move to Estonia are:
    - free public transport
    - cheap taxis
    - bicycle friendly streets
    - livable cities with lots of parks, meadows and trees
    - e-governance
    - abundant and highly paid IT jobs
    - meritocracy

    Hey Manan,
I got to say that your video hit me in the sweet spot. I totally agree with you. The freedom we can express here, is what kept me in Estonia. And I've also been able to name it only after many years here. I love to say that in Estonia we can be very "Undefined". In France I always felt like I have to fit in one of the predefined box (Engineer, nerd, hippy...). But in Estonia, I can be a guy ridding unicycle around, performing where I want. And no one will juge me for it, and even better I feel that people value this new perspective I bring in the country.
I love living here, because I feel free to be fully myself. And I feel people value me doing it.

Thank you for your video and thoughts, it was very interesting. I am an Estonian who lived abroad for over 9 years and then decided to come back. There certainly were more rules on how to behave in the UK and in that sense it is nice and chill to be back in Estonia. :-) I think living abroad also liberates something in you - being away from home and family gives you that distance and space to do and be your own thing. But at some point I felt I needed a change and realised I wanted to come back.

Look at it this way: New experience, opportunities to grow and you don't have to make the absolute best decision about the destination before you go - How could you? Most things you can only understand if you are already there. Just go for it. It's an adventure.

Today we have strong influence from USA due to friendship with them. for me the big compelling thing is that it is so rational when it comes to economic policy. it's a neoliberal paradise: free markets and robust social safety nets. e.g. they have a land value tax. that is amazing. taxing land doesn't have dead weight loss. this is why economics nerds all across the world keep talking about land value tax. now if they can get UBI, they'll be in the space age.

Perhaps a business idea for someone... in the lines of: "AirBNB in Estonian only"

Cost of living in Estonia is at least 20% less than I'm paying now. A feeling that Estonia will do well economically in the future. A country that isn't overflowing with immigrants from Northern Africa and other predominantly Muslim countries. Safety. The Estonian respect of privacy and it's a civilized society. Reasonably tax friendly for retirees. These are just some of my reasons to think about retiring in Estonia..

Estonia has been occupied by Denmark, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Russia, the Soviet Union. Ethnic Estonians and people who wanted to become Estonians have always spoken the Estonian language. Without learning Estonian you will always remain a foreigner, living temporarily in Estonia.
