- I eat and review the legendary New Orleans restaurant, Galatoire’s. For over a century the establishment has served incredible French Creole cuisine with class, tradition and elegance in a beautiful dining room located on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

About Me:
I live in NYC and I’m about food, travel and work.
Wow! One of the grande dames of New Orleans. A very well presented restaurant and a very well executed video!
Thank you! Yeah, this restaurant was very different, in a good way, from a lot of the other establishments that I've been to.
I love the background music so much! along with your video haha. The music goes well with the historic restaurant.
Thanks! The second I heard this song I knew it would be perfect for the video!
I’m a Louisiana Girl, from North Louisiana and I first went to Galatoire at 7 yrs old. So fifty yrs ago! They truly have the most excellent service anywhere in the city! My family had the same waiter for 20 yrs as we went back every spring. Many servers are generational. It’s a truly remarkable restaurant! Next is commander’s palace coming in at a close 2nd!! Enjoy and I loved your experience there. Blessings and safe travels! A new fan from Louisiana!! 🎉😊👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤩🥂
Thank you! I really appreciate it! Galatoire's is indeed a very special restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. Yeah, the service was incredible! I really hope that the next time I'm in New Orleans I can check out Commander's Palace too, because that also looks like another amazing restaurant!
It's one of my biggest dreams to visit New Orleans, and eat at Galatoire's. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience. 🌹
Thanks for watching! I really hope you get to experience New Orleans and Galatoire's!
Everything looked absolutely delicious again, James, and the atmophere was really special, for sure. You have a life, man... :)
Thank you! I'm just trying to make the best of it! Yeah, it was a great lunch at a great restaurant!
Elegantly filmed. Eloquently narrated. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Always a special place for family and friends. Hint: Listen closely to what the waiters recommend. They’re top notch.
It's definitely a great restaurant! And you're right! The waiters are incredible!
Love your videos man
Thank you! I always appreciate it!
I look forward to experiencing this restaurant for the first time in a few days. Thanks for the inside look.
Thanks for watching! I hope that you enjoy the restaurant!
A place I’ve been! Your channel reminds me of when I used to drive around the country finding all of the “Diners, drive-ins and dives” places to try. I now have other priorities but this reminds me of good times. ❤
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching!
You drank the sherry like a shot and you licked your plate. I think that is awesome.
Haha! Thanks!
I'm in Phila and ready to head to the airport!!!
Nice!
the experience looked really satisfying. the food looked delicious. the plating seemed a bit messy for such a high standard establishment. so good to hear that the service raised the bar and helped elevate the dining experience for you. I was so surprised you chose a humble bread pudding to end your meal but it certainly looked delicious. My mom would always make bread pudding for dessert so maybe that is why I have that idea it is a simpler dessert.
It was definitely a great lunch! Yeah, bread pudding may be pretty basic, but it's a dish I really enjoy and I heard that the restaurant offered a good one. I'm really happy I picked it for my dessert. I loved it!
@@Jamesnu good to hear...now I want some....lol
I wish you had had a companion to share this experience with you. Galatoire’s is an extra-ordinary restaurant I have visited on several occasions. My brother is a regular there and on several occasions he has been known to ask the waiter to add tiny live turtles to the turtle soup which causes some excitement!!!
That certainly was an incredible restaurant on multiple levels. Yeah, it would've been nice to share it with someone else, but I had such a great time even on my own.
You should buy a tuxedo if you revisit the restaurant! I imagine it's standard attire for eating turtle in the evening.
One has to dress classy when eating turtles!
YOU SHOULD BRING AN EXTERMINATOR IF YOU VISIT THE RESTAURANT THIS IS ONE OF THE RESTAURANTS HERE IN NOLA WITH THE BIGGEST RAT INFESTATION EVER..YOUR LUCKY IF YOU DON'T GET SICK FROM THE FOOD THEY CHARGE ALL THAT MONEY FOR
The background music was to fancy! Glad to had the Turtle Soup, we don't have that option often. I'm not sure if I would have ordered it.
Yeah, the turtle soup can sound a bit intimidating, but it's actually a pretty good flavor that wouldn't turn most people away if they just gave it a try. I liked it! I think it's good to be a bit adventurous with eating new things especially while traveling.
Didn't know turtle was still eaten in the US. My grandma (in Mexico) has a very old cookbook that was given to customers in the first supermarket in her hometown. It does have a Turtle Soup recipe but she says that even then it was consider a rare ingredient. I did try turtle soup in China and it was really good.
There’s another restaurant in New Orlean’s called Brennon’s that serves a turtle soup as well!
I was surprised as well, but I guess turtle is much more common in the area. I think the type of turtle may have actually changed over the years though. I'm happy I tried it. It was a satisfying dish!
@@haydencrain8463 I saw that. If I had more time I would've gone to Brennan's. I really wanted to try their bananas foster.
It would be fun to order the turtle soup and then eat it really, really slowly 😁
Haha! For sure!
You must be using a very substantial tripod in the closing narration because quite a few people's attention is drawn to what you are doing. BTW, I can't fathom how you find the time to respond to, at least from what I can see, every single comment on your videos; you do an astounding job.
Thank you! Yeah, with my tripod, camera, and microphone setup, I definitely stood out. If this were NYC, people are generally more used to stuff like that, but I didn't mind. Yes, I always try to respond to everyone. Sometimes, I could miss someone, but if a person took the time to watch one of my videos and write to me, I feel like it's only fair to give a reply.
John just retired last week
His retirement is well deserved! Out of all the restaurants I've been to he was one of the most memorable waiters that I've ever met. He really made my lunch special.
🇺🇸🇺🇸💕💕💕
Thanks for watching!
im surprised the plates came out not wiped on rim or soup cup ~ pretty sloppy for an elegant restaurant
I know what you mean, but I think the somewhat messy rim probably happened during the journey of the plates to my table.
Like many things these days, Galatorie's is NOT what it used to be. In the 70's and 80's, I ate here with my family at least 30 times and I am likely undercounting. In the last 5 years, I have been back twice. The food is not even close to what it once was.
I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm sorry to hear that.
You would think you are in France.
It definitely has some French vibes to it!
THEY HAVE THE BIGGEST RAT INFESTATION AT THIS RESTAURANT IN THE KITCHEN WHERE THEY PREPAER THE FOOD, DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE SO CALLED UPSCALENESS BECAUSE WHAT IS BEHIND THE SCENES IS GROTESQUE
Turtle soup ? 🤬
It was very tasty and a dish one doesn't see too often outside of New Orleans.
This guy gives me Dahmer vibes
Haha!
“Class and elegance”?
You didn’t live up to it, and you don’t even pronounce its name correctly. Imagine how much you’d have enjoyed it if you matched its elegance.
I'm surprised they let you in there looking like that.🥱
Jackets are only required for dinner.
