I love and appreciate the attention to detail that you use. IMPRESSIVE! I wasn't a WAGO fan but, since watching your installs, I have since reconsidered their use. I am old DIY electrician and still have tons of wire nuts that I need to use. I don't do too much residential electrical these days but when I do, my stash of electrical hardware comes in real handy. I love the BEFORE and AFTER OLD vs NEW Boiler comparisons. So neat and clean.

Been watching your channel for the last few weeks, ironically today my AC went out, No fan or compressor in outside condenser was running. Grabbed the muti meter and tested the contactor and capacitor. Capacitor was out of spec and the contactor had a big fat juicy bug suck in it. Clean it out and got a new capacitor put in and she is up and running. My AC guy was 1 week out and no way I was waiting that long

I once replaced a coal converted to fuel oil converted to LP furnace!! There was 6 of us there trying to get this Sherman tank out of the Michigan basement. I came up with the idea to strap it to a refrigerator cart. Then run a strap thru the handles and we pulled it out the bilco doors with my truck. Lol. Whatever it takes. Right.

I have been doing steam boilers for 43 years never seen pvc on a tank I have to give you and your gang credit great job keep it up
I don't care if the door is worth nothing. I would save it as a testament to old fashioned American engineering. Back when companies took pride in their products and built things to last

Still cutting and threading pipe instead of mega pressing. Also you can put a chisel in a hammer drill and split them old boiler sections more efficiently.
Great job and great crew. Danny is getting the hang off it. Lotta stuff he has learned to cope with in a couple of months. My first job in the trade was burying oil tanks in a 4ft wide 6 ft long and 4 ft deep hole.

I still have old stock conex connectors ( wirenuts in europe ) neve ever use them .. using wago's for more then 20 years .. never had a burned one ..

I’m not a hvac or plumber been in auto repair all my life but definitely enjoy watching you videos.
They also use oil in the trappings and on the mating faces of the sections,on those tiny little boilers you may be ok,but big boilers you have to skim(steam clean) they will jump off their friggen pads of you dont!

Looking at the boiler gas supply line, I don't see a drip leg. Is it required ? You have one on the water heater. Just asking for knowledge sake.
Depends on where the system is located. Every jurisdiction is different here kind of but yes.

That big unit reminds me of the old gas units that used anti freeze and had pvc pipes ran thru the attic that would crack and drop the sheet rock from the ceiling while you slept or decided to go out of town on a 2 week vacation...
That wilder beast is nothing compared to what we have were I work. None are in operation anymore, but they were at least 2 to 3 times that size and primarily cast iron and no outer sheeting. They started out as coal fired and then converted to oil at some point. These relics would be from the 20's, 30's & 40's. One unit would heat multiple buildings with underground piping between the buildings. We have had some removed, and some are trapped were you can not get to them anymore. The areas they resided in had reinforced concrete ceilings and block wall surrounding it and the majority were in concrete pits. The few we had removed, the guys went in with sledge hammers and busted them up into small chunks.

Here in Houston TX they go after you; I've found some inspectors who usually retired from the trade to be very helpful.

i worked in the field after discharged from the navy,, from '76---'98. threw it all in and relocated to Belize. it is interesting to see the changes going on. just learned about wago's and bought me some. never seen one of them crimp tool thingy, never seen shark bites either.

Self tapping drill points do the trick
The boiler gas pipe that comes down the wall then does a 90' transition to horizontal you need a drip leg there mate :-)

I am all for installing new boilers I have installed hundreds, but the bad thing is that they never last half as long as the old one.
Most steam boilers last 8 to 12 yrs. Surgex is the best chemical to use. I have a retired co worker boiler mechanic that has a Weil McLain eg4 steam with a coil, it is 53 yrs old. Clear view service road your side of the bridge.
