- We try our best to resurrect 2 abandoned ambulances from the freedom factory for our good buddy!!
Don't forget to grab all your JH Diesel merch from www.baldeagle.com
i think james is gunna be the first man to knock somebody out with a nitrous bottle without even touching them lmfao !
I love that you invested in the mics! It's funny hearing both of you but both of you can't hear each other 🤣
I love watching neglected diesel engines start after years of sitting.
You should watch Zip Ties and Bias Plies, his channel is hilarious
very satisfying
@@JHDieseland4X4 1/2 ain't bad.
No ketchup big sad.
@@JHDieseland4X4 iron horse in perry. October 13th weekend!?!?!?!!!
All you needed was a Hobo Freight kit and a couple wobble pops and they'd be running somehow. I don't know. Seen some Northerner do it. Bottled my mind right up.
A fella has got some good ideas
Loving the new mics... Great investment.
If you need to buy batteries remember costco sell interstate batteries and they are usually 80 90 bucks last i checked. Waaaaaayyyyy cheaper than orielly or advance
Rural king has group 31 exide for 60 something on sale couple times a year.
Just bought one for my Tundra was 119$ from Costco for Interstate.
@@bobaque70 damn they have gone up
True story
You need alot more Cold Cranking Amps for diesel applications, as the compression in the motor is usually twice as much as petroleum cars, those 80-90 dollar battaries struggle to turn over VW 1.9 TDI's, they wont stand a chance starting a massive v8 or inline 6 diesel, there's no such thing as cheap batteries for diesels, your cheapest route is buying Optima Marine grade batteries, that way you only take a hit once. My two, (yes my truck takes two massive batteries) in my 5.9 cummins cost $1800 CDN. And that was a deal, but they're 11 years old now, truck sits for months on end, as i only use it rarely, to tow, and literally has never not turned over for me, in cold as F Ontario Canada.
I am so happy to see you trying to get them fixed. As an EMT I was stoked when Cleet got them, but saddened not to see them being used for anything.. Cool old ambos... Juts FYI, ambos are very complicated, especially the coolant and A/C lines, as in most rigs they share the heat and AC from the engine with the attached box (others have separate HVAC units, but those were expensive options.) So you have a lot of additional hoses running around. In the real old days, we had hand valves to shut off heating in the summer... Besides that and the additional electrical, they are a basic E350 cab... Anyway, I hope Cleet has some good plans for them..
I would think it's cheaper to just outsource the paramedics with their own ambulances.
@@adrianspeeder No way they go back in service.. I just hope he does something cool with them though... just dont give them to wistlin' Diesel or Bruce Wilson.. LOL
Man the audio sounds amazing. Those mics were such a good idea.
Awesome video guys! I love the fact that y'all are two normal guys.
The beauty of a diesel. Can start up and run from sitting pretty long without worrying the fuel going bad. But air in the injector system...imagine doing that alone!
You’re so lucky to live in Florida. Those would’ve rusted out and hit the scrap yard 15+ years ago in Michigan. Now I’ll have to go find the keys to my old 7.3 and give it a good revive and drive this weekend.
hurricane ian might change how u feel about florida
move
to some where dry and sunny? arizona new mex cali nevada utah
Entertaining as always JH!
Alright I’m done with this James
*blows shirt out of frame*
Awesome lol
I love seeing the behind the scenes especially the junk yard and all the crown vics
Ain't gonna be a junkyard for long. There is a reason Chet has asked him to get them out of there and over to JH's lot.
@@davefroman4700 well do share this reason.🤔
...and it only took 1.3275640892 days to do it!
@@davefroman4700 I agree cleet is building something what do you think it's going to be?
Sprintboat track
For sure the muffler bearing was clogged up!!! Definitely need to check out those deals!!!!
That opening is great!!!
That other coolant line runs back to patient compartment. Should be a T connection somewhere in that mess to hook it up
Loved my Ford idi trucks.
Non-turbo 7.3 idis make so much smoke lol. I always turned the IP to max on these when I had em. Never had egt issues like the old timers said I would either.
Max the pump, throw new injectors in, and you'll have a smoke-show Ambulance.
And no Power. Put a Turbo on and you find Power
@@Thommpsen Pushhh, its not a tow-truck, who cares lol!!!
This brings me back to a not so good time! Thanks anyhow!
JH, from the start of the video I was amazed at the quality! It was like k was watching an episode of Dirt Every Day! Great Work
Steppin up a notch with the mics! 👌🏼🤘🏼
Used to do hundreds of these ambulance n mini school busses. I hated some of them as they put the batteries under the bed in a box on the chassis so changing batteries was a pain would just take a Sawzall to the box to make life easier. Every manufacturer would be sure to have short enough cable to the batteries to where you gotta fight for it. Also I loved getting the new guy to spray ether in the intake right as the glo plugs fire up and scare the daylights out of them. We would crash these things like crazy n rip them apart with a skid steer. So much fun.
Lots of vehicles just chillin damnn
Those hoses go back to the box for rear heat. I built ambulances for almost 20 years. Fummy is I started on that vintage.
Find out what Chet paid for those so we can all Shame him lol! In a nice fun way
So the burnout version gets a driver quick release for the stretcher lock, right? Then during a burnout you can fling stretchers at a designated corner for points.
Good video
JH that was the perfect car for the project though! 😂 it was a diesel experiment it had to be your car
The boneyard is lit love it
2 meat wagons with sweet paint being brought back from the grave yard hell yea brother
Them mics 🎤 are a game changer! 👍🏽
Cheers bud 👍👍👍
A Diesel burnout ambulance is kinda sick tho...
Justin is on to something
Sorry JH but it had me laughing so hard with the heater hose situation
Chet Retired from CZcams after the SXS joint venture.
Maybe it was the Tesla racecourse crash he had 🤷♂
He was fine with SXS
The Nos intro are gold 😂
Cold starting an old IDI is a good way to chase off the misquitos...
supposedly you can take an idi starter nose cone and bolt it to a 6.0 starter motor
I feel like you should have brought old Zip ties and bias plies down to show you the right way to cold start a IDI
I'll take a 6.9 or 7.3 idi's before I ever buy electronic diesel anything. I've owned 4 7.3 idi's and a 6.9. They maybe slow, but they will pull. My current is a 1993 f250 7.3 idi with 143,000 original miles.
But they are slow as shit. Modern diesels won't crank and run like these in 30 years, but I actually want to do highway speed by the end of the ramp while towing.
brother the intro for merch was INSANE LUL
Junkyard vids are awesome
The fact they ran it on diesel is too goood
Ooh... nothing jumped at me 🤣🤣🤣
Hell yeah brother 🇺🇸🦅
JH to the rescue!! Can't hurt then old IDIs with either. They luv that shit. Just ask PEG at ZiptiesandBiasplys!!! Wrenched on em 25yrs never blew one up with it !!!
Garrett better be careful. The EPA will come down on him hard if not carful.
I was a customer in the back of one of those Southwest ambulances about 12 years ago, after getting rear-ended at a red light by a texting kid. His Daddy paid out a chunk for Junior's driving.
You know if you hold the exclamation point on the NOCO jump pack it feeds a constant high 14 volt to the battery
Sure hope you put a wrench on the second ambulance and make sure the engine isn't locked up.
Check out R&Didi. Injectors are cheap, turn the pump up a little, turbo??
Haha dang a mouthful of NOS 🚗💨🦅🇺🇸
Put a big rig deisel in the back of one of those, make it crazy
I would love to have that ambulance to live in.
Give your truck little Ferraro it will boost the ambulance to start
Them Ferds love ether..
Brother you need a JNC Jump-N-Carry large battery jump box, they last way longer and are way better then that little thing.
Bet it had a second heater core for the back.
He'll ya get them going and tell cletus I need sum derby cars lol
After all that nitrous, I was surprised you didn't start talking super fast.
I believe those have and front and rear heater core and evaporator
"...these engines really like to get the glow plugs hot".... followed by @17:43
i'd love to see you dig into one of those engines.....maybe swap it into the f1 smokems puit abig ol turbo on it.
Would be awesome if chet hooked these deals up real nice!!!
On those trucks they have two banks of battery's one for the engine and the other for the back like the accessories and stuff that way you don't need the truck running to have the lights and stuff on in the back and i think those battery's on the side are for the back of the truck
Zip ties and bias plies needs these!
Old peg leg would get that thing screaming.
Belly door behind passenger side usually has a few batteries
Whatever happened to the freedom factory tow truck you guys should try to get that going
Best intro ever
I seriously want the radio antennas off the top of those. I'll pay! also any off the crown vics left over!
Time for Cleetus to have a Ambulance race 25 laps
Oh No. Is that Bruce Wilson's fire engine sitting back there?
Just wow
Mics are a BIG upgrade
yay
i use to drive and work on 7.3L diesels up here in wisconsin. All of them had Ether setups for cold days and thats how the would act around 20 30 degrees until you pushed the button. down in the negative temps them things hates or wouldnt start. i loved the power and reliability but unfortunately being in the cold with 300k or more miles they just
became some finicky fuckers. im a gas mechanic so them thing threw me through the ringer. only good part was cold winter day i could pull the dog house off and sit in the cab and work with a space heater going.
A big tarp draped and clamped over the front end with a heater get me through many repairs. It can get downright comfortable even in nasty conditions
No high idle on the Duramax to charge them??
I think James should have NOS privileges revoked lol
wicked channel :-)
That was a heater line going to the heater in the back of the ambulance. My guess.
Did ya know there's normally a master switch on the left drivers side? Depending on how they're wired, will depend on how they're wired to the batteries. The master power switch will be on the left side drivers door side, normally they're on the floor or they can be mounted on the side of the seat. They put them in so shorts in wiring don't drain the batteries. There's a lot of equipment that run off of inverters like suction, lights, heaters, and various other things for the rear of rig/bus/ambulance.
I laugh because we had just got a brand new rig, my Paramedic partner was driving and I asked him when he started smoking. I knew he doesn't smoke and withing seconds we were calling in the Calvary (Law Enforcement, Fire, and othe rigs) we did the chinese fire drill I asked B if he had turned off the Master switch. By then the first of the Calvary was showing up and B was about to get roasted (the business!)LOL. What caused the fire? It was a bad inverter and the company setting up the rigs decided they'd put the Inverter under the drivers seat.lol After that a lesson was learned and they changed putting the inverter under the drivers seat and put them in the rear of the rig, normally opposite side of the Oxygen tanks. We still laugh our booty's off, and B was the butt of the joke 99.9% 🤣 of the time. A brand new rig almost burned to the ground that day, all B had to do was turn the master switch off and we wouldn't of needed the Calvary. LOL
yes sir. These switches look identical but one has batteries under the hood and the other is in the box in the back
@@JHDieseland4X4 don't be surprised if you find two more batteries, normally they put two for the chassis and two for the rear. I laughed 😅 soooo hard after watching your video, and imstill smiling. Some of our best rigs weren't diesel they were gas powered. The DOT finally stepped in because the gas ones were death traps.
On the passenger side of the ambulance there is a battery compartment on the chassis by the door to walk into the ambulance part
U should let Sam clean them so they will be nice and shiny!
Have ol Peg at ZipTies and Bias Plys teach u about the 7.3 idi. he loves em
Those generation of ambulances would smoke the E4OD trans, they weren't built for paramedics to drive that much weight like it was stolen.
Maybe Uncle Chet will buy u a new compound like the SXSBlog guys if u do more "favors" for him 😅👍
JH has got a bought and paid for revenue generating compound already. Why whould he ghet a nhew one?
@@slumericanfeller7441 To grow the channel, all YTbers expand at some point 👍
Was a joke btw 😅
I've been wondering about thoes ambulances forever 🤣🤣
It hurt to see that dog get run over!!
I honestly want to know if any single person has owned more crown Vic’s at this point.
Rear auxiliary heater
You need the Cosby sauce and watch some Zip ties and bias plies !!!
freedom brother
IDI?! You need Peg from Zip Ties and Bias Plias. He knows IDIs more than he knows his own name lol
Lol, your intro 2as very funny
Send them to peg!
You need a medium duty self loader man
I can’t believe nobody hit the sirens or lights a single time😂😂
IDI's want all the Cosby Sauce, not a little bit.
I was always told that if the jumper cables are hooked up and have good contact. That waiting a sec for the battery to charge isn’t a thing. And thinking about it you can start a car with no battery if you have jumper cables hooked to you + & -
Electricity will take the path of least resistance, the cables have better contact with the battery then they do the jumper cables. Best way to avoid that is put the jumper earth straight to the block or take the earth off the flat battery so it will have to use the jumper battery power..
That's absolutely wrong. I always use the most expensive cables and I always smoke a cigarette while it charges. If you ever plan to leave a vehicle for more than a week, always disconnect the battery, it will prevent the battery from being completely drained
The cables frequently can't transfer enough amperage needed through the clamps. So letting the dead battery charge a bit does generally help. The charging battery assisting can be all the difference. That's partly why he had such difficulty starting with just cables...
Isn't there a doghouse in the cab you can take off to get to the starter from the top? At least for giving it a few swats anyways. It might be buried under ambulance junk though, I haven't been in the front seat of one of those.
yes there is but as you said its buried under ambulance junk
