In a crime-ridden neighborhood deep in the heart of Brazil, a young woman named Flordelis rose up to become a singer, a wealthy pastor of six mega-churches, and a politician… Most noteworthy, however, was becoming a mother to 55 children. But behind the scenes of this saintly woman was a life of scandal, corruption, and strange love affairs that would give way to a scandalous downfall. This is the story of how an evangelical empire of a powerful woman once hailed as The Mother of The Nation came crumbling down.

I couldn't wrap my head around the idea that this woman thought murder would be better than divorce. That's just insane.
"Till death do us part". Make sense to me.
unfortunately it happens a lot, although statistically it's men who kill their estranged wives or have them killed rather than get a divorce because in the toxic masculinity mindset, getting divorced means you're less of a man. not true, but yanno. a fair to decent amount of women will do it as well, but that's usually because of money (can't afford a divorce/life insurance) or custody of children. it's why when someone is murdered, police always look at the spouse or significant other first, especially if there were problems in the relationship.
As an adoptee into a big family with lots of adoptees, this really makes me sick. I made a video once ranting about people who adopt gaggles of us because it’s OBVIOUSLY a red flag, we don’t get the care we need, and we are basically accessories of our hero complex fueled parents. There needs to be more of a stigma against people who do this stuff because it’s obviously not actually for the kids after a certain point.
Sorry that happened to you. Hope you’re doing well now 💛
I'm also very sorry you had to go through something so awful. I decided a very long time ago that I'm never having children, because I'm too selfish and impatient, I'd ruin their childhoods and possibly cause traumas. People are very cavalier about having kids and it's infuriating to me. Being a parent is a huge responsibility and I would like to see compulsory psych tests implemented on anyone who wishes to reproduce or adopt, otherwise we will never end this terrible cycle. Way too many people who shouldn't even dream of being parents end up having kids and those poor kids suffer as a result.
I'm sorry you had that experience. My parents adopted 12. They had 2 of their own before. A whopping 14 kids. I don't know how they did it honestly. They didn't want the biological brothers and sisters separated by the system. The first 5 were adopted then me and 3 brothers and 3 sisters. We honestly couldn't have had a more loving family. I thank God everyday for my parents. We wanted for nothing and I can't remember a time either of my parents weren't there if I needed a cuddle or talk about something.
Keep fighting we hear you ❤

Brazilian viewer here, great video! One small correction tho: being on the Chamber of Deputies in Brazil isn't like being a State Governor in US, it's more like being on the House of Representatives. Keep up the good work!
thanks for the clarification, so your sayig shes like a local or constituency rep? in ireladn we call them TD and they can go to government or they end up on the provincial council of sorts

sounds like she was to represent the area she came from right?
@@ivydowling75 In Brazil, the Chamber of Deputies is not elected on a district basis. It's open-list proportional representation: the state (province) of Rio de Janeiro gets a number of deputies proportional to its population. Then those seats are divided among the parties proportional to their votes on the state. Party A got X% of votes, they get around X% of seats, Party B got Y% of votes, they get around Y% of seats, etc. She was elected through the Social Democratic Party (despite the name, it's a centrist big-tent party).
@@ivydowling75 Long story short, federal deputies in Brazil are like Reps in the US, or MPs in the UK, or TDs in Ireland, but technically they represent their whole states instead of a specific district.

What is it with these big families being addicted to ruining childhoods instead of actually helping their kids? It’s such a disgusting trend that massive families just result in broken adults.

I watched an old doc on prostitution on Brazil and it’s an eye opener. A lot of Brazilians women are poor and starving and prostitution is the easiest way to make money. Foreigners have unprotected sex with women and children. It’s quite disgusting. I remember a mother was crying about how the men didn’t want her but her daughters and the would be out all night alone roaming the garbage filled street. The mother was always scared they would never come home. There was also two little boys that were wearing heels and walking the street so they can buy some rice. Brazil Is really messed up. I’m gonna try to find the documentery
People with big egos have big families. Its selfish because regardless of money no one can give so many children the actual one on one time & care they need.
Mental illness
As a Brazilian, I approve of this video. It is way more informative and precise than many stories published in local media.
True!!!!
There’s so much more about this! I highly recommend this book “Flordelis: A pastora do diabo” written by Ulisses Campbell.
Loved loved loved your work here. Stellar! I googled more and found a testimonial from the grand daughter of Flordelis who, back by other accounts from the couple’s kids, were suffering physical and s*xual assault from the husband. So incredibly sad, for all the kids who were affected by this couple’s absolute craziness.
I grew up AOG. Being abused as a child I had C-PTSD. It would manifest as anxiety, nightmares, and feelings like I was seeing things. I wasn't even 5 when it started. My pastors were convinced it was me seeing into the spirit realm and would encourage me to do things that triggered me so I could see more demons and angels and pass on that knowledge. It made the C-PTSD worse. And that is the least horrible thing I faced growing up AOG. Not all pastors were bad, four churches (and 4 pastors) across 2 states, 1 of them was a normal loving and rational person.
AOG itself may not be considered a cult, but the way Pentecostals are, the way we are taught, the charismatic notions we carry, the deep dives into demons and angels, we prime ourselves for cults to branch within and off of our church. Change needs to happen if the AOG wants to continue without hurting people, as Jesus wouldn't want people being hurt.
I am so sorry that happened to you. I hope you’re healing and feel safe now xx

Aog? Is that assembly of god?
The worst of it for me, is the evil of brainwashing children away from their families🥺 I can't imagine how shattered those families must've been losing their kids to this crazy woman. And I guess they wouldn't have had the courage to call her out or expose her to the authorities, because they would be religious people and wouldn't want to make God angry or whatever. This doc really made me feel upset! She ruined the lives of all those kids to serve her own stupid ego
Right?! And now a lot of them are in prison for trying to please her so they wouldn't be locked in solitary confinement for 21 days 😡
Plenty of people in favelas, which are basically the ghettos over there, don't have a lot of education. They often have to drop out of school to help their families. It also doesn't help that the cartels rule those places
It's Brazil, they wouldn't be worried about angering god, they would be worried that she used her power to kill her and with the corrupt police it wouldn't be investigated because they were poor. This is a country which had until recently police sponsored death squads who went around and just kill poor people including kids (which is how she adopted some of these kids in the first place)
You are very good at telling these stories. Articulate, organized and well thought out words!
I have watched several of your documentaries and I think they are very well done, informative, and intriguing. Thank you for your work.
A day before I watched your documentary on this woman, I was telling my daughter how I've seen so many true stories of deeply religious people choosing murder of their spouses over divorce, due to the shame. She was very surprised when I told her this. When I watched this yesterday, I had never heard of this woman from Brazil. Boy, she checked all the boxes of evil behavior as a well-known pastor. I was afraid to watch this documentary because it said that she married her son, and I wasn't sure I wanted to see that. It was still evil what she did by marrying a young man she pretended to adopt, but at least it wasn't a blood-related son since she did have children with her husband that she ended up murdering. I told my daughter about this story and I plan to forward this documentary to her.
People, if you are unhappy with your spouse and it's not going to work out, don't murder them. A divorce is a much better choice.
These are not Christians you are talking about. These are false prophets that the Bible warns us about. They know they are evil and are preying on the innocent. The symbol fleur de lis, is actually a satanic mind control symbol.
@@MegaMisfit138 It's not up to you to decide who are Christians and who are not Christians. Every time people in your group do some really horrible things, people like you pretend like they are not part of the same group you are, but they are. You know why? Because they say so. You say you're a Christian. And if someone says you're not, you're not going to listen to them and say that yes you are. I don't care if you're a Christian or not. Just don't cheat on people and murder them. It's not that hard.
@@cmcordoYT It says in the Bible that Christians are judged by the fruits of their labor. I go by what GOD says, so your opinion is irrelevant. The Bible also warns of us false prophets. I don't listen to the opinions of man, when GOD has given me the gift of discernment. My judgement isn't what they have to worry about when they die. People lie, so why would you even think she is a Christian, when she goes against all the laws of the Bible?
@@MegaMisfit138 I guess since what I say is irrelevant to you, what you say about it is also irrelevant. She said she is a Christian. You say you are a Christian. You say she is not a Christian. She would probably say you were not a Christian. Who the heck cares? You're just mad because a lot of Christians are pieces of crap and, therefore, you deny them as being one of yours. Sorry to bust your bubble, but a high percentage of your group are liars, scammers, greedy liars, and do their best to continue this pattern, especially those who are trying to make this a Nationalist Christian Country, where they get to declare anything them deem a sin as an actual crime and want to run this country like the Taliban. You be a Christian with your "discernment", but stay out of my and other people's lives when it comes to every day situations that are none of your business.
@@cmcordoYT GOD gave us free will. Otherwise our belief in him would mean nothing. Followers of the Bible do not believe in forcing religion on people. You are misinformed. No need to be nasty. I was not nasty with you. You can judge a whole group of people by the actions of some, but that's very prejudice of you. If you want to know the truth, don't look at people, look at what Jesus preached. We are taught to love our neighbor. It's not GOD's fault if people chose to misrepresent him. I will pray for you.

It’s mostly a con or group hypnotism that’s not the spirit of the lord. It is confusion no where in the Bible do you see these acts. I’m always Leary of people when they say “ The lord told me, or The Lord spoke to me” because now you have a private interpretation coming from who knows where. It’s basically feeding off peoples ignorance of the Bible and their hopes n desires of getting out of a negative spiritual, financial, and psychological lifestyle. It’s like when a girl or guy is being led along in a relationship. Everything is good until you start questioning where are we going with this? All of it is one sided n selfish it’s not love it’s controlling n manipulative it only benefits the one person. Imma need more of these documentaries I binge watched everything ❤❤❤
So, the parents didn’t go to her house and ask for their children back??
Flordelis is a typical example of ''the path to hell is built on good intentions''. I am sure she started with good intentions as a preacher but then the ''fame, glory and money'' has changed her from inside out. After preaching wasn't good enough so she start singing, acting, profiting of the poor children and than the boundaries between good and evil are lost.....As with many corrupt preachers the ''good'' disappears but the self - centered evil emerges and takes over....
I agree. I’m surprised not many people are noticing this. It seems she just wanted to act on her faith and what she believed when she began as a child but it all took a dark turn
@@edylan3033 my friend - people see what they wanna see and the most of the times is misconception..... They don't know - what they don't know...Majority of people don't reason but judge ...
@shrewd fearless well said!
“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain “
I don't think she changed much I have thought she always had these traits and used them to improve her life when good fortune came to her she pushed for more because she has always been ambitious, had a high self of importance and craved admiration
This story kind of reminds me of Mary Cosby from Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Preacher of a church who married her Grandfather, and whose congregation believes her to be god. Love your videos!!!!
Wait what? 💀
😟 what?
What the heck?! Her grandpa????
I thought the same thing!!!!
That breaks my brain.
I normally don't subscribe to any channels nor do I press the like button for videos, I just watch and keep it movin. I must say I like your videos, there really good. I am a new subscriber. Thanks for your good editing skills. Nice
OMG, I hope you make a video of Mary from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. That story is INSANE!
Seems like she started off with good intentions but over time became power hungry which resulted in doing anything to stay at the top. She is not the first and unfortunately she won’t be the last
From the inception of time. She definitely channeling some nefarious entity and it’s not God .
Most cult leaders start with good intention..Pride and Greed is a monster that has destroyed many men and women.
@@ladylelep.1946 and not only cult leaders we see it in politicians, celebrities, business owners, law enforcement, it’s endless. Absolute powers corrupt absolutely. It’s frightening to see that us humans can’t handle power. We turn into monsters. She had so many times to turn it around. She could have used her power for good but she chose the other route. Thanks for your comment😁
@@tashastanding7733 Exactly!!! Especially when we see history repeat itself so many times 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️😫😫😫
I don't think having children digging in nasty dumpsters for food is good intentions.
@@thedarkknight4956 towards the beginning of the video her good intentions were mentioned. I personally don’t believe any one is born evil. Sociopaths and Psychopaths we often see develop those awful behaviours through childhood trauma, rejection etc Of course, I didn’t mean the atrocities she was doing to those children through the documentary I can highlight the exact moment she became a monster and the zenith of her terrible reign
Gees, this sounds like a crime novel. You did a brilliant job presenting it. I really love your work.
Wow wow your bio is a great piece of work very proud you...thanks for sharing knowledge here God bless sista
I like your documentaries
Well done
Girl, HBO max just came out with a documentary series about her, literally starting it now
What’s the name of it? 😅
Yea what’s the name please
I'm always suspicious of those who profess to be God's chosen one
This is a great channel! Well done.
I just discovered your channel today. Watched one video and subscribed. Love your content. You do amazing amazing amount of research and gathering of photos/videos. You have a great narrating voice. Bravo!
WOW. I’m only 20 seconds in, adopting 50 kids is already a major 🚩. She seems power-crazed , Can’t wait to digest this video
There are people who adopt kids to geniunely look after them,it's not the red flag.
The red flag was her have poster as the "Ministry of Flordeli" in her name and the mugs 🌞 . She wasn't with the power of God,she was preaching about herself
Sometimes they were not even adopted, she used to have sex with some and sometimes she would add random kids to fool people into thinking she had 50, but she had more or less 40 children, some were homeless people. PS: this is according to Professionals that were studying the case.
This video does a very good at showing how much these religions dominate and exploit the poorest regions of the country. I’m from Rio too but from a upper middle-class Portuguese Catholic family, so had never even heard of flordelis until she started being investigated for her husbands death and it broke the news. Yet, despite not being known much in my circle, she was an elected politician with a cult to personality kind of following. This is soooo common in Brazil, we even have a wing in congress called the “evangelical wing”, full of people like her, who promote lots of conservative and moralist stuff, while doing everything they preach against behind doors.
We have these ignorant people in our Congress as well, and especially in local & state politics
@@volitionspark2686 It started out small by them running for and winning School Board seats. Especially in the Southern U.S. States.
What a wild story! Loved it from beginning to end.
Thank you for the story.
Omg ive been subscribed to this channel for a while now, i'd never think you would do a video about this. I'm brazilian myself and raised evangelical, I remember my mom taking me and my siblings to watch a sunday service where she was preaching, everyone thought she was like, a superstar lol
Trouble is when they think they're a superstar! Get way above their station & their ego's inflate

@Cheryl Dunaway thank you so much for watching! 💜💜💜
6:18 Bonus points for the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” movie clip lol!
AND “There Will Be Blood”?!? 6:46 Nice!!!
This was an interesting tale. The narration was very good.
This is an absolutely brilliant presentation, well done. I like following the investigations into the scandals of so-called religious leaders but I wasn't sure I really wanted to spend 40 minutes on this case that I've never heard of. Thought I'd just peek a bit, but instead, found myself riveted from beginning to end. Not only that, I've spent another couple of hours digging through other sources, and it appears everything discussed in this video checks out. No sensationalism, simply the facts. If only all CZcams videos were of this professional and truthful calibre! Immediately subscribed. 👍👍
When I lived in Germany, I babysat for a lovely Puerto Rican family. I went to church with them once, like this, people speaking in tongues...scared the crap out of me! I was only like 13. Yikes!
Americans do this to. My mother in law does this and in her case it is definitely mental illness.
@@sfooshy4517 OH, definitely. Tons of Americans. That's just where I was introduced. Traumatizing. Sorry about your mother-in-law's illness.
Most religion is a form of mental illness, believing in things that aren't there, that's delusional...
Tongues is a legitimate thing, it's through tongues that the event of Pentecost happened with the Apostles. It doesn't work like how you see in those types of churches.
Anyone purposely encouraging folks to speak in tongues like that is a fraud. St. Paul told the first churches that no one should speak in tongues in church if no legitimate translation could be provided, and no more than two or three should talk in tongues each waiting his turn. It wasn't expected that tongues would be even remotely common but a miracle with a purpose.
Legitimate tongues isn't random gibberish or weird chanting. It's speaking in a legitimate language without knowing it prior in order to provide a message about the gospel to someone in his native language, or a language he suddenly was given knowledge of through the gift of the understanding of tongues, and to serve as a miracle.
The sermon of Pentecost was to convert unbelievers who all spoke different languages and to speak to them all in one tongue. We don't see tongues happen on that scale again after that in scripture.
Whatever those Pentecost folks in the video are doing with the shaking and gibberish doesn't sound like biblical tongues.
@S Fooshy it's not mental speaking I tongues I can speak it and I am not crazy it's another language in the spirit someone need to translate if not it's not good or you need to know what you are saying .Some people repeat that's not from the spirit .
This woman crazy she wasn't called by the Universe only male is the head not a woman they always say God told them bit in the Bible says different what the Universe say .its all about money and these people fall for all this madness they only manipulate you to control you .
Too much gay and lesbians ,rapest and thief's Pastors and Priests, Bishops.
All the wickness they do people still follow them as their gods.
Lying to the people and they stay go to these churches .I don't feel for them .
Great work
I randomly found your channel and subscribed❤
This was a crazy story from beginning to ending. You did an amazing job breaking this all down for us.
I'm wondering when Netflix is gonna make a biographical movie about this who could play the role of Flordelis Dos Santos
@@skeaneableprobably Jennifer Lopez 🤷🏾♀️

So she really did just, groom a child, married him, and once he got "too big for his britches" she groomed another.

So, he was rushed to the hospital 6x and he didn’t get a clue?? 😮😮
Her name is quite unique I must say. As a francophone I’ve never heard of someone being called the fleur de lys. It’s a French heraldry and is translated to flower of lily or commonly known as Lilies. It does have a religious history with the virgin Marie and st Joseph are often depicted with a lily but still strange. It’s kind of like calling your kids flower of the desert. Or spring onion. It’s not a name even in French.
I noticed that too. ❤
Spring Onion 😂😂
That's really interesting, thank you!
Vous avez raison mais c'est quand même assez mignon comme prénom: Flordelis.
Right, but still cute and unique.
We are kind of creative with names
