And while i haven't played Myst in a long while, i dont recall Sirrus being a scientific geek - i remember him as a stuck up brat in this game. With his paintings, jewels, pelts of cloth and taxes... oh the taxes.
When it comes to video games, taking everything you see as literal (like believing Atrus didn't live on Myst Island) doesn't really seem to work. At the very least, there is always a certain amount conservation of details in any game since actually having to walk 5 miles to get anywhere wouldn't be very interesting (at least, if it took the same amount of time it does in real life to walk that distance). I actually imagined that the alcoves at the back of the dimensional imager chamber might actually be doorways to underground rooms where Atrus and his family lived, until I found information online that was apparently released by Cyan saying that the elevator in the Tower was the way they got to their living space.

@mimkyodar He was clearly mental in Myst 4 and bloodthirsty here in this game, but the reason I like Achenar in Myst 4 was his deep voice and his big imposing size. It seemed more fitting for the character. Actually, I thought Sirrus was more of a whiny brat in Myst 4 than he was in this game. I also think Robyn Miller's snark was perfect. It is a great loss that Robyn didn't go into acting.

Truth be told, I like Rand Miller's Achenar more because the crazed, squirrely behavior is a nice contrast to Robyn Miller's controlling, deceptive evi as Sirrusl. Both are bad, but more in chaos vs order (evil versions of both). Though, Achenar's change also fits to contrast Sirrus remaining as rationally deceptive.
It's funny: I like Robyn Miller's Sirrus more than Brian Wrench's version in Revelation, but I like Guy Spring's Achenar better than Rand Miller's Achenar.
Renee Benson There were plans to do so, but the miller brothers had a falling out with the production company, and clossed the project. Too many issues.
I agree a myst movie would be really cool if done right. I just miss games of this style in general. I remember being 7 or 8 when this first came out and I remember feeling genuinely scared at certain parts.

You are confusing people way too much. Atrus (star of Myst) is NOT D'ni. He is only half D'ni. Since Aitrus (his grandfather) was full-blood D'ni. Anna, who was from the surface, gave birth to Ghen, and he (in turn) gave birth to Atrus. Ghen was taught the Art by Anna (learned from Aitrus) who passed this knowledge (unwittingly) to Atrus. Atrus met Cathrine on Riven and gave birth to two sons: Sirrus and Achenar. Source: Myst: Book of Atrus and Book of Ti'ana.

I think she had some (to my mind utterly unwarranted) guilt over Gehn's childhood trauma of being a halfbreed. The little shit never outgrew that poor me mindset.

I always thought that whilst the stranger is here Catherine is trapped on Riven by Ghen hence why the messenge has not been deleted.
