- The CUBE Reaction Hybrid Pro 500 is a hardtail electric cross country mountain bike with nimble 2.6" plus sized tires, Boost hub spacing and a sturdy 15mm thru-axle on the front wheel, upgraded Alex rims with reinforcement eyelets. Only available in high-step, but the frame comes in six sizes and the smaller two offer 27.5" wheel size vs. 29" on the larger four, this scales the bikes appropriately, adds comfort, and optimizes rolling momentum. Beautiful motor and battery integration, the Bosch Performance Line CX is tipped up with two thin plastic skid plates and the PowerPack 500 is sunk into the downtube for optimal weight distribution. Compact Purion display panel isn't removable, doesn't swivel easily, and the buttons can be inconsistent, the centerdrive motor uses a 2.5x reduction gearing system which introduces some drag when pedaling unassisted or over 32km/h (20mph).

Amazing revieuw!
Thanx for making the life of a non educated enthusiast easier !
Im ordering one !
Big thx from belgium
I really appreciate Court posting the prices of rigs in many of the titles . As ebike become more ubiquitous in the west I feel like this channel being years ahead of it time can put the proper pressures on Ebike makers around the world . For many would-be-buyers Price is the 1st thing they want to know now as everybody offers the '20 mph (15 in CA) for 20 miles' thing.
Absolutely amazing review of this bike
Explained everything excellent
Got the exact same bike in May and have covered over 1000 miles.
It's a fantastic thing which has got me right back into biking with mostly 30+ mile trips and consistent range of 40-50 miles.
You do great reviews.
I got this a year ago and i've done about 1200km on the bike. I just changed the front fork to Rockshox (around 250€), which made it lot more fun. I recommend upgrading that one. Suntour aint the worst, but this case, it was well worth the money.
what is the top speed?
You can't compare 1000 made with an eBike and 1000 made with a normal bike.
@@macre8389 I don't think he is comparing eBikes to a normal bike, just saying he has gone 1000 miles. Miles are miles regardless of what you drive or ride.
I bought a 2020 Cube Reaction Hybrid Ex 625 29’’ last month (April 2020). My bike is quite like this bike in many aspects. I must say that your comments are quite right about this Cube bike. It is price point bike. The 'weakest link' of this bike is the fork. My bike came with the same fork. That is low value fork. After a few rides I had enough so I upgraded my fork to Rockshox Reba RL last week. A big difference when biking. It's also a good suggestion when riding with a hardtail to have a Suntour NCX SP12 Suspension Seatpost if you looking for more comfort. I've done that too !
These are so much fun to ride.I put a dropper post on mine.
Awesome reviews.
Would love to see a review to the Cube Stereo 160 SL. A real bargain and fun bike.
Thanks guys.
Great review thanks. I also watched your review of the Giant Explore E+ 4 2020. Which would you say in your opinion is the better bike? I’m looking at these for commute to work. Mostly along cycle routes and some minor trail routes. Any advice greatly appreciated 👍
I am very satisfied with the E Bike dee 2019 just wonder if it in any Tour Turbo or other position has to always reach 25 km or more, and if it is more does not damage the engine?
Thank you for helping me.
Hi. i loved mark's helmet. can you tell me witch brand is it?
forget it ... its Abos Hyban.
I really like this bike, could you do a review on the Cube acid hybrid one?
Hi thanks for your video. I have a question ( I am not at all an expert in bikes.. ) I bought this bike, and am considering to get a spare pair of wheel, with more road-oriented tires. Which wheel and which tire would you recommend ? thanks a lot :-)
I got one of these last week on sale at 99bikes in Australia. Really great bike, very enjoyable ride. Excellent price point for the quality.
intomysea I’m planning to get one here in Melbourne! Do you recommend it for commute too ? I just want a cool bike hehe
Just got one. Got a bit of deal on it too in Surrey. Working on my set up still.
Not a fan of the handlebar geometry. New stem? The grips are like ROCKS, ergos ordered.
Probably get a suspension post. When you are maxed out it doesn't feel like 30+km/hr.
Surrey UK or Canada?
I’m about to buy my 1st Electric bike and have decided on the Cube Reaction but unsure whether to buy the Gen 3 Hybrid Pro or the slightly more expensive Gen4 Hybrid Performance. My style of riding will be 50% Road,50% Fire Roads/off Road , no downhill or tree root stuff.
Which model do you think I should buy?.. any advice from anyone would be gradually received.
giant fathom and fastroad pro very hard to find a review on them bikes...maybe you could have a look into them ?
@19:51 And this s why e-Bikes get legislated against. Take it easy on those dual purpose paths, especially on blind corners.
He treated the people like they were inanimate objects and gave them no space or respect. The videographer on the other hand gave them a lot of space, a cheerful hello and a wave! What a contrast.
Can he not cycle more over to the left or what?
I know we keep left in the U.K. but wow.
Hi. Excellent review as usual.I want to buy a bosch performance CX road bike in europe. I am quite worried about the drag after 25 kmh without assistance. I can also buy the same bike with the bosch active line plus. No drag in this last one. Like an expert in ebikes ,what do you prefer? Active plus or performance CX. In flat roads i would go without assistance. But i also have very big mountains nearby.
Garikoitz Amenabar I bought this bike with the CX motor and immediately found the drag at 25 kph a big problem so fitted a Badass unit to it and now the drag doesn’t come in until it hits 50 kph and it now a dream to ride.

This is going to be a stupid question i think but what is a badass??
Or manufacturers start equiping good quality pedals or it is gonna be the first thing to change on a bike. But there is not really a good reason to include pedals on a bike. They are cheap and everybody has their own preference so it's gonna be the first thing to change on a bike anyway. Cutting the price of the pedals and leave that choice to the buyer and shop seems to be the smart thing to do
Only complaint is the tires, had the rear go flat in the first week because of a faulty valve. Then a week later after having the first one fixed both my tires randomly stopped holding air altogether. Had to ride 6km’s home on completely flat tires :/
There is safety systems in the battery, we with E bikes dont normally have a big enough distance to do the 20 /80 thing , the Bosch system is not a good one for people with poor legs as it is heavily biased towards torque and if your legs are bad you can't put that torque in, if your legs are bad get a cadence sensor bike as it will help you get back into cycling without murdering your legs.
After a week or two on the bike your legs got more muscles and the problem is no more. (:
Not really . The Cx motor does rely on a faster cadence to move the bike but the high assist levels make it very easy to pedal only you have to pedal a little faster NOt harder . I have one of these bikes and with my bad back and weak legs and my age of 74 i still find it very easy to tackle the steepest hills .
Same bike i have Except mine had a Rockshox Judy with lockout triggers and my Alexrims spokes are black also the colour is black but mine has neon blue stripes, being a hard-tail it is a but rougher but range is better i can get 40 miles plus on wet roads/paths. I paid £2.300 British pounds for mine and love it. Only regret is not getting a Full Suspension bike for comfort hence the reason i bought soft saddle suspension seat post and ergo grips. I also de-restricted my motor and it helps Big Time. All in all.. a great commuter / off road Solidly Built E-bike. Ahh Just noticed Mine is the Hybrid Reaction Pro RACE Version hence why mine is slightly better.
I have this too and drestricted it....great ride , roll on the summer so i can get back out on it
How did you de-restricted the motor?
Hi there. How have you found the paintwork? I'm thinking of purchasing the same bike as the video, but I'm a little bit anal about scratches. I read somewhere that it scratches easily...but this could have been just the owner being rough :-)
🐱🐈😺🦁 Yeehaw
Try getting one with with all that you want on it. Good luck.
Good review as usual, but ... the helmet with the tag is unwatchable :)
Agree, I kept seeing that! Maybe Mark was in a rush to leave the store or just grabbed a "new" helmet. Not the best look, or confidence inspiring for customers who might get that helmet :(
Unwatchable! really?
Cool helmet what the make of it please
Bro you need one of those insta 360 camera on a selfie stick so we can see the whole bike as you ride. Then ride a bit more and waffle a bit less
there is no "gas" pedal ? you must always rotate pedals? you can't just press button to ride with only motor?
I have Eltreco XT-700 and it have "gas" pedal. Am I understand right that in this bike there is no such pedal?
Correct, eBikes in the EU are only allowed to "assist" meaning they may only provide power when pedaling.
I wanna ask you about the max speed ??
Can't decide myself between acid pro 500 and reaction pro 500.. First one has more autonomy, latter has most nm which seems more appealing.. any tips guys?
how does it pedal with the motor off?
like an normale bike, it just hase more weight.
Will a bigger Bosch Battery fit?
Yes . The 2020 models come with a 625 watt bosch battery as an option . it is in tube form and can be replaced with a four or five hundred watt battery if you want an extra battery or just want to save some money.
Whats the motor life span ?
You never said what the weight of the bike is?
Yo this the guy from bright insights though
You going to put the helmet back on the shelf dodgy ha ha
Pedal pushers? 😆
Well, last week i`ve bought the Cube Reaction Hybrid 500 29" 2020. I use it for average XC and after 200KM im very happy with this one. I must say that i`m a noob in MTB and my budget was something like this or a little bit higher. But now i`m starting reading in some forums about the components on these bike. And it`s really sad that they write about that it`s shitty. The brakes are crap and the fork is bullshit and so on and so on. Well, that`s not nice....to know i`ve spent a lot of money (for me) for it and it`s not worth it. :-(
Neo2906 if you’re happy with it the. What’s the problem? Don’t get worrying about people bashing lower group sets and components unless you’re doing some really hard riding or trying to save weight(pointless on an ebike) don’t worry about it.
Neo 2906 - Cube is a german company . their factory in germany where all R&D and assembly takes place . For the price , these bikes cannot be touched in Europe . Even pro riders say it is the best value in europe . Those people that trashed the bikes are idiot trolls. nothing they are saying is true .
Looks a lot like a Bulls Bike also from Germany.
How is this a crosscountry and not MTB?
wearing loose helmet and wearing one is the same except more pretentious..
Save your money there a joke for the price
