Thanks for reminding me about the O2 heater wires! it was driving me nuts why the fuel trims kept going to -30.
No problem man. Yeah, It took me a while of tracing the wiring diagrams to figure out what was going on there.. also there might be more to it that. I have to get the truck up and running again to be sure. But I don’t think the system was going into open loop when I was driving it.
Thanks for the video!!! I'm at the wiring part with my swap!
Glad I could help, good luck! 😄. Let me know how it gos.
I'm doing this swap now. Only thing how did you know where to cut the motor mounts a little more with that would be a Great video keep going man ur doing great
Don't stop brother keep on keeping on
I just figured out cutting on the fly, I used the oil pan as a guide to get it close. Your only should have to worry about that if you're doing a ZR2. Thanks that means alot!
Thank you for the information. I want to build an S10 like that myself. Do you have any more videos of it running and driving
Hopefully it helps.. Keep an eye on the channel i'll have more coming out!

I put the l31 5.7 vortec in my 96 jimmy 2dr my spider injection leaked onto my headers when finally fired it up caught on fire i switched it to carberator afterwards subbed and following this build how is it as far as power hows u think it runs ? Thanks for the content
Thanks, that sounds crazy! Well, with the modded 5.7 I was hoping for somewhere around 300s I’ll end up sharing more of my build as I get into it but with added cubic inches more stroke and more camshaft and compression. Hopefully it should be in the high 3s. It’s kind of hard to estimate because my headers are a little on the small side and also that injection intake is probably not the most free flowing either.
Thanks for posting these videos. Quick question can I use a cpu from a express van and wiring harness w swap . Also do I send ecm out to be programed or does it have to be connected to car
You definitely can use the express van pcm, and leave it with the stock tune on it… but you’re probably going to have to send it out for VATS removal anyhow. At that point it would be about the same amount of money to use any 0411 pcm and have it custom tune for what you’re working on. I went through( pcm for less ). You just send the computer itself in the mail.
So I have a 96 with the same swap but I went with a carb set up. Do I need a pcm still? I’m assuming no because there is no need for fuel management
Well, if you’re still on the stock 4l60 trans you’re going to need some kind of computer to control it. And then there’s also the ignition unless you convert to an older style distributor. There’s a few other odds and ends, but you can definitely do away with all that stuff if you really want.
I got an 01 originally 4cyl is there anyway to get the gauge cluster to work with a 400sbc?
depends on a lot of things what intake system you’re using, what trans and your need a 0411 pcm if you don’t already have one being an 2001. If you’re doing something like a carburetor, you should be able to get some of it working. speedometer and tach are up in the air depending tho.
@@nicholsperformance92 ok I appreciate it, I’m using old school carbed sbc and th350 trans.
There is a ton of support for the “LS” design, not so much for SBC.
In the drag racing world SBC and especially BBC is king but LS is hot right now… But,, these are mostly aftermarket blocks such as DART… in stock form, yes LS is definitely superior. I plan on doing some stock block LS stuff in the future so I’m definitely not against them.
@@nicholsperformance92 the simple harness swaps, headers, etc…. Are all catered to LS. Hardly anyone out there supporting the SBC swap guys
Why cant you use the V8 harness?
Your talking a LOT of splicing and rewire work, the V8 computer is also on the other side of the engine bay.. compared to just making some simple mods to the stock harness. That's going to be much easier in most cases.
Does half of us no good. No fuel injection have a carb.
Most of the ppl ripping off all the Compter stuff and going carb with somting like a 700R4 Arnt worried about the stock gages working. Its kind of keep it all or lose it thing
@@nicholsperformance92 Just for the hell of it how about a 5 speed and all that serpentine stuff is also gone. Doing V-belts. I just cant ditch all the wires I am stupid when it comes to electric home and auto. I can't even figure out how to use a simple ohm meter to trace wires. I can build ya a house with my eyes closed but stupid on electric.
So I’m assuming this is to make it work like factory, but couldn’t you also just get a stand alone system from painless or one of the other companies?
Yeah this is the clean street (stock functioning) way, if you’re just building a race car or something then you could use one of the standalone systems or carburetor set up.
What is needed for a carbed version as far as wiring goes? At at that point real soon
