    If, in a later update, a means to walk the branches of Yggdrasil were to be found in the Ashlands to the south, it could be a fun way to be used to travel to other worlds.

    And that massive branch is above all of us IRL. Kinda crazy what explanation the old norse came up for the arm of the Milky Way on the night sky... pretty sweet.
    Wonder if the actual endgame will be reconnecting Valheim to the branch and thus getting into Valhalla

    Awesome video, definitely enjoyed the lore behind the tree. I sure hope that some years down the line the Devs decide there is a way to repair the severed connection to the root system, so many possibilities for expansion to a game we all love!

    I believe in the future of the game, we will have 9 biomes as states by the "9 other worlds" in the lore text. the 6 currently in the game, then the 3 remaining would be the southern ashlands, the great north, and finally the yggdrasil tree in the sky.

    i feel like the tree might have a purpoose at some point. It does to an extent with the ancient root sap in the mistlands that looks like the tree, but i feel like the tree in the sky will be some sort of end game thing, because there would be no real reason for them to put that sort of texture on the tree to begin with.

    would be pretty sick if after the deep north get location to enter Yggdrasil tree as endgame and fight odin or another foe
    and i can tell you right now the edge of the map is not do to development a lot of game engines will generate a blank land so i bet it was just randomly generated outside the edge of the world

  • @mattman3122
    @mattman3122 Před rokem +1

    The tree should be where you fight odin to gain access to your freedom.
    Since valheim is a test by odin to prove your worth. It should be the final boss stage. And when you beat odin it shows you entering back into midgard or something

      Well he isn't technically part of the Æsir, I'm pretty sure he lives in Asgard.
      If not he probably lives in Jötunheimr since he's a Jötunn.

    • @Niobesnuppa
      @Niobesnuppa Před 10 měsíci

      Late reply, but Norse mythology enthusiast here. Loki lives in Åsgard alongside the other gods. While he is a jotun, he also became blood brothers with Odin when they were young (basically a ritual where you cut your hands and then clasp them together to mix blood and therefore become "brothers"), so he is considered one of the Æsir. At the end of the stories of Norse mythology, but before Ragnarok, so I guess present day, Loki is bound and chained beneath a serpent that constantly drips poison into his eyes, as punishment for his murder of the god Balder. His wife stands with him, holding a bowl to catch the poison, but every once in a while she would have to empty the bowl, and Loki would writhe so much in pain that the entire world shook, and that was the Norse explanation for earthquakes. The prophecy of Ragnarok says he'll be free someday, and he'll start Ragnarok by freeing the Fenrir wolf. It's a bit unclear where he's chained up, but I think it's supposed to be in Åsgard.

    mechanics- wise the world of the game is limited in space, the devs of this game have same problems as any other games, the constraints of the map, some games have invisible barriers, some games simply kill the player stopping the expedition, some games have some immersive ways of killing players like fatigue (damage over time at the edge of map so u cant continue), invincible creatures killing you with cutscenes etc. the zone over THE EDGE wasnt planned by devs, it's a leftover, it's never planned and it was never planned in any game ever and ppl making these game are trying as long as game history to have no edge or at least blend it. the fact that it has texture and a name, it might be default or placeholder, it is not even remotely a planned area it's a vestigial inherited constraint problem that all computer generated worlds have. the only way to make it nicer is to get it immersed in the world, old 2d snes games fiddles with this cuz it's easy in 2d space, but basically in valheim (since it's round and can offer the illusion already) they could make THE EDGE be non existent by making the world round where THE EDGE is actually the start of the same map in another location, the only constraint being up which players never get anyway cuz it's iron age. remember that in valheim instances (crypts and whatnot) are placed in the skies so when u enter a crypt u actually are teleported in the skies, that also wasnt planned, it's the leftover space. dont look for magic where there is none.
