  • In this video, Leah delves into the specifics of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and their connection to VA disability. She starts by explaining the anatomy of the knee using a model to pinpoint the location and role of the ACL, detailing how such injuries can lead to knee instability. Leah further discusses how veterans can acquire ACL injuries either directly during active duty through activities such as jumps or sports or indirectly as a secondary consequence of other knee conditions. She underscores the importance of understanding the medical literature and encourages consulting with healthcare providers to support claims related to knee injuries stemming from service. Highlighting the commonality of ACL injuries, their diagnosis, and the potential long-term complications of untreated injuries, Leah advises veterans on the claims filing process and the utility of finding accredited support through va.gov.

    Top of the day to you🫡 Do you think flat feet/pronation/inserts in boots and a previous meniscus tear or strain could lead to an ACL tear later on? I am asking because I completely tore my ACL in 2000, after ETS in 98. The same leg had a reconstruction on the ankle for subluxation on the paraneal tendon in 96 after Air Assault school and multiple injuries/sprains while on active duty. I would appreciate any advise or information you have. Thank you for all that you do for us Vets and keep up the informative content💯

    I had torn ligaments in both knees prior to entering the Navy and was noted in my Military Medical records. Following Active Duty I suffered torn quadriceps tendons in both knees, could there a Nexus between the two events?
    Thanks
    Al
    PS During Active Duty I was a Helicopter Pilot, and required a lot climbing to pre Flight. Also did a 2 year tour as A Launch and Recovery Officer on an Aircraft Carrier, required a lot bending and squatting, a lot of stress on knees.

      That is tough to say sir. If the ligaments were torn prior to service that would potentially point to a nonservice related issue

    So I already had a service connection for patellofemoral pain on my left knee and I was doing some light activity shooting basketball and I ended up falling on my knee and tore my patellar tendon ACL, PCL, and MCL. I had surgery on my patellar tendon which they repaired but they didn't repair my ligaments. So those ligaments are still torn and my knee buckles when walking at times. I made a claim for those injuries secondary to my patellofemoral knee pain in my left knee. They denied my service connection with the torn ligament and they just clumped the torn Patella tendon with the claim I already had with the patellofemoral pain which I don't understand why because the tendon tear is completely different from the patellofemoral pain which I had for years and I jus tore my tendon and ligaments last year. So I'm wondering in your opinion what I should do?

    ACL reconstruction on right knee while in the Army. Now have arthritis and pain in knee. Do you think I have a case?

    I currently have an ACL reconstruction and when I got out about a decade ago, they rated it at 0%, but now I am having more problems with the knee - should I seek treatment or just an evaluation if I want to get my disability claim re-evaluated by the VA?

      @Johnnyclip Před 4 měsíci

      @prestigeveteranmedical fired VSO over a year ago after he didn't file correctly. Got 50% on my own. now waiting for HLR for three secondary conditions, hoping to get to 70% so I can get TDIU .if not I have other secondary conditions that I can file if I don't get TDIU. I Was awarded SSDI Several months ago

      @prestigeveteranmedical might need you soon for nexus and DBQ, depending on my HLR. I had an at least likely than not on all three secondary conditions nine months ago with QTC and the the Va had me take another c&p with ves and they said less likely than not
