Thanks for sharing this technique! It’s a slamdunk. Kingsnorth is the king of conformity with his different solutions. I went back and found the video you did about photopea. Making svg with Adobe is a pita. Also, Chipp Walters has a free slice tool if you have a complex ngon and need more geo. Similar to HOps dice. Also, there’s a million fonts out there from skulls to snowmen that you can convert to mesh. Great video! It’s a quick way to get something satisfying

The vanilla alternative is the bind modifier. It is not nearly as convenient and care free, but it's better than shrink-wrap in this case.
Yeah, I imagine somewhere int ne background this is using the mind tool in some way using the source plane but I'm not sure 🤔

I did not know that! That's a great tip! Thanks so much. Does it go to perfect squares (2 axes) or perfect cubes (3 axes)?
perfect squares, so you still need to add the cuts on the other axis so not creating perfect cubes but it is easier@@ArtisansofVaul

Very cool. Could you use remesh to dice up the wing-like logo? I haven't needed to do such as I don't do artistic things (yet) for 3d printing, so I'm not sure how sculpting tools interact with non-sculpts?
It would affect how sharp the edges would be so I'd probably not if I had the option.

@callumharper3281 [f you extract a section that's square and do it to that it works really well. I normally just copy the faces and then remove them after.
is it possible to lower the tri count below 10k with this method or do you have to use other ways of making a banner
You can lower it as much as you want but as with all objects that are more organic/rounded the lower the amount of quads the more faceted the end result. As I use this for 3D printing I need everything to be smooth, which is why I put up the amount of topology so much.

Can this work on a triangle banner ?
So it needs to work on a "rectangle" but if you can make a rectangle within the triangular flag that would work fine. And it doesn't have to be a perfect rectangle, just something with 4 sides.

@mactac Making a rectangular shape definetly does if you do it right, I've done it a number of times. I'll be making a video on that soon (as well as some other bits) so I can show my technique.
