    Us 70’s rockers were so happy when this album dropped after a decade of big hair rock. Not saying anything bad about those bands, but it was nice to see classic blues rock band back. And the album was 🔥.

    Such a perfect rock cover, the Black Crowes knew how to make something sound cool and catchy, that's for sure!!! It was indeed a hit and got a lot of airplay time on MTV back in those good old days...

    My three cousins went to Walton High School with the Brothers Robinson (lead singer Chris and guitarist Rick); Shake Your Money Maker dropped when they were barely graduated. It’s hard to explain just how huge they were here in Atlanta. They were EVERYWHERE.
    Thanks for reacting!

    The black crows always reminded me of The Rolling Stones. Just great iconic rock with a blues soul.

      Exactly!! Shake Your Moneymaker, Sticky Fingers, Let It Bleed - all have a similar vibe ❤️❤️👍💐

      Interesting thought. I think I can kind of agree thinking on it. A band in the same vein. Just real rock with a magnetic frontman and good music that is solid. I know it's only rock n roll but, I like it.

    I knew you'd get into #HardtoHandle right away. I did not know it was a cover, but it makes sense with the classic R&B and Otis Redding no less!

    Great version. I've loved the Black Crowes since the first time I heard them. But, if you want to go to the origin of everything. You have to listen to the Faces. With Ron Wood and Rod Stewart rocking the hell out.

    Sounds like it’s right out of the 70’s, doesn’t it? This is the sound that Jimmy Page loved……His collab with them in the late 90’s was short but very cool. Once you’ve listened to a few more Crowe songs, you should watch a live performance. Lots on CZcams.

  • @The_Maeus

    Now do the original version (or, really, anything by Otis Redding).

    OMG! I love the Black Crowes. I remember in the early 90s when they came out and I bought the CD. I loved it. They were so awesome.
    But, no one in Rockford, IL at the time knew who they were and were not interested. I knew they were going to kick it and make it big. They were soooo good. Years later I hear people playing things like She Talks to Angels and Remedy and I'm like - I told you 30 years ago.

    I highly recommend Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long", "These Arms Of Mine" & "I've Got Dreams To Remember", all R&B classics, all fire.

    Now you have to listen to Otis Redding's song. 😁 And 'Sitting On the Dock of the Bay'. Probably the song he's most famous for.

      When it first came out I immediately bought it. The Black Crowes were a fantastic band and I wanted the cd. An amazing band. No wonder Jimmy Page opted to work with them.

    I'm a huge Delaney and Bonnie fan and The Black Crowes do a great live Delaney and Bonnie medley. Definitely worth checking out. There are a few live performances but the Official Delaney and Bonnie medley is the one to hear!

    They're the only band I could possibly imagine could pull this song off, mainly due to Chris Robinson's charisma. He's quite the character. I got to see them on this tour, it was amazing. But you really need to hit "She Talks To Angels". Sort of their signature song. It's been covered a lot, but you can't replicate that heart and soul. It's very dear to a lot of hearts. And there's "Seeing Things". And "Twice As Hard". And "Sister Luck". Basically the whole "Shake Your Moneymaker" album lol

    • @DianeLake-sw3ym
      @DianeLake-sw3ym Před 7 měsíci +1

      I feel like the song She Talks to Angels is like Stairway with Zeppelin. No one can really cover it to my satisfaction.
      She Talks to Angels is owned by Chris. He does such a fantastic job and the band along with him makes it a song only they can do justice to. Just like Stairway. People either do it too dramatic or over the top and don't understand the song itself. It's like a fantasy with talking animals and the friendly forest. And yet, a purely magical song.
      Some songs just cannot be covered

    • @PriestessOfNothing
      @PriestessOfNothing Před 7 měsíci

      @DianeLake-sw3ym "Lightning Crashes" is another song like that. The covers are just awful, people just shouldn't even go there with certain songs lol

      @The_Maeus Před 8 měsíci

      Oh, I didn’t know there was a remix of the Crowes’ version. Yeah, I can believe that it’s inferior to their “original” version - but the true original version by Otis (which, of course, has horns) is the best.

    Loved the black crowes back in the day. Wasn't that impressed when I saw them live. Too much jamming and straying away from the album versions. Saw them at Manchester apollo, UK and for various reasons it was possibly the worst gig I've been to. Not all their fault.
    Fast forward x-amount of years and you really must get up to date with times and react to a band called Blackberry Smoke. Similar tunes but with a modern country vibe. Excellent stuff
