- Spent the evening at the fair with some friends. I wanted to test the low light limits of the FS5 paired with the Atomos Shogun Inferno. I also had a chance to test out my new Rangefinder from SLR magic. Works wonderful although it introduced some slight vignetting with a 50mm taking lens. Overall, I was very pleased with the outcome considering we used all the natural light. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Great video! But I see no a single noise on the video and every time I shot on my atomos with the fs5 there is a lot of noise, even in like 2000 iso! Which set up in the atomos did you use ?
Was this slog 2 with Cine gamma?
Oh and these shots were excellent!! So cinematic , i would have throught it was a Hollywood feature.
You just proved we can shoot a cinematic feature on our FS5s.
A video on the drawbacks of the SLR Magic would be great.
I’m planning on testing their full lenses instead of the adapter style you used. Which should eliminate the double focus workload.

I am currently shooting on the same setup and I just purchased the SLR 1:33 without the range finder (has not arrived yet). Would you mind discribing why you chose to use the range finder? And or suggesting a resource that could help prepare me to better use the Anamphot? As the range finder effectively doubles the price just wondering the ROI before I purchase.
I see you're using the Canon 50mm 2.5 Macro. Why did you select this as your taking lens? And would other taking lens would you suggest?

This was all handheld. No stabilization used.

I used adobe premiere. I conformed the footage to 1.33x anamorphic.

hmm, the blacks behave weird, the quality of them is not so good I guess, or maybe it's the youtube compression. I have dell XPS 15 with the 4K display wich is a really good quality one with great coverage of colours but it's very sensitive on those black issues.. though the video like all the others is amazing :)
For the most part it looks ugly if you watch it in full screen. So much color noise and broken image with the flickering blocks.
The FS5 is too low resolution to be capable of producing anamorphic. That's the reason why this video is not sharp. When you alter the aspect ratio during de-squeeze, you need to downsample or the image will become blurry. If you perform a 1:1 redistribution of pixels, the image quality will suffer severely. The only way to do this is with something like the 6K anamorphic mode of GH5 or GH5S, where you capture 6K to begin with. That's why there's almost no examples of Sony for anamorphic, because 4K resolution is too low. That's why the ratio of anamorphic videos on CZcams is 30 to 1 for Panasonic vs Sony.
