What was this feud? HBK working for JBL? I personally don't mind the whole thing but it seemed kind of dumb. Nonetheless, those two played their roles to perfection. It made for a worthwhile program until HBK/Taker. What did you think of this feud/story?
Can u make a video about smackdown from mid 2002 - early 2004 please? I grow up wit this and made me fell in love wit wrestling
It was awesome
The feud was...interesting
I love this type of rivalries
WrestlingsPremier 🤷🤷🤷Yeah even I don’t know why and how the fuck this entire program even happened in the first place. I mean yes these two did play their roles to perfection and did make it a worthwhile program but I don’t know what else to add to my claim here.🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
This inspired svr 2010 road to wrestlemania
They both take place during the Road To Wrestlemania 25, so both probably were written during the same time.
@@darnayblue3081 But they are slightly diffrent
Wyatt Forseth Yeah, WWE Creative normally influenced the direction of the in-game storylines. After they were written, THQ had to get them verified by WWE, and WWE would give input and offer various changes to either portray Superstars more realistically or to make the story fit with current on tv programming.
@@darnayblue3081 Yeah thq made the orton and cena storyline interesting
It actually didn't... a former THQ employee said in the comment section of a "10 things you didn't know about Road to Wrestlemania video" that they wrote Shawn's story for the mode before the angle started. And that the game didn't influence the actual story either. They just coincidentally happened around the same time
Kinda a great storyline for one of Shawn Michaels last years.
Interesting to say the least. I remember watching as a kid and thinking when JBL said tune up match that he was talking about tuna. 😂😂
Back with another childhood memories🐐
This may be unpopular, but JBL could’ve become world champion. Yea his workrate wasn’t the best, but it doesn’t matter with all that charisma
I find it weird how he never won it a second time tbh. With all the guys they were handing the titles to. How didn't he hold it once again?
Hmmm at least he won the IC Title and became Grand Slam Champion during his second run because that's the only title that he hasn't won at the time.
He pissed off people for sure, but the caliber of faces he went through between Eddie & Cena wasn't exactly inspiring during his nearly 1-year reign, plus HHH didn't want to work Tuesdays.
@@rlouie05 HHH didn’t want the non cable watchers to suffer through his 20 minute promos
I mean... JBL is a world champion. The WWE Championship still counts as a world title. But I get what you mean.
For those of you that used to watch Raw back then in the US(2008-2009). Do you guys remember a channel that broadcasted the show on Sunday afternoon in Spanish? I randomly found the channel as a kid and I used to watch and not understand a single thing but since it was WWE, I was all in.
Yesss I did lmaoooo I never understood
Yeah man !!! They used to even show it on Wednesdays. Those replays went on for few years believe it or not
Lol it made zero sense to me
The channel still broadcasts it 😂
The channel was called mun2 I think lol. I might be wrong however. I do remember not being able to finish Raw due to school, luckily on Sundays I watched Raw. Ahh the memories.
I'd say it was forgettable, this is HBK's last feud before his legendary WM feud with Undertaker and this is JBL's last feud before facing Rey Mysterio.
The strangest part of this feud:
It came right before the classic first WM match between Taker and HBK.
Random Thought: Remember A.M RAW where they showed it Saturday/Sunday night at 2AM?
On Mun dos right?
Yep came on USA
A.M Raw and they'll take lil parts out
I loved that. After going out that night and getting some, i would come back home buzzed eat se tasty food and ratch am raw...if i recall it was the highlights..loved it
I forgot about this feud tbh
I absolutely hated this storyline but looking back it's better than alot of what they do now
To be frant there no storylines anymore
I WAS LITERALLY GETTING READY TO SUGGEST THIS AND LOW AND BEHOLD 😭😭 I CANT GET ENOUGH OF THIS CHANNEL
As a storyline rooted in the harsh reality of the recession, it was a great move o use Shawn as an avatar for the Everyman and JBL as the guy to help Shawn. I dug it, it's one of the less crass and overblown WWE "reality" storylines like saw Slaughter being pro Iraq.
I genuinely get excited when I get the bell notification from ur channel
Glad you do. I really appreciate the fact that yo enjoy the videos!
Man I was just watching episodes of Raw from 08 on the network. Damn the nostalgia is in abundance!! 💔
I love this feud
this has always been an interesting storyline to me. great video. i would love to see the story of The Authority soon.
In hindsight this story is better because it basically wrapped up the career of HBK. He was paying for his past life and got that stability he was looking for because he was worried about how he would be when he’s done in the ring. After this is over he moves onto Undertaker, the man who retired him in 98. Instead of going out on an injury, he went out after putting on the greatest wm match ever.
Thank you for this!!
What’s really bad is that I remember this feud actually happening and hating JBL’s guts but looking back now, I almost forgot this feud happened. But regardless I enjoyed this video, please keep making some 08 content
Okay this is cool I’m here before the comments section gets disabled
It won't.
WrestlingsPremier did not suspect you to answer
Great Vid and Video idea Undertaker vs Bret hit man heart summerslam build up
Another good video from you. Keep it up!
Thanks for uploading this video it was great 👍
Shawn Michaels vs JBL feud was good and was kind of weird.
Thanks for this upload. I completely forgot about how this feud started. Nonetheless, it was a decent feud. After this JBL became Intercontinental Champion, also forgettable
That retribution burn at the beginning got me💔😹😹
i remember this hbk gone broke gimmick lol weird crazy cool ending
Underrated storyline
I loved this storyline lol
*after this the wwe went to shit*
i honestly do not remember this feud wtf lol thanks for the video tho & the reminder that this happened.
It always great to WrestlingsPremier. Also, you should cover Shane McMahon's Fued with Kane in 2003 sometime
Yea it’s when he coverd Kane’s unmasked run
I never knew about this feud , I was moving back to France and there's much less wrestling broadcasted compared to the UK. I missed all the shows from that era.
I give you some suggestions. Vengeance 2003, No Mercy 2003, Undertaker's road to wrestlemania 23, Rey Mysterio's journey to wrestlemania 22, Austin's road to WM 14, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit's journey to win their first world titles, Smackdown six. I think you should make videos on these videos.
This also a storyline in road to WrestleMania svr 2010 which was a great one in my opinion
When I was a kid, I actually thought he was broke. Looking back, makes no sense but it was a good storyline
Maaaan as a kid I hated this feud. Seeing shawn lose over and over was crazy
What’s good bro
That Rey mysterio and Mike Knox feud😂
I don't even remember that feud lol
DAMN!
Wrestlingspremier can you do Vader's fail run in wwf 1996-1998?
6:34 wrestlingspremier you should of said he was getting that money money yeah yeah
It was in there initially but I edited it out.
They used HBK for this story with JBL because the blow off was the tournament Finals where the winner would face Taker at Mania XXV. It was a crappy way to get to that match.
This was a rough time to be a HBK fan
It was a great fued jbl and Shawn Michaels JBL helps HBK with money HBK helps JBL Main event WrestleMania Love it
It was good
I forgot about this I think I was too busy trying to start lives and our careers with my ex, and then the great recession hit so I had to drop out of college because the program at U of I she was going to work for got cut and I had to work 50 hours a week to pay a mortgage. There are worse people to be indentured servants than JBL
Facts
It was a *great* feud.
Only cause it was a JBL world title feud.
How was the feud rushed? Imo it was long enough, started in November/December and ended in February. Nice feud before WM
Why does today’s crowd think 3 months is a long enough lol. I was use to 5-9 shiz.
It was rushed cause of other engagements. This feud was suppose to go into Wrestlemania 25. With HBK winning and JBL retiring after the match. But, the nixed plans on takers end. Made wwe go in a different direction. Causing this one to end early.
@@huffy6192 5 month feuds could be boring example sheamus vs del rio
When will you upload some bonus content?
I think pretty soon. Something like Simon Dean, Boogeyman, etc.
I couldn't buy this feud. Shawn Michaels going broke? As if Vince would let that happen lol
I agree with you!
I never really cared for this tbh and it was JBLs last storyline and HBKs storyline to fill his time until wrestlemania
Well just around this time the economy went into a massive massive global recession, and they cashed in on it basically.
Oddly enough, I don’t remember this at all.
I didn't either lol and it's mainly because this feud took place before HBK's amazing WM feud with Undertaker that lasted two WM's.
While well performed by both JBL & HBK the angle made no sense. I get using the economy but why not using Shawn's drug history. This story could've been much more logical if Flair was in Shawn's position and either Shawn or HHH fought on Flair's behalf. This could've been a nice use of reality due to Flair's history with: drugs, women, alcohol, and marriages
They should've chosen The Rock instead of Shawn Michaels. 😂😂
Was it believable? Absolutely not, but neither is the Undertaker’s powers but I still like them. I think it was different and interesting and lasted the correct amount of time and they handled it well.
Before I watch, yes. The answer is yes. As a kid I was 100000% tuned in and completely hated JBL for his abuse of power. Especially when HBK decided to stand his ground and took like 4 Clothesline from Hells
I do remember this feud, but I didn't like it though. It wasn't one of my favorites at the time.
All I can think ab is SvR 2010
This storyline might have worked if they'd had a wrestler with real life money problems feud with JBL and worked that into the storyline. If Ric Flair hadn't left WWE for TNA they could have done it with him because he's thrown money away for years trying to live his "Nature Boy" gimmick.
Flair was still with the wwe, and they used HBK. Cause, the feud was suppose to end at Wrestlemania. Both the current and the former home state of HBK and JBL. Where JBL was already planning on retiring after that.
I always wanted these 2 to wrestle but they could’ve had a better storyline.
I think we were so spoiled by the Attitude era that we forget that a simple program can hold it’s own. We don’t need scandals, over the top carnage, or guys feeding a Man’s Dog to him. Personally, it was good enough to keep most people’s interest. JBL is so naturally unlikeable, and Michaels was having a good 2nd run. Michaels was easy to sympathize with, and most of us were content to see something extremely believable for a change. Not “The Boyhood Dream” level, but not entirely lame either!
I remember not liking this at allllll
a bit of a strange feud. I don't really like these types of storylines, kinda when Cena was "part of the Nexus"
It's not a weird storyline for jbl to go broke. Look at mc. Hammer🤔
Hi
First!
Ric Flair went broke.. so yea this storyline is legit
Jbl should had won
I hated this feud. HBK has always been my favorite and i hated JBL for making HBK hi's employee....
Second
Hbk was a greater wrestler than jbl.
U said u hate JBL but at least he was a decent actor. Corbin is the worst actor ever in the business
The world was going through a financial crisis at the time & WWE wanted to give some sympathy to a departing HBK it seems, plus build up a final heel run for Bradshaw.
It still felt pretty tasteless at times though.
HBK didn’t depart until a year later
@@theitfactorjameswheezer2852 Guess this angle ended in part because fans weren't buying it, it being tasteless and illogical when your best buddy practically owns the company, and that the right way to end was to have a memorable run without a real need for a sympathy storyline.
On top of that, not everyone truly "leaves", as HBK was still involving himself in storylines after his retirement, but after 2012, he definitely only kept appearing on special occasions only before that Saudi Arabia payday.
