Julian naturally has a similar voice as his dad’s, but I think he deliberately tried to put his own spin on the song so as to not be an exact copy of John’s voice. Julian is an exceptional person whom I truly admire.

Fil asks, "HOW is [a child's] voice SO similar [to their parent]?"
I was once watching an episode of Midsomer Murders and was troubled by the thought that I recognised an actress from somewhere but could not recall where. After a while the name Annette Crosbie popped into my head which satisfied me enough to let go of that thought until the end of the episode when I would check for her name in the credits. When I saw the actress's name, Selena Griffiths, I did not recall having ever seen it before so I looked up that name on Wikipedia and discovered that Annette Crosbie is her mother! She doesn't look anything like her mother; she has dark hair, is taller and more solidly built, and obviously much younger. It was just the similarity between their voices which was enough to trigger the recall of a name.

Irreplaceable, ....BEAUTIFUL BEATLES. Julian sounds like his father's voice. Perhaps not entirely perfectly, yet very similar, father and son. Julian is talented and his voice, not doubt, like his father, John, just lovely, sweet,, and emotional to me. Julian has lived through certain trauma, IMHO JULIAN ( AS he has proven) to have an angelic, strong, gifted & talented voice. Thanks so much Fil for this happy journey. . APPRECIATE YOUR time. I remember my friend recorded a track with a program that develops harmonies for you. And, he and I said it would be interesting if you sang those instead. So, we got the genius idea of using the corrected tracks as reference tracks. And, that's how I would encourage corrective tech to be used. It allows you to be accurate without losing a natural sound

I first became aware of Julian Lennon when he released the single "Stick Around" in 1986. You could clearly hear the connection to his father, but he still had his own style. I have not seen or heard of Julian since in his mid 20s or early 30s. He was tired of people trying to compare him to his father. Sing like his father or songs of his father. I had never wish for him to be a son trying to be his father and neither did he. Julian when I heard him had a great voice of his own. This has happen to other children with famous parents who were singers. Let the children play reading and hearing of people. I apply the same, Let the children sing, not wanting to be like their parents. Thanks, Fil, for this and the person/s that ask for this. I had wish Julian could just be let along and be his own super star singer should that what he wanted.

    Thanks for this, Fil.
Another very interesting, and intelligent analysis.
But not sure I would agree that Julian did not (maybe at one point, when he was younger) deliberately decide to sing nasally, like his Dad.
If you listen to The Beatles' Decca audition tapes, you can hear that John himself does not sound quite like he did a little later - he had not settled on his style, and the John Lennon voice is not quite what we would all now recognise.
So, I think there is a mixture of physiology and stylistic choices going on with both of them; and those stylistic choices eventually became automatic and ingrained.
Curious about what software you are using (love that you can filter out / split parts on the fly, and this would be useful for me).

I always thought the Beatles kids would have it easy in the music industry, but they are all pretty low key. I guess when you're the kids of such an iconic band, it's not as easy as one would think .Another interesting comparison would be George & Dhani's voice.. I've seen Zak play with The Who many times.
