He's very gracious for an almost 60 year old man who has to spend the majority of an interview talking about his dad who has been gone for over 40 years.
This interview most likely would have never happened if Julian's dad was not John Lennon so it's his cross to bear and it seems like he handles it well.

What's crazy is that Julian is 59 going on 60, his father died at 40. So Julian has already lived 1.5 times longer than his father has, a full 20 years and counting.

Kevin is so focused on plowing ahead with the hike and interview that he doesn’t realize Julian’s getting pelted with branches and squeezed behind by thickets. 😂
He does that to everyone. It's always nice when people catch on and start holding there own with him and Kevin gets branches to the face. lol Paul Rudd I think.

@@r.p.mcmurphy6623 But, so is art. In case you've forgotten or didn't know, both his parents were visual artists - in his dad's case, as one of multiple creative outlets. And, of course, John and Cynthia met at art school in Liverpool.
Met Julian at Kennedy Airport years ago. A very nice guy and gentleman.
I feel for Julian and Sean when every interview they do becomes “so, your dad” they are very talented, interesting people in their own right
And the ridiculous, tiresome question about whether the sons would capitalize on their fathers recognition and form a band, all the while trying to be recognized for their own talent and work. Even the Beatles probably could not have been the next Beatles had they reunited. Jules got so fed up with the comparisons he left music to go into photography. Sean avoids comparisons by doing very experimental non-commercial work. The other sons and daughters too have their own things. Leave them all alone.
I feel for Julian not sean so much.

I'm impressed with Julian. He is so humble and down to earth. When I first heard his first hit song, I honestly thought it was John. Same voice and looks so much like him.
He's a great photographer. I actually think he was lucky not being raised with his famous rich dad. Everything he has accomplished has been on his own. He was cute when he was young, but wow, he has aged really well. Now he's just a really great looking guy.😊

Very down to earth guy indeed.
What a lovely guy. He seems very together for someone born into a life of constant scrutiny and expectation - it would be very difficult to be an artist with a parent that famous - the pressure to succeed would be insane. I got chills when he told the white feather story. I'd be willing to wager his Dad is very proud of him.

I think it helped that his father abandoned him at 5 years old.
And then left him $50k out a $220m estate.

I can’t imagine living with that burden of having an iconic father and constantly being asked the same tiresome questions and handling them with such grace. I’m glad Julian mentioned his mother being an artist. She gave him many of his gifts as well, one of the of best of which has been raising a lovely, grounded and insightful man.

Julian has released some excellent songs. Unfortunately most people have never heard most of them. There are many fine gems from him - if you take the time to delve into his discography.

This really captured the essence of Julian. These 15 minutes revealed more about his personality than from any "formal" interview.

Great interview. I do think Julian is sick of talking about the Beatles. He wanted to talk about his work. I guess it will haunt him the rest of his life. He seeems grounded and in a good place.

Interesting that Julian didn't care for the ending of the movie "Yesterday". I actually thought it was wonderful. It basically showed John L. got to live a long peaceful life in the "alt universe". I personally thought it was brilliant. Great movie btw. Great hike yet again Kevin!! Keep it up!!
I love Julian. I'm glad he's back songwriting and singing again. I didn't know he was a photographer. I'd love to see his work.
I remember there being a video online here about some of his photography work in a museum or show somewhere, and I know his beautiful mama Cynthia was also part of the video briefly and she mentioned being so happy her son was happy.
Julian seems to have his stuff together. Mind seems sharp for someone who has always been under scrutiny. Liked his recent Imagine performance.
I always thought that Julian got a bad rap from the press for being John's son, he really is a down to earth kind of guy, I'm glad you interviewed him.

I like how talkative Julian is. Kevin is just plowing ahead and occasionally throwing something out there and Julian runs with it. This was great. Two guys, that in my opinion, have been underrated or at least under appreciated.

i love how without hesitation Julian just said "my brother Sean" just an average person like the rest of us and i am impressed how Kevin just seemed to hike effortlessly at 70 years old and that makes me feel guilty , need to get off my tush

Glad they talked about how funny "Get Back" was. John, in particular, but the other three all had their moments. Watching John & Paul goof around was the greatest. And nothing about the way they joked around felt dated, either. It's like their humor felt very current. I challenge anyone to watch the very last scene of the doc, as the credits are rolling, while the band is attempting to film a video for "The Long And Winding Road", and not laugh. It's legitimately hysterical. Again, John, in particular.

One of my favorite interviews of Julian was done by his half-brother, Sean, who posted it on-line around this time last year. They've gotten closer over the years, and this interview demonstrates that in ways that will stir your heart. It was good to hear them discuss their childhood experiences, the roles that the other Beatles members played in their lives growing up, the death of their father, how they were affected by it and how they coped with it over the intervening years and how they dealt with the press treating them like they were their father's heir apparent in his absence. Do yourselves a favor and look it up -- the time spent listening will be well worth it!

A funny coincidence as someone who's been avidly catching up on "Hiking with Kevin" and just before opening CZcams and discovering this video, I was on Spotify randomly downloading Julian Lennon for the first time. I always feel sorry for him and Sean that no matter what great stuff they create in their lives, they'll always be in the shadow of their father, and always having to answer interview questions about John. And yet, that white feather story really gave me some goosebumps. Thanks Kevin for your hike series!

Interesting to hear Julian's take on the Yesterday scene of his father. It wasn't needed for the storyline, but I think it was needed by a lot of us to feel that John could have lived out a rewarding, contented life that he deserved in return for all that he'd given us.
This guy is amazing. I love him. We're the same age. He's an amazing underated singer songwriter but it was difficult for him having so famous a dad.

Have always appreciated Julian's works. He is a humble yet very talented human being. What I love about these treks of Kevin's is how the efforts of the trek break so many of the pretentious barriers of the interview process.

He seems pretty down to earth which is great to see..big fan of John what a legend . Used to be a Julian fan at one point in my 20s too. Nice interview & good to see him happy. My mum & dad met George Harrison once in the 90s on Hamilton Island here in Australia. He was very friendly & kind to them & they have a photo with him aswell .
