Grilled Meat Causes CANCER?? (Watch before you grill again) 2024

  • If we listened to the National Cancer Institute and the World Health Organization we would be convinced that something humans have been doing for a million years is now dangerous, that is grilling meat. Let's discuss the common-sense of this topic, and also the existing research.
You probably know by now that the news media is in business to sell advertisements, not to give you the exact truth about a subject. If they can scare you or freak you out, and make you watch more, then they will do that, even if the topic is not actually scary at all. Your job as an adult is to decide for yourself what is actually a threat, and what is silly.
Will grilling your meat cause cancer? I think not. But, don't take my word for it, watch the video and examine the information for yourself.
If we are going to tell humans not to cook meat over an open flame the we damned well better have some solid facts to back that up!

Makes you wander if certain high *sugar* marinades and rubs are the worst part of it. I read that burning (browning) sugar contributes to metabolic disorders more-so than just sugar which contribute to certain cancers. I dont use sugar marinades mostly because they burn too easy.

I don't believe he's right about this. His argument about doing what our ancestors did is just bad logic. There's plenty of things humans did throughout history that were once thought to be benign and we now know were not the best practice. I think more research needs to be done on this and until it's done I'm going to continue to cook my proteins at low temperature. I've taken to cooking steak in my new steam oven on high steam at 210F (100C). It takes 5min to cook and is super tasty and tender if you've marinated/salted it well.

    Hi Dr Berry
I'm an analytical chemist who used to run an independent testing laboratory. The trouble is that these days, the analytical techniques have become so sensitive that we can detect and measure levels of potentially harmful chemicals that would have been impossible to detect just a few years ago. I would be much more concerned with levels of glyphosates in all the plant foods that vegans eat.

hi dr berry, would you please make a video on the difference between men and women on keto? i saw several videos on how keto easily works for men but doesnt work for all women. some women got great results (it was also mentioned that women with certain problems like pcos etc benefit from keto but not for those with no health issues) whereas other women claims to have followed keto to the t but physically feel horrible and doesnt lose weight and even gain weight from it. they mentioned factors like hormones, how the female body is built differently and have different functions to men, and how a woman's body changes so frequently that our chemical and hormone levels can greatly differ during menstrual cycle and even at different times of the day. im just really curious if what they are saying has some truth to it that keto is not for everyone. i personally love it and want to share to family and friends but if there is a chance that this is true, i feel there is a need for understanding before recommendation. i hope this might be a topic for a near future video, thank you in advance dr berry! (:

I only use hard charcoal no briquettes, no lighter fluid. I always was skeptical about all those stories. Thanks for sharing Dr. Berry. I will enjoy grass fed steak for dinner tonight with a generous amount of green veggies. TFS

Myself and my dad, my brother. And on my mom's side my grandfather, both uncles, aunt, , all like Grilled meat with a bit of black char on it. Not only do we like it, we crave it. Our bodies, our stomachs, our digestion all feel great with it. My mom's side grandma and my mom is the only one of us who prefers half cooked meat.
The rest of us also get kinda sick from half cooked meats, but I've narrowed this down to it usually being from the meat being processed or another reason. I have eaten sushi and medium rare steaks from quality cuts and felt fine.
We heard about the charcoal broil being cancer causing and we all looked with extreme disbelief, no history of cancer in our ancestries. Combined with the fact that we feel great when eating the charbroiled meats made us discount that flash news.

Dr. Berry....can you do a video on ulcers and acidity Pretty Please? I have been hospitalized twice in the past 3 years for erosive esophagitis. It’s my understanding that when we have a situation like this that it means we don’t have enough acid in our stomach. But when I took apple cider vinegar, I ended up with erosions along m upper GI tract that required immediate medical attention (I’ll leave out the details here on CZcams). I refuse to take PPI’s but this has been a horrific experience for me....especially twice. I love and respect your videos and professional input....I’d appreciate some more information on this because when I search online, the info is conventional “wisdom” which I can’t subscribe to.....Please and thank you in advance....

Great video - Where are the studies on what we have done to change our food supply so our bodies can't properly use the food - like corn feed beef that is too high in omega 6 and not at all what our ancestors ate. I'll keep grilling my pasture raised grass fed beef and searing the fat and eating it all! Thank you for all the info you give us.

I've ate grilled meat since the age of 5 as dad grilled every Saturday and when I left home I did the same. Now almost 60 years later I've been grilling often at least twice a week and that includes during the winter. I've never had any signs of cancer and I don't get upset stomachs or anything of the sort. And I still do it the old way with good old fashioned charcoal (no gas grills or imitation charcoal here)

Your videos back up with data- good. Regarding cancer which just seems to continue to explode. What do you feel is actually causing this and why ?

Lisa Grace , CICO is pronounced "see coe". Coe rhymes with toe.
That being said, here's a joke that you'll *enjoy*:
Do you know what people, who advocate using "carbohydrates in carbohydrates out" to lose weight, are called?
      CICOpaths!

I remember when the whole acrylamide hysteria hit the news, where they were attributing cancer risk to cereals, fried foods and foods cooked at a high temperature. What they conveniently left out is that the risk of cancer from carbohydrate consumption is very real, and that is what makes up the majority of the foods they claim is a cancer risk, albeit for the wrong reasons. The carb content, which simply turns into sugar, would likely account for the vast majority of cancer cases.

200 years ago no one worried about food illnesses nor had food related illnesses. Now of days we do cause of gmo food and the way we grow and handle food. It's sucks I remember as a child I was told the future will be great and there is many wonderful things but food isn't real. So much malnutrition from fake food consumption that they need to also take supplements.
