Grilled Meat Causes CANCER?? (Watch before you grill again) 2024
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 29. 06. 2024
- If we listened to the National Cancer Institute and the World Health Organization we would be convinced that something humans have been doing for a million years is now dangerous, that is grilling meat. Let's discuss the common-sense of this topic, and also the existing research.
You probably know by now that the news media is in business to sell advertisements, not to give you the exact truth about a subject. If they can scare you or freak you out, and make you watch more, then they will do that, even if the topic is not actually scary at all. Your job as an adult is to decide for yourself what is actually a threat, and what is silly.
Will grilling your meat cause cancer? I think not. But, don't take my word for it, watch the video and examine the information for yourself.
If we are going to tell humans not to cook meat over an open flame the we damned well better have some solid facts to back that up!

Great video Doc Berry. Going to go give my Big Green Egg meat searing machine a hug. I always suspected the whole grilling/cancer thing was nonsense. It was great to hear it articulated.
Thank you so much for watching, and grilling, and sharing!
KenDBerryMD I need input Dr Berry. Concerning the carnivore diet, what about getting a fatty liver without the veggies to clean it and can we still use fats like olive oil and coconut (or fish oil and butter, keeping fats high)? Please respond and thank you.
Thanks Dr Berry. As for starting your grillin fire,I make a wick out of a paper towel twisted and soaked in olive oil. Build charcoal pyramid around it. Open all drafts. Light. Wick disintegrates. No hydrocarbons.
Makes you wander if certain high *sugar* marinades and rubs are the worst part of it. I read that burning (browning) sugar contributes to metabolic disorders more-so than just sugar which contribute to certain cancers. I dont use sugar marinades mostly because they burn too easy.
I don't believe he's right about this. His argument about doing what our ancestors did is just bad logic. There's plenty of things humans did throughout history that were once thought to be benign and we now know were not the best practice. I think more research needs to be done on this and until it's done I'm going to continue to cook my proteins at low temperature. I've taken to cooking steak in my new steam oven on high steam at 210F (100C). It takes 5min to cook and is super tasty and tender if you've marinated/salted it well.
I love grilled meat. I am tired of the fear-mongering and propaganda, meat is essential to good health.
Yes, but organ meats are > than muscle meat in terms of nutrition. People need to understand this.
Yes, just eat real food
@@tommycharles4666 I'm a big time meat eater, but gotta be careful and eat organ meats in moderation if at all due to the increased risk of gout
@@sempergumby2341 Yeah. A few grams as a supplement is plenty. Some people eat a lot more than that and are fine, though. So mileage may vary. I think a key point is to never eat carnivore liver. Stick to herbivore.
@@tommycharles4666 what
Usually when a news article states "a study suggests" then 99% of the time it's completely BS.
No shit. Propaganda masquerading as science in most cases.
Ya ... Suggest is key word...
It's actually coming from science, but bad science _(epidemiological bs),_ that is.

Hi Dr Berry
I'm an analytical chemist who used to run an independent testing laboratory. The trouble is that these days, the analytical techniques have become so sensitive that we can detect and measure levels of potentially harmful chemicals that would have been impossible to detect just a few years ago. I would be much more concerned with levels of glyphosates in all the plant foods that vegans eat.
So we should be concerned with levels of substances that until recently were undetectable? these previously undetectable substances are known to be dangerous, although not at these minuscule levels.
@@IcelanderUSer yup just like that crap they spray all over ur food that's poison when it's growing and u pay for it and eat it.
Are we talking about people forgeting something so simple such as the dose makes the poison?
Donât meat eaters eat veggies too?
Hubby and I just had some great grilled ribeye steaks last night from the gas grill. OMG, they were so good! I do worry about the charring but it's the way I love my steak. I asked him yesterday to not char mine so much anymore because I hear so often how bad it is for us. The timing of this video by you could have only been better if I'd seen it before the weekend (before my less-charred steak). lol I'm going to just enjoy my steaks the way I like them from now on without that worry. Thank you!
I love ribeye steak
Mmmmm. Char grilled ribeye with lots of luscious marbling.
Adam Vance
Yes!!!!
I donât need a sauce for my steak, but a good blue cheese sauce on top...
Yes....lots of delicious juicy marbled fat please! đđ
Sirloin, imo does better.
Good job pointing out the charcoal fluid. I could only imagine the damage that does to your body. Everyone should pick up a charcoal chimney starter. Ive seen them as cheap as $7. I would recommend everyone use something like that.
We grill almost every week I never worry about it. I love charred fat on steak. We use natural hardwood lump charcoal and a charcoal chimney so no starter fluid needed. I hate meat grilled over lighter fluid.
Thanks for the video!!!
Did anyone else have to watch this twice because youre mouth was watering too much. Great video thanks for sharing đ
Finally found a doctor who speaks the truth on CZcams
Truth being whatever you want to hear. You people will claim next that only trump lovers eat steak. Or use a grill.
Even though I live on the upper east side of Manhattan and use my gas grill 3 or 4 times a week. Favorites being grilled lamb and chops.
Never even knew this was an issue! Great day to spread awareness regarding this topic on one of Americaâs âNational BBQđđâ days...Thank you!
You, Dr. Fung, Dr. Berg, and Thomas Delauer should get together and do a podcast on Keto. You guys are the smarted, most educated guys I've ever seen on keto and IM fasting. I've learned so much from y'all. Thank you for all the education you produce

I love you, Dr.Berry!! Iâve seen nearly all of your videos, but this one pushed me over the edge Iâll be joining your Patreon crew tomorrow. Stellar work, sir!!
Dr Berry, thank you so much for taking time to educate us on all the various topics you present. I'm sure others will agree with me that we appreciate the time you invest in these videos. Knowledge is power!! (I say this as I'm eating my GRILLED chicken brat!!)
Thank you for all of your hard work to provide us with this information. It makes sense to me now why a vegetarian surgeon I worked with got bowel cancer. We all thought what the heck how did he get bowel cancer when he never eats meat. My son said to me just yesterday that if I was going to continue eating so much meat that I should write my will because I would get bowel cancer. Now I have the answer for him. We love barbecue flame grilled ribeye steaks and will to enjoy them.
You're the best Dr Berry. You keep me sane with your good information

Great video dr berry everything you makes the most sense I have lost 20 pounds in a month I'm going to stay on the keto plan lifestyle it most definitely works I have been doing the intermittent type fasting throughout the week and I'll treat myself on the weekends with a beer and steak dinner thanks again
Thank you Dr. Berry for breaking this down! It's definitely something I've been worried about lately.
this is what i've been saying for decades if we've done it for millions of years as a species then there's nothing to question, it's what your supposed to do.
Great video, I love to grill all the time and use natural charcoal briquettes and a chimney to light it. I have a friend that said something about Charcoal causing cancer. My initial thought was that seems silly but of course it peeked my curiosity so that's how I came across this video. Thank you for explaining it so well and putting my mind at ease. đđđ»

So glad I watched this. I love grilled and smoked food and almost decided against buying a smoker because the cancer rumors surrounding grilled and smoked foods. Thank you so much for dispelling the myths!
I love this video. You always make so much sense. I am learning and studying how research is supposed to be done in college. It is wonderful to see you telling people the truth about studies that really do not mean jack. The first thing my statistics prof. told us is this, "correlation does not prove causation" and also to remember that the studies can be skewed to suit the researcher. So do your own research and see what they did.
I would really love to see you do a video collaboration with Butter Bob. He has an excellent grasp of the science from a lay person's perspective. His personal story is inspiring too. Plus all of those B's would make a catchy title!
Thanks Dr. Berry. You are a blessing to us all.
Very good info Doc. always enjoy listening and learning from you.
We never stopped grilling. Natural hardwood charcoal or gas. Briquettes are gmo cornstarch and petroleum products with other unknowns.
Enjoy grilling all year. Freeze extra grilled meats to have easy keto meal starters on hand. Unbelievable taste!
Thank you, great information Dr. Berry!
Thank you for this video. The mere thought of not cooking meat over fire is so depressing it would make me go back into my cave and never come out.
Your low key sarcasm is freaking great. Love your channel!
Another terrific video doc. Thanks for your research and clear thinking.
Thanks again, Dr. Berry!
Grilled Ribeye. Medium Rare. Prime grade. Nothing better. Pro tip. Pick a ribeye with a nice thick cap. Love your videos and the message you are spreading.
The thruth is great Love ya Dr.Berry!
I love a good grilled steak, burger, eggplant, rack of ribs etc. The only downside is that you lose a lot of the fat.
So true
Manolis Theofilos throwing some butter on top helps that problem. đ
Just eat your meat raw (except pork) that's the way it was done before the invention of fire đ„. Kill it, drink the blood, eat the heart then the liver ( the best parts) give the other organs to your favourite pack members and share out the meat in a fair manner to the others.
Fativore Lifestyle they gave you a decent amount? And it was real butter? Where is this place? lol

Thank you Dr.Berry for sharing with us.
Hey Doc, thanks for taking the time to weed through the BS, and get the real facts to us! What are your thoughts to using a smoker?
hi dr berry, would you please make a video on the difference between men and women on keto? i saw several videos on how keto easily works for men but doesnt work for all women. some women got great results (it was also mentioned that women with certain problems like pcos etc benefit from keto but not for those with no health issues) whereas other women claims to have followed keto to the t but physically feel horrible and doesnt lose weight and even gain weight from it. they mentioned factors like hormones, how the female body is built differently and have different functions to men, and how a woman's body changes so frequently that our chemical and hormone levels can greatly differ during menstrual cycle and even at different times of the day. im just really curious if what they are saying has some truth to it that keto is not for everyone. i personally love it and want to share to family and friends but if there is a chance that this is true, i feel there is a need for understanding before recommendation. i hope this might be a topic for a near future video, thank you in advance dr berry! (:
Good idea. Even the original Dr Keyes study linking fat to heart disease looked at only men!
I only use hard charcoal no briquettes, no lighter fluid. I always was skeptical about all those stories. Thanks for sharing Dr. Berry. I will enjoy grass fed steak for dinner tonight with a generous amount of green veggies. TFS
I grill almost every weekend and I feel great. Thanks for all the good info doc
Myself and my dad, my brother. And on my mom's side my grandfather, both uncles, aunt, , all like Grilled meat with a bit of black char on it. Not only do we like it, we crave it. Our bodies, our stomachs, our digestion all feel great with it. My mom's side grandma and my mom is the only one of us who prefers half cooked meat.
The rest of us also get kinda sick from half cooked meats, but I've narrowed this down to it usually being from the meat being processed or another reason. I have eaten sushi and medium rare steaks from quality cuts and felt fine.
We heard about the charcoal broil being cancer causing and we all looked with extreme disbelief, no history of cancer in our ancestries. Combined with the fact that we feel great when eating the charbroiled meats made us discount that flash news.
I love your videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Dr Berry youâre the best.
Thanks for the info. I kept cutting every dark area of the meat, which ruined the experience.
I like you Dr. Berry and I hope that enough views and subscribers will make it possible to get a good microphone :)
It would help a lot with the quality because the content and the truth is already in it!
Dr. Berry....can you do a video on ulcers and acidity Pretty Please? I have been hospitalized twice in the past 3 years for erosive esophagitis. Itâs my understanding that when we have a situation like this that it means we donât have enough acid in our stomach. But when I took apple cider vinegar, I ended up with erosions along m upper GI tract that required immediate medical attention (Iâll leave out the details here on CZcams). I refuse to take PPIâs but this has been a horrific experience for me....especially twice. I love and respect your videos and professional input....Iâd appreciate some more information on this because when I search online, the info is conventional âwisdomâ which I canât subscribe to.....Please and thank you in advance....

Thank you Dr Berry
Thank you for bringing this truth.
Great video - Where are the studies on what we have done to change our food supply so our bodies can't properly use the food - like corn feed beef that is too high in omega 6 and not at all what our ancestors ate. I'll keep grilling my pasture raised grass fed beef and searing the fat and eating it all! Thank you for all the info you give us.
GREAT TOPIC!!! THANK YOU!!!
I've ate grilled meat since the age of 5 as dad grilled every Saturday and when I left home I did the same. Now almost 60 years later I've been grilling often at least twice a week and that includes during the winter. I've never had any signs of cancer and I don't get upset stomachs or anything of the sort. And I still do it the old way with good old fashioned charcoal (no gas grills or imitation charcoal here)
Your videos are terrific and make great sense to me as I recently had to have my lap band removed. I think I am on the right track for maintaining my healthy weight ( not skinny weight ). Sorry has nothing to do with my question.
Your videos back up with data- good. Regarding cancer which just seems to continue to explode. What do you feel is actually causing this and why ?
Thanks! I was looking for info on thisâ€

We grill nearly every day, here in Vegas....sometimes over mesquite wood but mostly on gas grille. Some times I smoke ribs and brisket but I never use lighter fluid.... use chimney method. Thanks for videos.......

GREAT VIDEO, thank you. I LOVE grilling... it's a great thing!!
I remember when the whole acrylamide hysteria hit the news, where they were attributing cancer risk to cereals, fried foods and foods cooked at a high temperature. What they conveniently left out is that the risk of cancer from carbohydrate consumption is very real, and that is what makes up the majority of the foods they claim is a cancer risk, albeit for the wrong reasons. The carb content, which simply turns into sugar, would likely account for the vast majority of cancer cases.
200 years ago no one worried about food illnesses nor had food related illnesses. Now of days we do cause of gmo food and the way we grow and handle food. It's sucks I remember as a child I was told the future will be great and there is many wonderful things but food isn't real. So much malnutrition from fake food consumption that they need to also take supplements.
Great video Dr Berry. Thanks for clearing up. How about roasted coffee? Recently Starbucks and other coffee related business in california need to include warnings on their coffee, that the coffee contains acrylamide that cause cancer. Is it another BS too?
