The first optical grade cutting polish designed to eliminate moderate to heavy paint defects and imperfections.
V36 is developed to produce a perfect swirl free finish. An ultra refined cutting polish developed to achieve the finest level of optical clarity. Powder free, dust free, & formulated for extended work time. V36 cutting polish is the first water based OEM approved polish capable of removing moderate to heavy paint defects permanently, delivering perfect results without filling in or covering up. Optical Grade micro abrasives rapidly eliminate imperfections and remove 2000-2500 grit sanding scratches, swirls and holograms. V36 delivers a perfect finish with fewer passes and is equally effective on ceramic finishes and conventional clear coats.
V36 delivers the finest results with unmatched optical clarity. Designed to function without oils, silicone or fillers, V36 maximizes efficiency by optimizing work time to deliver perfect results. VOC compliant and body-shop safe for any paint shop environment. Specifically engineered to work with water-based paints and ceramic clear coats.
After a few words with the client and a couple small test spots on the vehicle, I decided to correct the paint using the new V36 Optical Cut Polish teamed with a green Hex Logic pad on a Flex 3403 and a Porter Cable 7424XP. The V36 has just enough cut to where I was able to remove all the wash marring and holograms with only one pass per panel while still being able to finish down flawlessly, ready to be topped with a wax or sealant.
Being able to fully correct a car with one pad and one product makes paint correction so much faster and easier for the operator. On the softer jet black B-pillars, I was able to use the V38 Optical Final Polish with a black Hex Logic pad to achieve a flawless, defect-free surface that simply looked amazing.
For me, the best part of V36 and V38 was how easy they are to work with for the user. The optical grade polishes have a very long work time so I can keep working the polish for perfect correction of the paint surface.
Another unique feature the impressed me was that the polishes had zero dust residue.
Unlike other polishes that sling dust powder everywhere as the polish begins to break down, V36 and V38 both have no dusting effects as the polish works into the surface. Zero dust from polishing means I don't have to do back over the car cleaning up dust residue on the surface from inside the cracks and crevices. I can go straight from polishing to waxing and final wipe down without speeding extra time cleaning up the mess from polishing.

I just purchased a whole car detailing kit from Chemical guys. After 2 years of not even washing my car one time, I was able to resore the beautiful shine!!! I chose the Chemical guys because of their easy to use products and clear how to videos. These videos are much appreciated!!! Thank you Chemical Guys!!!!
It would be nice to see Greg complete the other side of the hood, using a V32 / V34 and then V36 and V38 to see how much difference there is or isn't in the extra steps.
This made me buy your random orbital and polisher kit online, it worked soooo good my 350z looks amazing now.
Thats the nicest looking hood from the junkyard ive ever seen...
Hahaha right
have none of you guys ever been to a pick and pull ? there are hood, doors, ect in pretty good condition. This one had dents, chips, rusted spots.... its not that good of condition.
What I noticed was that it looked like it already went through a bad compounding stage...just like what one would do before the second part of a 2-stage.
I am impressed with the V36 as a one step, that did a great job and I think that everyone can agree it made a great difference in a mere 20 minutes. How about showing us what the difference is now with a multi step that you were talking about. Take the untouched side in this video and multi step it and that way it will show how even better you can do. Again: love the one step that you did and would like to see how that compares side by side with multi step.
Wow!!!! Fabulous video and those results were mouth-dropping!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Forgot about this video!!! I literally did this today, V36, orange pad, on a saturday afternoon just hanging out around the garage
Very good job, can you show in the sunlight?
Details on what equipment you are using and repeating them is a good thing! Thank you! I'm a new customer!
oh ok thanks! I had just ordered the 7424xp from you guys couple weeks ago just making sure! keep up the videos!!
they help me out alot
Very good job. You made it shine! I have a black car and I just messed it up because I used brown rubbing compound all over my car and it left LOTSof swirls and small scratches. My car looks old and crappy. I need to learn how to restore my car's paint all over again without having to get a whole new paint job.
could you please do a tutorial on polishing knobs?
your wife gives the best tutorials on those hard to do things
@@aaronditchfield781Yep, I can confirm that!
Great video. I'm really impressed on how you can do 5 minutes straight in one take. This vid would have taken me 100 takes.
This was good man a lot better explained than most of the videos on CZcams
Hi Nic, thank you very much. We really want to get everyone pumped about detailing. Stay tuned, more great videos on the way.
great job men. I have a question after polishing that way you do it, I need to apply wax?
Yes, This will work with the Porter Cable 7424xp!!! I was gonna use the porter-cable for this video, but i wanted to change it up with the flex.
Yes, i would use the exact same speed on the flex, and the Porter Cable 7424xp.
-Greg@CG
Nice vid, I would like to know the difference between the wax and the sealant and is it necessary to use both and which one to be applied first? With thanks
Great video as always! I have a Classic Mini and would love to see more videos on it, how to detail it properly etc. If you could do one that would be great!
Say black one more fucking time... please.
+T2ak "He looks black"--George Zimmerman
fun drinking game... every time he says black you take a shot.... or mabye that's a way to get alcohol poisoning lol
Funny how? Funny like I'm a clown? I amuse you? Im here to fuckin amuse you? How da FUCK am I FUNNY?
Yea, that bastard....If.he says black one more time, I'm gonna get black at him for it !!
Dude, you do a good presentation. Stop using your hands so much and you can become an awesome presenter.
"It's black, it's neglected, it's got swirls and scratches and holograms all over the hood" - this might be the best vailed racist joke on the internet.
Nice video, man. I was just doing some research on polishing water based paints like a Tesla. I've used a lot of Chemical Guys products in the past and have always found it to be very effective. I'm not working on a car that is super damaged like this hood was, but I will definitely have to look at some of your lighter polishes and see what they might do.
Question about your Black wax. It looks like it stained your fingers a bit. Much filler in there? It looks like you were getting pretty great results without any filler waxes before, but I'd be curious how much of the results we saw at the end was due to the pigment in the wax filling up the rest of the scratches. The video barely shows a mark on the paint that could be corrected with a machine, but I'm sure in person you could still see some defects. Anyway, just curious why you chose to cover the panel with a black wax when the point was to show off the correction power of a '1 step'. (1 Step in my book would include the protection, by the way. This may have been a 1 Step correction product, but if you still have to wax afterwards then it is more like a 1st Step type product, yes?)
Great work either way. I'm not trying to take anything away from that. See you guys at SEMA again this year!
bought your HEX Logic Orange, Blue and Black pads and a bottle of the V36 to use on my 1981 Trans Am with a glossy black 16 year old paint job on it,, Got more done in the first spot in 5 minutes that I did using the other (wrong) method I was trying to get the perfect shine with, I am currently experimenting with a touch and blend on 2 spots on the hood, Will let you know if I pull it off
Cool demonstration!
AND REMEMBER: BLACK.
Marcelo RS possibly one of the funniest comments i have ever read lmao
just interested to know if this would be ideal to use on vw paint which is hard paint, then use pb blackhole then black on top as a wax for a final stage correction?
Great vid, I have a Buckingham blue lr3 what’s a good polish, sealer or wax after the correction and do you need to prep the surface first- panel wipe? BIG 👍
Hey Nigel, that's a great question. We recommend using the V Line Series kit to cover all your bases. Test the heavier V32 and V34 compounds on deep scratches, intense swirl marks, and oxidation to remove severe damage and restore reflection to the paint. After compounding, or when dealing with lighter swirl marks on a newer car, test out V36 and V38 to refine the gloss, shine, and clarity of the painted finish. Use the full V-Line Kit to restore paintwork, clear optical plastics on headlights and tail lights, wheel finishes, carbon fiber, and any other exterior car part that is shiny or clear. For sealant, we recommend JetSeal, which is our longest lasting sealant. It offers durable protection against the elements for up to one whole year! Due to the dark color of your car, we suggest using Black Wax on your LR3, which is specifically made to make dark colored cars like yours shine! I'll also leave a link to another great alternative wax below. Thanks for watching Nigel and let us know if you have any other questions. Cheers!

I love the mini in the back!
Chemical Guys Please could you do a video for removing scratches and swirls by hand, as I don't (and many others too maybe) have a polishing machine. Thanks!
can swirl marks be removed by hand ? or is it a machine only way to get them out ?
one question please? between the dewalt dwp 849x and the flex pe 14-2-150 the best for you is? regards form portugal
for how long that shine stays? what is the interval period between two v-36 polishing procedure?
Man, I have done every exact little thing you did in this video, along with every product, on two black cars and the swirls did not go! I even tried your heavier polishes and pads and still nothing... it worked great on the headlights though.
UNBELIEVABLE!
Is there any need to go with a finer cutting polish? Or is this Med good? For example, i have a car which isn't in bad condition but hasn't been buffed in 3 years, i just don't want to go too aggressive on it.
When ever I one step polish my cars there is always some kind of white dust that flies off the pad from the machine. Am I adding to much pressure, product, not enough, etc? What am I doing wrong and if I wipe the dust off will it scratch the paint? It happened most on panel gaps, panel bents ( the body of the car is curved), areas where the pad is not totally on the paint, and curves on the car.
can you do this with the Porter cable? using the orange pad and v36?
Hallo is gewoon water ok voor de pads te besproeien voor je start,Of beter met iets anders?
my scratches look about the same not as much but as deep.
So should I be able to just use v38 and if I still have micro scratches use p40?
Would be great to see some polishing with a rotary polisher on the side panels
What are the black trolleys you use with all the detailing products on?
I tried V36 with a orange pad but the hand version and it has just made my paint have a white haze to it, do you think it is my paint as it is a MG6 so it is Chinese
Are you not supposed to apply a sealant before waxing? When's the best time to use sealant?
Hey Greg you said that you were using a 5" chemical guys backing plate on the Flex XC3401VRG. The link provided shows the regular 5.5" factory backing from Flex. Can you please provide a link a to the backing plate that you mentioned in the video made specifically for the 3401. Thanks.
Thanks for the info!
Hey, what are the tiny dots/specs on the polished side? 12:06 Thanks
that hood isn't in bad condition...it looks like it was just freshly wet sanded
+iAmBurberry _ It's a general sales/marketing tactic to get people to rush into buying their product even when they don't need it yet by suggesting anything that isn't freshly polished is in dire need of polishing.
You may think that people are generally too smart for that but a lot of people ain't as their conservative mechanism kicks in and they soon convinced themselves they should polish it "just to be safe" - a thought process that marketers attack.
Hi.. can you please let me know which all area I have to polish?I have Toyota camry 2014. I know hood and top layer n door panel. I am little confused about rear bumper where colour of paint is same but I am not sure if it's plastic or they are all good to do polishing? This is only thing stopping me from doing it? I have seen so many videos everyone shows off hood but not where we have to do? Plz help.
Hi Abhishek, good question. You can polish any part of your car that is painted and clear coated, including your painted and clear coated bumpers. Thanks for watching, Abhishek, and thanks for being a part of the Chemical Guys family!
looks like a new hood awesome👍
So what if you cars hood really is messed up and you are new to the polishing game, can you still use the products that were mentioned? I like that you can do a one step process rather than 3 steps.
When I am using the V36 or V38 polishes, it likes to get caked onto the surface, but this doesn't happen when I use the V32 or V34 compounds. Why is this happening, what am I doing wrong or not doing?
Aside from misting with water could you use your quick detailer?
So in a one step polish in like this you would recommend wax over jetseal109?
Can you apply this by hand?
after the V36 can u use V7 then a wax? really want to pick up some V36.. Just picked up some Black light and V7 for our black SUV...
I've got a white 2013 VW Jetta, it's used for everything but I don't want it looking bad and have it crap out on me.
I think V36 w/orange pad would be great on it, I still need a buffer wheel though (and not $330 ;) lol)
What wax would you recommend?
+The Creationman Black
What is complet name of polishing paste ,who is provider ? Thanks for your video!
Does v36 contain any silicone, polymers, or wax?
can you use big foot 21 machine to remove swirls? thanks
Do I still need to wax after a polish? I have parts on my truck that have been covered by stock stickers for 10 years and I want to get the rest of the paint that nice. Is this possible with a 1 step? I was looking at your polish wax and shine in 1 product the gap 106
Hey, if you're looking for a one step, V4 All in one Polish is the product for you! Chemical Guys V4 All In One Polish creates a mirror finish topped with durable protection in just one step. V4 cuts away light imperfections, scratches, and swirls, finishes like a fine polish, restores lustrous shine and deep reflection, then adds a layer of durable protection against the elements. V4 cuts away light imperfections, scratches, and swirls, but if your truck has anything more severe than that, a more aggressive product will be needed. If you're not sure if your truck might need a more aggressive approach, you can always DM us pictures of your paint to our Facebook page. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos headed your way soon!

i bet this guy could polish a turd he be like let me just get my turdcut 101
Incredible job.
Thank you Jay, we really appreciate the feedback. Polishing is by far the most asked about topic when it comes to detailing, attaining that award winning finish of your paint is highly sought after. Accomplishing the perfect detail takes time, patience, and some experimentation. Stay tuned Jay, we have alot of really informative videos coming out all the time.
can i use the porter cable dual action polisher?
i love to have that shirt, where could i get it from? pls
what speed should I start the polishing with ?
Pretty good , but how long did it really take to do that half?
can this be used with hand polishing? i dont have the scratch lying around to buy a couple hundred dollar polishing tool...
How Long does it take to do. this on a normal car like Audi a3 or a VW Golf? Just The polishing Step without claying or something
Hi Markus,
It all depends on the damage of the paint work. For an average sized car you're doing by yourself, it should take at the very least, an hour. Thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family!
Black btw
how often do you change out the buffing pad? please reply
Austin Hacker your comment is a year ago still no one reply hahah. That mean the owner of this video is not active with the comments
So if you are doing an entire car. After I apply the wax. can I go ahead and start wiping it off the way I put it on because if I were to do the entire car it's going to take more than 20 minutes from headlights to taillights
logically... unless your cleaning up faster then application, then your in a race against time.
nice video! keep it up
whats up with the little circles after you applied the wax?
Whats the name of that wax? I didn't catch it.
how can I get a hold of this product and machine
Try a Finixa one step polish! goes from a 1500 denib to great finish, even on black!
ABEAM TENTS like
would you use the same speed for the 7424xp?'
Flex is the best. high speed orbital almost obsolete in the dealership i work at.
what about the bumper? if there are swirls on it? do the same thing?
Great video, but Ive never seen it take that long and have that detailed a description to removing tape.
Could you maybe link all of these How to Polish videos in a Folder on your channel?
and please do more features on the Mini ;) I love mine.
I am new to this whole taking care of the paint on my vehicle. I have always tried to keep my vehicle clean by washing it once a week. Now my Jeep Liberty is 10 years old and I have begun trying to restore the paint. I guess I am trying to find out what my first step is after I have washed the Jeep.
Wash, Clay, Polish (which is what ive been trying to watch videos and learn to do for the past month), Then wax
So it is two steps, one more step than I was looking for on my old beater.
Is the pad going to work properly using just 'basic water' @5:13 instead of 'chemical guys water' ???
Any tips, for a brand new car with light scratch on black paint?
Apparently everyone has ADD because I had no problem with his hand movements when watching...
yeah same. i didn't even notice his hand gestures... haters gon' hate i guess.
What speed you put it on
My right ear enjoyed this video
What speed did you use for the Flex
Do you guys have a video on how to cut down to remove all the pits / divots you see on the polished side? I've got a lot of divots in my hood -- not chips, but definitely pits in the paint, and 36 + 38 got the swirls out but the divots remain. Do I just go to 32 on an orange pad, or should I do 34 first?
Those pits sound like mini dents. Typically you would try V34 before moving onto a heavier compound. Was your car repainted by any chance?
Chemical Guys - No, it wasn't repainted. One owner before me and I have all the records. And under the hood badge (removed for polishing) there's a small bit that shows the original condition.
There are some rock chips that go down to primer, and I'll be touching those up once I've got the rest of the surface as solid as I can get it.
I'll give 34 a try with a new orange pad and see what happens. Thanks for the reply!
This is a 2006 Porsche 911 in Lapis Blue. The original owner drove it year round and on the highway a lot. It has 110k miles and the paint has just been beaten up. Along with probably 30 small chips, there are thousands of the tiny divots. I'm thinking 34 may get into those more thoroughly than did 36. I'm not getting any paint color on the pad with 36, so I still appear to have some clearcoat left to work with.
If all else fails, take it to a paint professional and they can measure the paint depth, and possibly they could determine what the divots are. It sounds like rocks were bouncing off of the hood, and left dents and chips. From my understanding their's puddy that they sell which you could use to fill in the divots. Try it out see what happens, worse case scenario you have the car repainted.
Will the 7424xp work the same?
I have the black wax it is the best!! I used it on my black car.
How do you know when to stop polishing?
I would love to try v36 out any samples u could send me
Okay...how would a novice like me, remove branch scratches from my vehicle that my husband when hunting and 4 wheeling in. Sigh..my grey 2007 suburban. In addition, would love to know how to polish up the plastic door runners. (not at the bottom, on the door itself) Would like to stay in a medium price point, but willing to purchase the right tools.
I just ordered the v34 for my vehicle because I watched another video telling me it was the great one step, to save time and money, which one is the best choice?
Hi Jody! Chemical Guys V34 is a great compound to use with a two step polish, if you are looking for a good one step polish, we recommend using Chemical guys VSS it removes scratches, swirls, water spots, and any other imperfections.
