This episode is from another perspective, Sol’s perspective- not necessarily the Jedi - so like memories, some things are vague, missing, parodied - and wrong. So we might not find out what happened until all major characters have their viewpoint to have a voice -

I feel like Sol obsession's with having a padawan if it had been known from earlier in the season would have made the death of Jecki have a bigger impact.

    • @voiceinthenoise3357
      @voiceinthenoise3357 Před 22 dny +12

Exactly, we just needed more backstory to explain that Sol was restless and insecure about not yet having a padawan, and this desperation to prove himself or find meaning as a Jedi (his frustration with the Jedi council for not seeing him as worthy of being a master/having a padawan?) made him make brash choices and false assumptions that suited what he wanted. This would explain how he could have convinced himself, in the urgency and confusion, that the twins' needed protecting from their mother.

25:25 THIS is probably EXACTLY what 7 should have revealed. That in that moment that Sol chose Osha over Mae on that bridge/catwalk, Sol created Qimir and it was Qimir that saved Mae. Or even that the witches had somehow made that possible with their little group trance deal. The reason Qimir is as old as he indicates is because the witches did not die cause the wookie was broken free...but the wookie was broken free cause the witches completed their ritual of passing their spirits to create a new life...using Sol's inner turmoil as the catalyst. So combining all the lives of all the witches that passed their spirits to create Qimir would make him older than he appears. Making Qimir a mix of all those witches and Sol...which would explain why he is so powerful.

Is this his first mission away from Coruscant, and he’s homesick? Does he miss the temple? Does he miss his Friends? Mother Koril is probably the one that saved Mae on the bridge. Koril must have been the force that was pulling Mae away from Sol's force grip. That is why it felt so difficult for him to save both. His main focus was not trying to hold up both sides of the bridge. Koril naturally was trying to pull Mae to herself cuz they are both the "dark" forces in their respective pairings (Aniseya/Osha: light, Koril/Mae: dark), and Sol could feel less resistance with Osha so he saved the twin that he knew he could definitely save and wanted to be his padawan.
Maybe Qimir, being a lost Jedi at the time of the Brendok incident, was attracted to the planet for the same reason the Jedi were cataloguing it. He incorporated part of Koril and Aniseya's forces into him when they parished which is why he has the connection to the twins and knew about their dyad. Koril and Aniseya's forces probably live on through Qimir who is using their dyad strength for his own purposes. Come on, let's see it!
P.S. Once Aniseya and Koril decide to go into a disintegrated form, they are essentially "sacrificing" themselves for that power and can no longer return to their previous physical body.

I dont understand the issue people have with how some of fight scenes in episode 5 were shot. I'm sure it was intentionally shot like that. First of all, the fight is sort of being shown from Oshas perspective (sort of!) and so we're not going to see every angle and the perfect shots. We're going to see it through the trees and trying to make out whats going on like Osha would be. And trying to make out whats going on, for me personally, was intriguing. It added this mystery to The Stranger. We don't fully understand at that point who this character is, and we dont fully understand his fighting. I dont know if that makes sense, but i just don't think it was bad because we couldnt make everything out.

I've seen a lot of people complaining that episode 7 was character assassination of the Sol we've come to know. But this older, wiser person was the result of his past. If they had revealed his past to the audience it wouldn't have felt so shocking to see him behaving like he did. Plus we, the audience, would have had the whole season to watch him struggling against some of those old demons: of letting his emotions take over, of needing to save people, of being impulsive. Plus it would mean so much more to us when he learns that Mae lives. I think they sacrificed a much better story for the sake of having a mystery box.

My theory: Sol is Qimir’s dad. He disowned Qimir at a very young age (3/4) because he didn’t pass the Jedi test or was showing too much darkness/emotion. This is why when they meet for the first time Sol says he “senses something familiar in Qimir” and Qimir replies “you don’t remember me?” Either Sol gave him that scar or Koril gave it to him. Anyway, Osha is the prodigy Sol wanted so he overcompensates with her to make up for the fact that he failed his own child, like any deadbeat dad when they get a second chance to parent someone else’s kid instead of repairing the relationship with their own. Koril, to spite Sol for robbing her of everything, especially her kids, find & trains Qimir in the dark-side & uses him & Mae (by proxy) to enact revenge on the Jedi for what they did on Brendok. Only thing throwing me off is that it’s unclear why Koril doesn’t directly get Mae to do this unless they just want it to be some grand reveal that she’s Qimir’s master in the finale or second season.

I have a lot to criticize about this episode but I am gonna focus with this comment on comparing the structure of this show to Andor.
Andor gives us a structure that is straight forward. It gives us a contious story that shows us new characters and characters we know from Rogue One and we see their impact on how Andor became this rebel who believes so much in his cause that he would ultimately give up his life only to damage the empire.
What is important to me is that the show follows a 3 episode story arc structure. Each of these story arcs built up this huge finale and each of them impact our protagonist as a character. It all rises the stakes for all character for this final confrontation.
Now I want to highlight the episode before the finale. What makes the episode stand out is that it moves every character like pieces on a chess board for that finale event.
This acolyte episode and the episode before don't do this. Mae could find qimir and oscha but she is not in the position to do so. Qimir has no reason to leave and won't let oscha leave (even though he lets her think she could leave any moment if she wanted to). Venestra has no idea how to find qimir or sol or anyone really. There are no stakes to this confrontation and there is no clear way to resolve this situation.
The structure of this show is a mess which threw away a lot of potential.

You actually talk about the content, and don't constantly critique every little thing. You guys point out the good qualities of the show and then also present the bad, but in a respectable way. You guys are my favorite Star Wars channel for easter eggs and recaps. Thanks again!

Aniseya is clearly using a force technique very different in nature from the old familiar Jedi mind trick, but it makes sense to put them in a similar category of "mind tricks." The effect is all happening inside the victims mind, i.e no external witnesses can observe it. Obi wan's manipulation of the storm trooper could also reasonably be called "mind control." Or I've also wondered if there are bad actors playing up the controversy for other reasons? Folks accusing Screencrush of being paid by Disney because they like talking about Star Wars lore feels way over the top for sure.

  • @lookingoverstrangeterrainl3667

    Dear @Screencrush
    Here is a theory:
In the Rise of Skywalker, both Kylo and Rey were a diad. Palpatine while away on his planet spent the entire time not only building up his fleet, but also collecting force sensitive people who were amongst the crowd. I propose that they were all under the same black eyed spell.
Having both Kylo and Rey present allowed Palpatine to take the power of two in combination of the many in the crowd would make Palpatine the strongest force user in the Galaxy.
I believe The Mother was going to use the twins to strengthen her power, and the Coven was a mass of force sensitives willing to sacrifice themselves to be the power of many them all being Acolytes.Thats why they either passed out or died when the connect was severed like in Rise of Skywalker.
DaRTH PLAGUES influenced The Mother to start this Coven to learn the secret to eternal life.
Either Master Andarah or Kylo Grin are the Apprentice to Plageus.
Also there is something with Master Andarah only taking her gloves of to cast the Covens spell from the Wookie. Plus we don't see her talking to the counsel in the presence of Sol. Once The Mother was killed, it would have been important for Master Andarah to get the twins to Plageus to complete whatever she learned.
So you can say the same for Kylo Grin.
You can poke all the whole in this theory all you want. But t makes sense to a degree.

I have never spent so much time trying to rationalize the story, decisions, characters and find the answer being: it just doesn’t matter. The characters have no depth and nothing pays off at all. The pacing took forever only to reveal what already happened with just a little more detail. There’s no way this season was written to be concluded in the last episode.
Andor is the pinnacle of a Star Wars series. At every moment, you felt attached the characters. You know what they want, what they are motivated by. They make rational choices. The story pays off entirely, I’m not filling in the blanks. This show is exhausting to discuss.
