I ate the Reeses and chocolate before starting the project. I'm still calling it a win
Haha! Reece's are my favorite. They won't last long! :) Thanks for wtachign Sean!
Holy cow I almost went into a sugar coma just watching that video. But it was fun watching the referential measurements. I do love the way contrasting plugs look. Thanks for the fun video.
Haha! You and me both! :) Thanks for watching as always Pat!
Excellent. Love seeing a project video. Even if it is one in 20 videos I’d be happy. Any balance when it comes. Cool seeing what is probably one of the first projects in remodeled shop.
It will definitely be cabinets. I have all this stuff with no where to put it. Probably start that up in the next week or so! Thanks as always for watching fearsomewarrior. I like the project builds more too. They take more time and get less views, but I like building stuff!
Another great video as always. Love this idea simple but so useful. Thanks for sharing as always
Thanks so much Jim! It was a fun little project. I'd like to do more project builds on this channel, but with my posting schedule it's difficult as these take me 2-3 days to film unlinke the tool videos! :(
Hummmm. Don't have any oak, but I do have a pile o pallet wood... Merry Christmas. Take care & stay safe.
Pallet wood would work just as well if not better! Happy holidays to you as well, and thanks for watching Doug!
Loved the project! I need to make one so we can get stuck into a few s’mores too. Cheers 👍😎🇦🇺
Haha! Thanks so much for watching John! I had fun with it! :)
Nice to see a cool project video!
I know! I’m definitely not doing enough of these lately. Will be a few coming up soon, need to finish my wife’s desk and start building some new cabinets for the shop. Thanks for watching Mike!
Great build, to bad I'm eating carnivore now.
Oh, man I need to be doing that. Maybe after the holidays!
Very nice!
Thanks so much woodchip! I appreciate it as always! :)
Fylnndogg,
I was surprised that you didn't sand all the parts before assembly. It would have made access a little easier.
Bob
Oh I probably should have! :) This really was an on the fly project, with no road map, those are the kinds of projects I really don't think ahead that well! Great point though and thanks for watchign Bob!
He did that @14:00. 100 and 150 grit sand paper.
Nice whole family gift idea, looks me my neighbors. Parents like the tray and kids just see the candy. Win. Win. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work.
*good for my neighbors* damn spellcheck:)
Haha! Too funny, thank you so much for watching and great point with the kids and adults both loving a gift like this! Thank you so much for watching and commenting wj8108!
Fun build. About 20 years ago I bought a carton of bamboo tongue & groove flooring. I got it because, at that time, it was new and I liked the look. I eventually used it as the bottoms of some serving trays. Nobody knew what kind of wood it was. Like you, I trimmed the tongue/grooves. I discovered it could be planed, sanded, glued, dowelled, sawed, etc. It also took a shellac finish real good. Always fun to see a new video from you. PS - Good shirts. Where's the new lathe? Merry Christmas.
Oh interesting! Had no idea that bamboo could be planed etc! Thank you for sharing that. I actually have a scrap piece of it laying around and need to make something with it so that helps a ton knowing that! Lathe will be coming soon . Hoping early 2024! Thanks so much for watching as always!
Great video! Beautiful project! I have some left over LVP...I think I'll try that!😂😂😂 Not sure what time zone you're in but here in Oregon, summer ended sometime in September...just say'n!! Blessings!!!
Oh man! What a beautiful place you live! I’m here in central Indiana, it’s definitely starting to show signs of winter. No snow yet, but it’s coming!
Alternative to screws would be dowels.
Yessir! I probably would have done that if I had some wooden dowels. I was under a little bit of a time crunch on this project as well! Thanks so much for watching Ken!
@FlynndoggWoodwork always fun. I have made a few trays like that but without the s'mores dividers.
@@kenerickson4923 I loved your live edge trays you made. Very nice!
Love your videos! Saw you had a Jet drum sander in the background. You got any tips for adjusting the tracking of the feed belt. Mine keeps drifting and I can't seem to dial it in. :(
Really, interesting, I haven't had that problem. I'm wondering if there is a way to tighten it. Now you have me curious. I'll have to look into this. Thanks for watchign dasfreakster!
I have the same sander. After 7 or 8 years of hobby use, it began drifting. No adjustments helped at all. The drifting issue seems to be a chronic problem on the internet. I fought the problem for months. Jet tech-support seemed clueless. I bought different belts and ruined them trying to get them to track straight. I asked a mechanical engineer friend to come and look at it. He diagnosed the problem in about 5 minutes. It was the knurled drive roller. The knurls (pointy nubs) had worn down unevenly and pulled the belt to one side - no matter the adjustment of the idler roller. I couldn't even see it at first. So, I ordered a new roller from Jet and it works as good as new. Good luck. Very frustrating.
@@richpeggyfranks490 Oh wow! Thank you so much for sharing richpeggyfranks!
Looking good, but.... Why the screws? Just using walnut dowels would be way less work, methinks....
You are 100% correct. All I had were the plugs, I could have made some walnut dowels but was lazy. I guess it was more of an excuse to use the plugs than to have screws in it!
Dogg, man...WTF..."referential measurements?" We're only woodworkers here. Hey, good re-purposing, but my old lady is going to have to get a gym membership in order to lift that oak tray full of jars and candles. Dogg, man, look at you in a t shirt and shorts in late fall in Indiana, must be that sweet, sweet insulated shop you've got there. Gone are the days of wearing a knit cap, and overcoat in the shop. Nice! One serious note, please consider using the start pin in your router insert when making curves. If one did not come with the kit, JessEm has a sweet little pin for around $5. Even though we know you are careful and know what you're doing, we'd just like to recommend that to you so that nothing untoward will happen. But, God forbid, if something were to happen, could I have your Paolini?
Nice job in this video. As always I and the meatballs here in the shop enjoyed this. I'll let you know when the shoulder heals enough so that you can get me back into my push-up challenge.
Thanks so much as always for watching meat! I hope you’re recovering well from the shoulder surgery! It’s funny you mentioned the weight of this thing. You hit the nail on the head. She’s a little hefty! Totally correct on the start pin. I actually removed it for this project don’t know why. I always feel like it gets in the way but it is a great safety feature and need to use it more often. Probably on takes one mishap to completely change my mind. I’ll put it back in!
@@FlynndoggWoodwork Put it in Dogg. No one will fault you for that and if you have young viewers, they will see it being done in a safe and efficient manner. Personally, I know you know what you are doing but accidents happen in the blink of an eye. Have you ever seen what Stumpy Nubs did to his hand while power carving? He got my attention. Best of luck, always.
@@themeat5053 oh no! I now I'm going to have to check out what stumpy did. I'm not sure I want to know, but it's always good to have a healthy fear of your tools I think!
I don't think. Using scented candle. would be a good idea..
Yeah, someone else had mentioned that! I had just gone to wallyworld and picked up a couple because they are cheap. Good catch though.
Lol. Can’t roast marshmallows over candles, can’t drink out of a water hose, all cars have seatbelts, no more eight track tape decks…yep, I’m old, and those were the good old days! I was gonna say I think that they recommend not cooking with scented candles…but what do I know…I’m old. Great project. Turned out beautiful! Really like the wow factor the plugs add! Nice job!
@@jeffgass89 Haha! Love this Jeff, too funny. I think the last thing I need to worry about is what those scented candles are putting on my marshmallows after what I've put into my body over the years. But yes, everyone is probably right probably not the best choice for candles. Thanks for making my laugh today! :)
I just wouldn’t want my s’more to taste like lavender soap.
@@pazmaniaoh6341 haha! I agree, although you may have just come up with the latest fad in smores! Lavender Smores!
Please stop with the movie clips
Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it
Scented candles 🤦🏼♂️
Haha! I know. S’mores that taste like lavender. Gross!
