Nikon 180-600mm f/5-6.3 Bird Photography | Photographing Shorebirds

I'm out in the field today using the Nikon 180-600mm f/5-6.3 lens and the Nikon Z8 to photograph some migratory shorebirds. I had found a beautiful untouched beach location on the east coast of Tasmania, which was ripe with shorebirds. ..but just not today.

This is my Rig too Z8 and 180-600 Z .. both new and need a trip out in Nature but that will bre happening a lot from April in the South African bush where I live

I see you had a Gopro mounted in flash hotshoe. Was this to capture video or gyro data for post stabilization? I understand that Nikon video files don't include gyro data for use in apps like gyroflow unlike Sony cameras.
I'm Interested as I'm looking to change from Sony A7IV to a Z8 setup. I tried Sony 200-600 G lens and video stabilization was terrible compared to my old Canon setup with EF100-400L lens even with Sony 200-600 at 400mm so I returned the 200-600 lens and I am now selling the Sony A7IV body as I'm not happy with Sony body (poor stabilization, too small a body size, poor colours straight out of camera vs old Canon camera, lack of firmware updates from Sony for cameras, etc).

Thanks so much, thanks for watching! The GoPro on top was only to capture another angle, but it was kinda boring to watch because the birds weren’t close enough. Z8 has great stabilisation, as long as you’re in the Sport mode. Disappointing about your Sony, but I have heard those complaints before. Best stabilisation I’ve used is in Panasonic cameras (S5, GH5), incredible stuff. The Z8 and Z9 are very close though!
