#hakuho #terunofuji #allbouts - Sport
Hakuho is the most impressive genius of a single sport I have ever seen.
The Michael Jordan Of Sumo. The Pele of Sumo. The Babe Ruth of Sumo.
He didn't win just because he was big or strong or balanced. He won because he had a deep understanding of the sport.
He defeated some challengers just by looking at them with deathlust.
He could psych out anyone who wasn't prepared to defeat a true legend, before the hands touched the ground.
He's my favorite athlete of all time. Anytime he lost was worth throwing chairs. Pillow chairs!
Because he was so good, he had so few challengers.
They earned their names for fighting him.
He earned his by pure conquest.
They are not the same.
Hakuho is the Sumo Hercules.
Not always a hero, but always a legend.
Hakuho might win like 80% of their matches, but teru always fights like a champion. Both great Yokozuna
More like 95%, and winning is apart of being the champion. Terunofuji is a smug asshole. I like the direction Hakuho was takin sumo, closer to being a spectator sport without all the bullshit JSA rules.
9 for Hakuho
4 for Teru
Roughly 70% for Hakuho.
@GForce Sumo! I thought for a minute keisho was going to go 14-1 this basho and maybe win the next to become Yokozuna, but I'm not sure he will even win this one. I don't think he has the stuff for Yokozuna
But Terunofuji is winner of ❤
Hakuho said himself that Terunofuji's ascension to Yokozuna status was what in part convinced him to retire, knowing that there will be another Yokozuna to make sure the sumo spirit is still going strong.
I don't think you can fully appreciate just how technical and cerebral Hakuho was unless you've practiced martial arts, particularly grappling arts, yourself. Both fighters are such beasts in terms of raw speed and strength. But so often Hakuho won the toughest battles with supreme technical skill or simply playing the chess game better. Such a legend.
Any sumo fan whether they like Hakuho or not, must admit that he was the greatest to ever do it.
Agree. I struggle to like Hakuhos aggressive style and attitude, but I can't deny how good his sumo is. His awareness and technical skill is definitely that of a legend.
besides Chiyonofuji, Hakuho would be my favourite because of his combination of speed, strength and cerebral skills.
@@smoothcortex honest question: can you clarify what you don't like about him? Give one example? I don't really understand what people dislike except when he pushes people out at the edge. I didn't see any of that behavior here. He seems pretty classy to me.
@@JK-nh6jp I already gave an example, and agree Hakuho is a legend! I think it's a personal and emotional thing. From another perspective, there are sumo like Ura who smile and show great sportsmanship. I can imagine there are some people who don't like the attitude Ura brings. However, both Hakuho and Ura have demonstrated strength and skill regardless of their personality.
At the of the day we support who we feel a connection with, whatever that may be.
Holy crap, Hakuho's last bout was already 4 months ago. I still feel that victory roar big Hak did after winnning against Teru, disgraceful to the JSA's eyes but it was a spectacle for someone like myself, a foreign fan of sumo.
Amazing way to end a long and legendary career, at least in my point of view.
Both of them are not only insanely strong, they're also both insanely smart and well-connected.
it was a HELL YEAH for himself, and a FUCK YOU to the JSA. Legend!
1:35 Hakuho’s genius on full display - how many people has Teru just crushed with that exact clamp?
I am so glad I was alive to see Hakuho, the greatest sumo wrestler of our time.
all*
Hakuho is a psyho... 😅 Like most of yokozuna/MMA fighters/militars/politicians, etc.
all time?...
If you needed proof of how good Terunofuji is, you just need to watch this compilation and realize that he did well vs Hakuho.
Asashoryu holds a winning record vs Hakuho...
Japenis aren't too happy that the Mongolians are dominating theie national sport. They hold tremendous amount of grudge against Hakuho who prevented Japs from winning a championship for 10 year period. That's why they demoted him for an insignificant shit.
10 years ago and Teru looks the exact same he never ages that’s crazy
cant wait for their 2021 clash, great compilation !
Thanks! 🙏🏻
Yokozuna vs Yokozuna hopefully both undefeated in that tournament.
@@dustinmichel7608 Yesterday shows 14-0 for both. Takayasu and Shodai put up a good fight though!
Well, Hakuho dominated Teru... Hakuho starting to age but still strong...
@@jectan2117 Hakuho is retired now. His strength doesn't apply. His knee isn't responding to treatment anymore.
Terunofuji's victories tell me more about Hakusho because of the crowd reaction. It's clear no one expects Hakuho to lose. A testament to Terunofuji's skill and strength for sure. But very telling about how Hakuho is viewed by the crowd.
Yep, never saw the Japanese fans throw their seat cushions when Hakuho won....
The way the camera focuses on the loser instead of the winner tells you a lot.
@@miked2802 yes they did, when he was coming up and winning against then Yokozuna
Also, factoring in Hakuho's age which is well over 30 in these clips, the fact that the crowd still expects him to dominate everyone everywhere regardless speaks to his greatness 🐐🐐🐐
@@miked2802 they only throw their cushions when a maegeshira rank (lower top division rank) beats a Yokozuna. It's called a kinboshi (golden star) and is considered an exciting upset. Doesn't really have to do with who they support.
15:52 that final push though 😅
Noticed that too. Hakuho is extremly disrespectful to his opponents.
@@voevodineu especially someone who has a loaded history of knee injuries like teru...
passing of the baton right there
"Asashoryu sends these greetings"
@@poetsrear Chingis khan sends his regards
Even though Hakuho is an amazing fighter, I can't help but root for Teru! There's just something about his courage and humbleness that really makes him not just an honourable sumo wrestler, but an honourable man.
I totally agree! Teru is way more classy as a yokozuna than Haku was.
@@jimtakahashi4638 he just became a yokozuna yesterday jesus
@@srbolainas1427 : Ah~, you just started watching sumo yesterday, huh?
@@srbolainas1427 Terunofuji was promoted to Yokozuna on July 2021.
@@potatoenjoyer5255 i don't think you got the point of my comment
Hey Don Don please keep the Hakuho compilations coming. Now that he won't be on the dohjo anymore we can at least enjoy all of his past matches. I miss him already. 😢😢
Me too, yes more Hakuho vids coming your way. And thank you for supporting this channel! 🙏🏻
@@DonDonSumo
My pleasure.
I feel like I got into Sumo at the best time. This is incredible.
You're addicted now. Hang on. It's a great ride. Welcome.
and he retires.
Its always the right time to get into Sumo
@@shakes.dontknowwhatyergettin Of course, but not all times are the same. The time when Hakuho was the thing was the best time. Whoever missed it will never experience what we did.
I can tell you you are unlicky my friend
The time when Hakuho was ozeki was best era of sumo
Too many legends were there and of course legendary Asashoryu vs Hakuho rival and Harumafuji was ozeki
Every bout shown here Terunofuji had his fists down before Hakuho. He gave Hakuho the initiative in every bout as a sign of respect to Hakuho. Unbelievable.
Last bout was that nudge at the end from Hakuho, TeruZilla must be anxious for revenge this Sunday.
@Venancio Rodrigues Pretty sure its money.
@@caduceus33 yeah it is money, was just reading about it, think 30,000 yen in each so like maybe $275, the number of envelopes depends on like sponsors of the event and how much they allocate to each match, varies per match
Yes I also feel.from Nepal. I can't understand this march but really enjoyed and view over one year
@@haasii yup, it’s money. It cost me roughly $600 US to be a sponsor for a Tochi match a few years ago. Half of that goes in the envelope as winnings and the other half goes to JSA
The 73rd Yokozuna
Who else is here just hours before their July 2021 clash?
What a dangerous sport. Thats why people love it
Hakuho is more explosive. When the fight is longer, the heavier Terunofuji wins.
They're both such great athletes... I feel like a lot of Teru's wins come from finding out how to best Hakuho's most used techniques and then surprising him with a new strategy, and most of Hakuho's wins come from just being so damn good at his defenses and turning any momentum into a weakness if Teru doesn't take that one thing into account. There's a reason their matches against each other take so much longer than some others. More than 10-15 seconds per bout? That's a really good match there.
Hakuho has the advantage in their head-to head, 8-4 but this will be the first time they have fought in over 4 years.
Also the most recent matches are advantage Terunofuji. The last two are of course when the knee was in the worst shape before surgery, but it looked like Terunofuji was figuring Hakuho out over the last few bouts.
8:5
There has been a pattern that has held pretty strong going 2 for Hakuho then 1 for Terunofuji, so if that holds true Terunofuji will win the next bout
@@TheTimeTraveller1907 9:4
@@TheTimeTraveller1907 Never underestimate the Goat...
nice compi!!! thank u so much for this! so hyped for 2021 july!
Hakkeyoi!!!
Great compilation!!!! Thank you x
I wonder if Terunofuji will remember that last shove from the previous match this Sunday
That was the one time I was really ticked off at Hakuho.
@@chonqmonk that really wasn't a big deal, may be hakuho thought terunofuji gave up the bout too easy and not quite happy about it. To me that was just sort of like come on little bro how dare u not give your 100%. If that was a cheap shot then u must not watched how they do during the interstable practice.
@@kennethclark1583 Teru's knees were so bad right then that Hakuho risked the man's entire future to give him a very dishonorable extra shove. It was total bullshit.
@@kennethclark1583 I agree with you Sir. People sometimes mis interpret Hakuho's actions. He REALLY IS CONCERNED WITH THE FUTURE OF SUMO and he has said that he sees himself as the wall that younger rikishes must climb. Just like how Asashoryu was Hakuho's wall.
A little but of so called bull shit
( hi Chonq ) is merely a TEACHING TOOL. But once in a while there occurs some angry shoving, I'll admit it. Not too much from Hakuho tho.
If you want to see some 'bull shit' aggressive moves go watch the old matches of ASASHORYU. Now THERE was fierce ness.
@@joannaedwards6325 exactly ma'am and that's a big part for making sumo so great to watch and adore. Not only we got the 15days long excitement every 2 months, but the joy oto learn every little bit of this 300+ years well-kept sports along the way as well. At some point most fans wil understand that a little shove in the chest from the Yokozuna and fellow countryman is indeed means nothing at all. To say that shove could've hurt anyone is just quite disrespectful for a 6'4 400lb beast 😑
Ohh that move tho on 14:22
Thanks for making this video... you are a saint!
These are some really incredible matches!
I am so excited, cheering and hoping Teru wins tomorrow. I know Hakuho is the GOAT of sumo and has made sumo exciting to watch. Thanks for sharing 👏👏👏
Great job and timely done - thank you Sir!
Thanks!
@@DonDonSumo so happy to have found you.
How many great moments has hakuho given us , to many to count.
Gosh this is exciting! The crowd makes it so fun when they react to a move! Collective sighs to cheers - lol! Makes for another great compilation video!
Thank you for the time you put into your work!
By the comments I read, I see I'm not alone!
Cheers and thank you again!
@Venancio Rodrigues those are actually envelopes and each one has a specific amount of money in it for each "bonus" he earned. In sumo, fighters can get bonuses for all different kinds of reasons and the bonuses a fighter earn after a victory are compiled throughout their entire adult career. So if they win a "most exciting match" bonus on their first ever fight, they'll get an envelope with a extra few hundred bucks for that fight and every fight they win for the rest of their career.
I'm very curious about the crowd throwing the cushions they sit on, though! It seems so disrespectful! Do they just wave down staff members and ask for their cushions back after the match?? Don't they get in any trouble?
@@Jake.The.Snake.
Oct. 28, 2021. Now most sumo auditoriums have nailed the cushions down. Can no longer be thrown. Don't think it was disrespectful. More like enthusiasm or "I can't believe THAT just happened!"

A great new channel has joined the group. Keep it up you are doing fantastic.
Just realized Terunofuji was the same age in their last fight as Hakuho was in their first fight 🤯
Whaaaaaat??? Such high quality too! You sir, just gotta new subscriber.

@@DonDonSumo My pleasure friend. Thanks for the awesome content. I've never seen many of these bouts (& others you've posted) from these camera angles, and the quality is full on HD. Just fantastic!
Let me say a big fat DITTO to Chonq Monk's comment. Keep 'em comin'.
Fantastic video! Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
The fact Teru was dominated by an old Hakuho just a few years ago yet seem utterly invincible right now says it all about the gulf of difference in abilities between good sumo wrestlers, Yokozuna, and the GOAT himself
this is actually pretty cool
Thank you for the compilation.
Ouah! Ils sont extraordinaires, j aime voir leurs matchs.
Can't stop watching, cool fights
I'm a noob to this sport I've only been following it for a year but watching these last three tournaments I think Hakuho will win. His sumo just seems more rounded and I think he's more aggressive and uses his Mobility better but anything could happen on the day.
P.s I'd rather Terunofuji won then he will have taken the baton of the master I think it will make future tournaments a lot more spicy and interesting!
Спасибо за подборку!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Hakuho and Terunofuji are great warriors

They are both Mongolians. Hakuho's name is Davaajargal (Даваажаргал), Terunofuji's name is (Ганэрдэнэ)
1:36 Definitely a “Not your time yet, son.” Moment.

These matches are all great. Sadly you can see Teru's knees breaking down. fron no wraps to full on braces.
Хакухо 👍
Nov. 2015 was such a long bout,
People could only acuse them of playing to the crowd.
Hakuho gave the win.
Only after the longest championship bout in history, did he LET the other man walk him out.
Then watch him twist the next three out the ring like they didn't have names.
He is a phenom

What was the reason for the do-over at 11:15?

Absolutely amazing compilation! All but one tachyi (sp?) Was two mountains colliding. Pardon my American slang but the end of this Basho (July 2021) is going to be bashing!

Gangster!!! this shots gangster!!!
Epic
TerenofuJis first win again*t big hakuho was a text book illistration on keeping the opponent off balanced with lots of small faints and changing of directions. Really impressive win
Мощь!!!
15:52 why did Hakuho push him like that, well after he was already out? Looks like bad sportsmanship.
In addition, he often resorted to slaps and elbow smashes, which are ill suited to yokozuna. He lacked grace and class to be called a great yokozuna. Teru has been quite the opposite as a yokozuna, and you wouldn't hesitate to call him a great yokozuna.
You can see a bit of why JSA has a problem with Hakuho in the last match. He just had to add that last push to Teru after he's already out of the ring; happened too often. Then there's that smug half smile you always see after he wins a close match, and when he lost one, you could sense him denying his opponent's skill and strength.
It's shocking what has happened to him recently, but apparently JSA doesn't like bullies.
What happened in match 9? I don't understand why they restarted.
0:25 look carefully, this is hakuho's skill of punching people with his right shoulder; he accelerates it so fast. terunofuji looks concussed after that
