Terao Tsunefumi's Best Finishes - Technique Breakdown
Terao Tsunefumi comes from a family deeply connected to sumo wrestling, with a lineage that includes his father, brothers Kakureizan and Sakahoko, all contributing to the sport's legacy. Terao Tsunefumi started his career at the age of 16, averaging just 115kg, he preferred oshi-sumo style, utilizing pushing and thrusting techniques to keep opponents away from his mawashi. He also relied on speed, agility, and rapid thrusts (tsuppari) to the chest, hence the nickname "The Eternal Typhoon". Hakkeyoi!

Chiyonofuji got his zensho-yusho (perfect victories) in some matches, he has 15-0 win record, in the last two years, most sumo tournaments in Tokyo (New Year's, Summer and Autumn) were held in the Kuramae Kokugikan, a sumo stadium, before moving to the new Ryugoku Kokugikan with the New Year's tourney in January 1985, but overall, a score of championships were given to Chiyonofuji, plus tournament wins and a score of matches played from the years 1982-88. But on the final day of Kyushu tourney in Fukuoka in November 1988, he was defeated by another yokozuna Onokuni, who got his championship.

The only guy to regularly beat Hakuho. His skills, techniques and attitude were second to none. That arching of the back vs Kotonowaka was unreal. Asashoryu is a one of a kind and perhaps one of the greatest sumo wrestlers of all time. He is a living legend and its a shame he was forced to retire. He was the sole reason why millions of new viewers watched sumo. So many memorable matches especially vs Hakuho - they were historic. Ive yet to see a rivalry like those two. Keep rockin it steady Asashoryu, you deserve much props and you will go down as my favorite of all time.
