    Fantastic review. The best I have seen on youtube for this projector. You showed perfectly the difference with the black levels on the review. . thanks

    They just releases firmware 1.3 if you haven't updated yet you should. This adds fast mode for gaming as well as more Dynamic Black options (now have off, low, and high instead of just off and on).

    Thank you for answering back my other comment. I actually thought the BenQ W5,800 was BenQ first Native 4K projector. BenQ LK970 uses a 0.66 DLP chip which is a Native 2K then pixel shifts it up to 4K image. The newer pixel shifters seem to be much better than the older. My Epson 6050 UB pixel shifter was not that great. When I bought my BenQ LK 970 I saw a great difference in picture quality over the Epson 6050UB especially if you were watching a 4K movie.

      Thanks I did ask why the 0.47 DMD was used and I should have put a little disclaimer in the video but that information came directly from them when the question was asked as I was sure it would be on the top of people's minds. But seeing side by side with a true native 4K projector with rather high lens quality as well. Nor could others in the room, and oddly the w 5800 was sharper. 🤔🤷🏽

    I actually sold my BenQ v7050i for a JVC RS1000. At my viewing distance you can tell the smaller pixels on the JVC but the BENQ is a single panel display so it looked very sharp. But I just love the contrast and black levels of the JVC. But I have a soft spot in my heart for Benq DLP projectors.

    • @gameroomtheater
      @gameroomtheater  Před měsícem +1

      Nice hard to overlook but with the mixed content I watch in the theater, the w5800 won out. Dark movies like Batman, A Quiet Place, etc it's definitely a vast difference in favor of the jvc

  • @DIGGERS881

    DLP contrast leaves a lot to be desired. It may look great in bright scenes but the JVC kills it in dark scenes. Elevated blacks are so distracting. I’ll take a hit to sharpness for contrast.

  • @TheaterAtReference
    @TheaterAtReference Před měsícem

    Thanks for your take. I personally have always preferred the DLP pop, razor sharp image and natural colors compared to LCOS or LCD panels.
    Im considering this particular BenQ. In dark dark scenes did the "greyish" blacks bother you was it distracting?

    • @gameroomtheater
      @gameroomtheater  Před měsícem

      @@TheaterAtReference it definitely bothered me when I did the split screen with the JVC in surprisingly some dark scenes, but oddly not all scenes. I do have dynamic black on and local contrast enhancers off. It appears Dynamic black does a great job without crushing the shades. I've had many many dedicated home theater projectors in the past and definitely could not get used to the Grays from DLPs but this one was definitely different.
