    Can this sight be used on a barrel that is absent of a bead?

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued Před 11 měsíci

      Yes, if it's a round barrel, you can!! Now, is there a hole in the barrel for a bead?? if not, the Gunsmith can drill and Tap the barrel to put the included bead for the mount.

    I've put a couple of these on Remington 870 barrels and it's a great improvement but what I'm wondering is how do I remove them when the tritium gets old in about ten to twelve years?

      A heat gun will break down JB Weld. After removing the sight use rubbing alcohol and a wire brush to remove the JB Weld residue. Then install a new sight.

    Hey guys, looking to get one of these for my 870 12.5” barrel. It has a bead but shoots very high, I’m thinking this taller sight would bring down the poi. Can you tell me how tall this xs sight is? Appreciate it. Thank you.

      I would reach out to XS about that, I don't know how high the 870 sights are, I don't have a set.

    JB Weld and other modern 2-part epoxy’s changed the game on parts of our gunsmithing world that’s for sure! No more silver braising! Looks good Yamil! Would love to go learn some smithing from Marty as he knows/does a lot of it that I don’t do myself do to not enough experience in those realms to tooling etc, but family circumstances would prevent leaving the area. At any rate, he seems like a great smith that puts the work above everything else, as all of us should do; but sadly they don’t! Can’t wait to see any follow ups! Take cere Yamil!

      @@yrsued yeah the majority of my smithing experience and training is military related. Went to GM (gunners mate) A school and learned how to work on a range of military small arms from M9’s/870’s and AR15’s to 240B and .50cal machine guns, as well as larger weapons systems. All the other guns I’ve worked on I learned on my own since I was much younger and working on friends/family’s guns. Always been interested in 1911 work and revolvers. I’ve done some work with trigger jobs and hand fitting, but nothing like learning hands on!
      I always love the videos you have when you’re at Enloe Customs with Marty! Lol so yeah, would love to see ya do more videos with Marty actually doing some smithing! I know it’s hard with CommieTubes fascist laws, but one can hope! Hope the fam is doin good! Thanks Yamil!

      @@KendrasEdge757 That is a GREAT Start for Gunsmithing. Military Armorers learn the basic functioning of the guns, how the parts go together and how to diagnose problems. The Custom guys in the military, like the USMC 2112's in Quantico, they learn how to make guns BETTER!! Like KC Crawford!! He's a master!!
      Civilian Custom Smiths are there to create unique guns, they take it several steps above that!!

    • @KendrasEdge757
      @KendrasEdge757 Před 3 lety +1

      @@yrsued yeah we learn how they work, how to KEEP them working, and how to repair them when they break. As well as how to order parts and clean, clean, clean lol and some of us, learn how to be SAI’s, small arms instructors too. Of course you can go further into it on the military marksmanship units as well, but that wasn’t me. A lot of great civilian smiths as well for sure. Most of the gunsmith “schools” that are mail-based or internet based are garbage ripping people off and that always upsets me when I see their commercials. There’s some great hands on schools though that put out some phenomenal smiths and bring in some to help instruct.
