That was actually not the best way to remove those bead sights. A 4mm box wrench would be better and a 4mm socket wrench would be best. Put some tape around the barrel and you will be sure not to add scratches to your barrel. Also, I would not recommend using alcohol to clean a firearm.

@Neutron Performance, Intl Right, because it's much easier to put more shells in a side saddle than to just pull off a card and slap on a new one already loaded with shells. I just replaced mine today on my M590 Retrograde (6-shot 18.5 inch). Primarily, the original bead has a base on it that doesn't allow the XS sight to fit flush on the barrel. Plus, the stock bead isn't profiled real aggressively. The aftermarket bead they include in the kit is profiled in such a way to allow for a better bond with the JB weld inside the pocket that was milled into the base of the XS sight. You fill it full of JB weld, and the bead fits into it where 90% of the bond occurs. Nice KTM BTW. I sold my 1290 SAS to free up funds for a down payment on a new truck. jk lol Unless you don’t plan to ever remove what you are using Loctite on it is better to use blue Loctite. If you have to remove something where red Loctite is used then you need to heat it up with a torch first to about 600° to loosen the Loctite. It’s generally not the best idea to red Loctite or epoxy a tritium sight since you know in about 10 years or so you will have to replace it. It’s a better idea to have a tritium sight that threads in where the brass bead was and lock it with blue Loctite so you can take it off easier or if you have a tritium sight that mounts to the barrel it is better to silver solder it so you can take it off easier. It is probably a gunsmith job when it comes to removing a epoxied or soldered sight anyway but it’s much easier and reliable to use silver solder. Epoxy can loosen up over time while solder wont and removing excess epoxy is a pain.
I figure if the tritium is dead/being replaced, there is no harm in torching the thing to liquefy the red loctite (in the past even a lighter has worked, I usually red loctite low profile gas block screws). Best way to do it would be with a longer grill lighter so you can heat the bead threads from inside the barrel directly. Basically red loctite is fine as long as heat/fire won't ruin anything. Once you use red loctite on a tritium sight it isn't coming off until the tritium is dead (You are going to ruin the sight with heat otherwise) This is assuming you used a very light application (apply it with the tip of a toothpick for example) As for the epoxy I hear it doesn't do too well in the cold. You can probably get the temp below zero with some dry ice to break the bond.
