    Love the update videos. It’s really helpful to see how a product does over a period of time. By the way, the S4 deserves a little more love…I had a B8.5 just like yours except white and it was a 2014. It was a fun and totally trouble free car for 5 years. I made the mistake of replacing it with a C63 that turned out to be a lemon, I still miss that car.

      I have had mine for 7 years. Third brake light flicker fixed for $80 and ac pressure switch fixed for $90. Only issues. It's truly a incredible daily driver.
      I just get to drive ridiculous cars nowadays and I'm around hypercars and supercars all day long so it just can't do it for me anymore lol. I'm still totally in love with our C7 S6 though.

    I really like to use wet coat on my daily driver with Mohs Evo. Cure and Ceramic Detailer are nice products, but for the daily runabout, I want to spend as little time as possible, and Wet Coat is just perfect for finishing off the biweekly 10 min quick wash - especially as it can be used on all surfaces.

    I personally think that beading is not as important as sheeting. That’s why I personally use kamikaze collection coatings and apex metal oxide. I would recommend if you want something with crazy value and perforce try out apex metal oxide coating as You can choose if the coating sheets or beads. Plus it’s an extremely easy application.

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Před 2 lety

      Great comment. Sheeting and beading are both great traits and definitely both important. Mohs will sheet water easily if I use a steady flow of water from a garden hose for example.
      In general beading tends to be more helpful to keep a car cleaner longer. Sheeting tends to help more during the wash process. Not notable and important tho

    Your description says B9 this is a B8.5
    Also you said you put MOHS & SYNCRO this is also incorrect. You put MOHS & SKIN paired together called SYNCRO. So you applied SYNCRO to the car.

      I have been looking at b9 rs5 sportbacks for awhile so I probably had that on my mind haha.
      Fixed it! I do indeed have a b8.5 s4 and C7 S6🙂
      We are both right on the second one. As syncro is mohs plus skin. So they are interchangeable. I used a syncro kit on the 488 and part of my s4 and a mohs kit on the rest of my car.

      Yea no thanks. Not a bead maker guy and I don't recommend you use synthetic sealant on your interior.
      More importantly this car is crazy hydrophobic and you don't want synthetic sealant as a topper over a real ceramic coating. That's why we have stuff like cure or reload or Hydro or wetcoat. They are ceramic-based sealants in there designed to bond the ceramic base coatings.

    Love this video, you think Skin is worth it or not much of a difference to you? Any hydrophobic differences?

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Před 2 lety +1

      It's a good question. Currently I think it all looks the same. But in a few months maybe the back will prove to be more hydrophobic.
      I felt it took some slickness away after install. Like mohs felt slick. But skin goes in kinda grabby and made it feel less slick. That's not necessarily uncommon for a topper and as you saw for the back it beads great. So feel doesn't matter much if it performs.

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Před 2 lety +2

      If it keeps performing well I'd consider trying mohs Evo with potentially exo topper on the RS5 whenever that comes along.
      Syncro includes Skin. Essentially EXO. Not seeing much of a difference from the skin section to the mohs only sections. It doesn't mean it's not performing as it should tho.
      Either way it's performing well so far. No complaints besides the less than ideal install.

    Hello, can you use Mohs evo on glass, trim, headlights, and taillights? I don’t want to buy separate products for those areas cause that will cost too much. Thank you

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Před 2 lety +2

      I would assume you can use it on any kind of gloss trim rubber trim would probably work but I can't guarantee it headlights and tail lights yes for sure. I'm not sure if it'll bond a glass but I would assume it probably would but I would also assume that dedicated glass coating will work better than mos Evo on glass.
      My go-to ceramic coating is Gtechniq crystal serum light. I can tell you from experience that works on everything but I'm glass it doesn't have very good durability.
      I would check out g on quick view or fly by 30 for glass both are pretty reasonably priced.
      You can also buy something like Gyeon wetcoat And apply it every wash because it literally takes 2 seconds. That works and everything and if anything it works best on glass

      @@STATUSDETAIL Thanks for the detailed response! I was already using wet coat so I’ll continue to use that for the glass and maintaining the coating. One more thing, can I get away with using 30ml for 2 coats on my 2020 Honda Civic? It’s 183’’ in length

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Před 2 lety +1

      @@henrytran1187 I'd say it's possible to do two coats. I do your first coat thinner to make sure you don't run out. I did two coats with a 50 ml bottle on an S4 and came pretty close to running out but I was putting it on pretty heavy

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X Před 2 lety +1

      I was told directly by Gyeon to keep it off plastics and rubber. Wipe your trim bits and lights down with CanCoat once a year. Takes next to no time.
      For glass, seen too many issues with visual defects when paint coatings have been used. Just use something that was designed for it and maintain it with a product like wet coat or ceramic detailer after a wash. I mean, a product like Gyeon QuickView or View is not that expensive, so why mess about with half measures?

    We always rinse the foam down before using a wash pad or mitt as we want to avoid swirls as we would be rubbing dirt around the panel, anyway does skin change the water behaviour compared to just using the ceramic coating on its own ?

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Před 2 lety +1

      Skin is supposed to make better contact angle and generally be more hydrophobic. So far I see no difference. I do assume/hope the skin section will last longer. It's all pretty good honestly.
      Technically rinsing then a pre foam then rinse that then foam. Again and wash.
      Just about all the heavy stuff comes off in rinse when it's this hydrophobic. But I have since done a wash that definitely wasn't perfect on purpose. Our customers Definitely don't wash perfectly every time lol. So real world testing means a a control of a good wash or two that is fast. I'm not doing anything ridiculous but definitely went fast.

      @M.E63 Před 2 lety

      @@STATUSDETAIL I seen videos of evo mohs alone and it looks very hydrophobic , I am going to buy it I think but don’t know wether to get the skin aswell
      what’s the installation like for mohs and skin , are they both easy to apply or is one harder to apply ?
      Also the Gyeon cure , I didn’t want to apply that as I presume that will make it less hydrophobic and mask some of the beading , what do you think about the cure ?

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Před 2 lety

      @@M.E63 Definitely don't put cure on if mohs is going on soon. If you're going to polish before mohs That doesn't really matter what you do now. The whole point of this series is to test both. So honestly I really don't know if it's worth it or what's better but I can't tell you that so far both are performing very very well.
      My first video in the series about Mohs talks a lot about the install. The fast version is I'm not a huge fan. You have to work very small areas because the product will flash off the panel very quickly so you have to do a hood and like 8 to 10 sections. Gtech ceramic allows you to do full panels. So far I would say mohs does perform very well so the install is a little irritating but it is performing well. Just definitely don't apply in large sections or you will have issues for sure
      You can buy it from statusdetailstore.com

    • @M.E63
      @M.E63 Před 2 lety +1

      @@STATUSDETAIL thanks I will be polishing first but I wasn’t sure wether to put cure on top of mohs as I think it will mask the coatings true behaviour and I did watch a video and they said applying gyeon skin on top of mohs will reduce the slickness but skin adds gloss , my car is new and is already glossy and I’d rather have the slickness so really confused wether to get the one with skin and wether to add cure as well

    • @STATUSDETAIL
      @STATUSDETAIL  Před 2 lety

      @@M.E63 I see now. I would say you can always top any ceramic coating with cure directly after in my opinion cure is very glossy and slick and hydrophobic so there's really no drawback on that one. It's also going to help protect the ceramic underneath for that first 7 days because that's pretty crucial.
      I see what you mean about skin as well. Skin definitely goes on and comes back off making mohs base coat A little less slick feeling. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's enough to bother me like in my opinion I would still dual layer. I like the two coats for serviceability in the future when I might need to do a small fast polish and then reapply something like skin or EXO.
      I also think in that situation if you put cure directly back over skin it will give you the slickness you're looking for back. I think that feeling that people are talking about and that I mentioned as well for skin is most noticeable directly after install but probably not as noticeable 3 months or 6 months or 9 months down the line
      Having said all that mohs by itself is definitely very slick.
      The dark horse option is to put mohs on the car and top it with EXO in my opinion EXO is pretty slick when applied correctly and has all the wonderful characteristics of the topper.
