This is an exclusive scene from our upcoming documentary, 'This Place Rules,' which premieres on HBO Max on December 30, 2022. Shout out to HBO for letting us post this, this scene means a lot to us.
This is honestly so deeply depressing. Robbing their children of their childhood because of the insane obsession that they have with their own paranoid fantasy. That's so fucked.
isn't it a similar thing to more liberal parents trying to convince their child to be gay/lesbian/trans and dress them in clothes meant for the opposite gender when they don't want to? (not saying they all do this, obviously, but there is documentation of it. for example, a writer for Put This On was found to have been making his very young son to wear dresses and other clothes meant for girls, which his son didn't want to do.)
@@kinghassy334 Sure, but at some point you have to be able to hold them responsible for the harm they are actively causing. They've been tricked, too, but they're adults and their non-existent critical thinking skills are destroying the lives of their children. Plenty of people who have done bad things were manipulated into doing so by worse people, but that's an excuse that can only go so far. These people have the ability to work their way out of this mindset, but they don't want to. I used to buy into this type of conspiratorial pizzagate style nonsense when I was younger. Getting out of it was frankly a painful process, but it can be done and I am better for it.
Im not defending Q shit, but this could be a video of lunatic left parents during covid and seeing kids masked (ruining their development) would be the only difference. The fact all the msm and sheep on the left all marched in lockstep is just a bigger instance of Q phenomenon. Mass delusion. A warped "safety" focused view of reality this 2 years! That did far more harm to society than sweden approach for example.
As a teacher this part was heartbreaking to watch. You can tell the kid is actually very smart, he also loves and trusts his family 100% which is why he's like this. In the movie when he realizes that Q was wrong you can tell his entire worldview was shattered and he lost a lot of trust for his dad who he wishes spent less time "alone in the yard watching Q." You can always tell with kids like this that when he's in his late teens he's either going to cope and double down on fringe politics or he's going to realize what his family did to him and likely take a big step back from them. Those are the kids who end up leftists who moved across the country for school and never look back.
Teaching your kids to distrust outsiders is good. Telling them specific narratives (that don't make sense or will fade away) undermines that distrust. I hope this dude can maintain his level of distrust while also not believing everything his parents tell him.
These parents are INSANE. I thought my mom was crazy when she was still alive & I always thought it was unfair being raised by her but when I see parents like this I understand my mom was just a regular old school single mother who cut the short shit short & didn’t let any outsiders influence her style of parenting. I’m so blessed
They will naturally start to question their parents one day. That happens to almost everyone when growing up. You go through a faze where you think more than your parents. In some cases like this one its going to end up being true.
lol this is so staged its laughable... you cant be this stupid.. "kids need to be back in school" "blood sucking aliens"... damn if you cant see through this and you aint under 18 your beyond help.... wow didnt realise people were falling for this level pf propaganda.. is that what you think anti lock down/anti vaxers believe?
I see a lot of Louis Theroux in him , have you have seen the interview/documentary about the nazi family’s that Louis did this gives me the exact same vibes, Louis and Andrew are the goats of journalism
Whats powerful is that he gives no reactions yet him and his team are very likable and approachable. The fact he is able to let the kids speak there mind and also just goof off with them moments later is a huge skill most reporters just dont have.
@@jackorourke1684 even the way they portray everything is very unbiased. There is no b-roll footage with him condemning the parents. No tragic music. Just the family talking, and him listening.
Man, this one just hurts. Kids need to have their innocence preserved, they should never be dragged into something this extreme. I hope when they grow up, they aren't affected too greatly by this.
I can't believe nobody in this comment section has said this should be illegal. Only in America. Those parents should be charged for causing severe phsycological damage to these kids. Completely destroying their lives. Not going to school as well. Here in Sweden that's illegal.
therapists have to get paid somehow. but i think these kids will be kept so entrenched, and by some ill twist of life, they'll eventually stay in voluntarily
@@TrumpForPrison2023 "Only in America", never has a more true statement been said. It should definitely be illegal. The issue for the parents is that it would only solidify their beliefs even more. They may see it as their children being taken to be "molested"/eaten or something like that, and going to prison would just be a way for them to not tell more people the truth. It's such a shitty reality, I don't think them or their kids will ever truly get out of it.
@@TheGingerMale See that is the trick. Now you're advocating for letting the government come into your home and control how you raise your kids. That seems great if it stops kids from being raised like this. But our leaders change. And next year they could come in and say that raising your kids as an atheist is illegal, or restricting their internet usage is illegal, or allowing them on the internet is illegal. The most we can do is have a school request a psychologist visit but these parents would never allow that. Maybe a court would allow it but these parents would run and hide from the court.
As someone who grew up in an Infowars household in the early 2010s, this is the hardest to watch clip I've ever seen from Channel 5. Thank you for documenting this Andrew.
the way you show the juxtaposition between Jaden repeating his parents' vitriol and then playing Beyblades and being a kid is insane. very reminiscent of Jesus Camp, the documentary showing children involved in the Church. another banger from Andrew from Channel 5.
I thought I recognized one of the kids from somewhere, and it's Jesus camp, obviously not the same kids, but it's wild how that's still repeating itself
It's not 'showing' juxtaposition. It's just juxtaposing. The way you put it is redundant. Don't be so eager to seem smart and use a word when you don't know how to use it.
@@baueretro7423I’m 16 in public schooling in Colorado and I can tell you as a fact that they never once told us shit about being woke or trans being better or whatever you think is going on. The closest they’ve ever come to that is saying that you should respect other people regardless of your beliefs. They never tell you that you should be like other people or that you should like other people, they just say you should respect them. That’s not indoctrination whatsoever, and the part of Colorado I live in is very blue so if it were happening it would happen here.
I was genuinely impressed the kid realises by the end of the film that Q was basically just a lie and his dad got suckered in. Incredibly clever kid to be able to see through the bullshit whilst his parents are still going along with it
When the hell did you get this idea in your head ? Please point out to me the time in the video that your speaking about where the kids realize it’s all a lie. They never gave off any of that feeling. Where did u get that from?
Yeah, this is one smart kid, and I honestly think he'll be alright despite his kooky parents. When Andrew asked him "what do you think was the point of all that", he answered "I don't think there was a point." very matter-of-factly. he was composed even after he realized Q was all a bunch of bullshit, which I think is a good sign

If you haven't seen the doc, I don't want to spoil it, but good news: this family seemed to wise up after "The Storm" never happened. The dad even seems ashamed of it, or at least embarrassed that his adolescent son now thinks he got duped by internet trolls.
I know plenty of people who are not great spellers, so I try not to equate intelligence with spelling ability (or powers of observation) but man is it tempting.
It's quite sad actually. Really goes to show how far off in the deep end they are; to the point of not saving. They will literally see their side make genuine mistakes and just dismiss it has some cryptic or deeper message.
Being forced to grow up isolated and being told everyone is against you from that age sounds so incredibly traumatic. Makes me very grateful for my upbringing.
Yes, I wonder if these kids will ever have the chance to be "normal" or if these years of brainwashing in the most crucial part of their development will have everlasting effects on their personality. At that age politics was not topic in our houshold at least not when we kids were around. And later we had a very open relationship to poltics without indoctrination. It surely helped, that my parents are on different parts of the poltical spectrum (father is a moderate leftist and mother is a moderate conservative). We learned to form our own opinions about politics.
@@StAngerNo1 Yes, I also grew up without being specifically taught any politics. Surely, it's unavoidable that your subconscious beliefs get passed on to children. But the parents here are so deliberate. Just having the kids go out into public to say these things is awful. They're bringing the social consequences and burdens of their own toxic mindset on their kids! The local parents and kids definitely know "that family" that's always standing on the road and shouting. These kids will forever be singled out with this reputation. It's unbelievably sad!
@@SkyeD.Hikaru I agree with you that this child's parents should not have coaxed him into this rabbit hole of misinformation and nonsensical conspiracies, but I would not lay blame solely on the parents. Lots of developed countries had had been either neglecting or struggling to prepare younger generations to detect bullshit on the Internet and other avenues where they can access information. Education is a key aspect of this issue here. For the past few decades, the United States have divested in the quality of education, especially for the state of Georgia where this boy's family lives. All this divesting and privatizing education have had dire consequences for the American public's ability to think critically, and this all came at a really bad time when the smartphone came along in the very late 00s' and early 2010s just after Obama's election and when the ultra wealthy can spend unlimited amounts in shoring up support for a candidate via checks and covert think tanks online. At the end of the day, a democracy is as good as a people's ability to think for themselves but also their willingness to participate in the process in a way that generates positive change for their societies.
@@solitarycrow Once again, I agree. For America being as wealthy as it is, the education as a whole is piss poor! I was very fortunate to live in a state that prioritized education. But just go across state lines and I know kids that have been using the same textbooks since the 90s. My school offered 8 language, but I have friends that weren’t even offered Spanish! The disparity is so visible. It lessens peoples worldview as a whole and I think that allows them to fall so easily down these echo chambers. Truly a sad state America is in.
Many cults are like this... edit: what I want to say: you can see what it did to the children growing up in this kind of environment from these other cults. It's probably rarely the same expirience for example in JW they tell children they have to convert other children in the school and that makes them to constant outsiders. But honestly, growing up in cultish environment is just sad for children.
Hell yeah, you can tell even in this clip that he is good at heart. Immediately says he misses school, and even instantly reassures his younger sister that she has friends. Haven't seen the movie but I'm glad there's a happy ending for this family. This clip had me depressed lol.
That's the worst part. They are clearly bright and passionate but are fed a very skewed idea of reality. Luckily this does give me hope that they'll use that intelligence to eventually leave.
The moment where the kids, Andrew, and camera guys are all playing together normally just hurts my heart. These kids deserve sweet little NORMAL moments like that every day
This is so wrong, this family is the representation of the damage that can be caused by a simple internet connection. The short and long term effects of parental choices here are terrifying.
As retarded as this family is i couldn’t help but to find irony in the way was talking about not returning to school because of the virus. Libs kids are either terrified to walk outside or they feel safe behind a dirty mask. Both are pathetic
@@wikkidize Dude, leave the trans kids alone. They want to be themselves. Shit doesn't happen overnight. Trans kids go through years of therapy, before parents even allow their kids to use hormone blockers. Overall it goes down to the kids mental well being and happiness.

This had me sobbing, it reminds me of being raised in a conservative household and having these ideals put in my head and believing them whole heartedly, when I was just a kid who didn’t know any better than what my parents told me.
And what ideals were so horrible? Before you go with the easy words-- racism, transphobic etc. Can you at least please explain what actual conservative values are so bad? I'm the opposite I was raised as a liberal. I blindly supported liberal things. Now as an adult I'm realizing that I'm more conservative. And the reason I said the race stuff is because we get it from the other side. I was taught that the "white man" is keeping me down. And it's not true! It's always been my decisions and choices -- ALWAYS!
@@NeverGoFullRetard415 it was the blind support of everything they ever saw on Fox News and Facebook, calling black people monkeys, remembering my mom told me Obama was a terrorist and that Michelle Obama was a man, their judgement and hatred of others, even just strangers walking down the street made me think that everyone felt the same way about me so I have developed agoraphobia and bad anxiety about what other are thinking about me, especially them. In kindergarten we had a fake election for the school and I was the only child who knew who the candidates were because of my parents. I voted for McCain, I said my reason was because Obama was a “Muslim n-word” because that was my parents reasoning when they’d explain why they were voting for McCain and I was almost expelled. Racism is not an “easy” thing, I’m not sure why you would say something like that. There’s a reason the Republican Party is known for racism and bigotry, because that’s what most of their values reflect and result in, it’s a hard truth to swallow especially if you vote for them. When I was a child they explained to me that Obama was going to end the world so they bought an entire prepper pantry full of rationed food and equipment for the basement, I believed myself and everyone around me was going to die fairly soon because of this and I had to be put on antidepressants and anxiety medication when I was 9 years old. When I was 12 I remember explaining to my mom that I hated my nose, my mother told me that it was a n****r nose and that we could have it fixed someday hopefully. Its disgusting. I’ve seen first hand the hatred and ignorance that has come from my parents political affiliation, I know why they do it, they were both raised with those beliefs and are hardened in their stances. I haven’t even touched on things like homophobia, or how they have two daughters who want to have children someday but couldn’t give two shits about abortion rights, or the fear I feel when I bring my dark skinned Asian boyfriend around them. I was a hateful person up until I was the age 13 and realized that I didn’t want to be that kind of person anymore. I shut my eyes and wince every time I think about who I was and how I acted as a child, I wish I could change it sometimes, but it turned me into the person I am today. I don’t want to judge people on the basis of their race, or sexuality, or presentation, they literally don’t affect me or anyone why would anyone care about that stuff? I could go on for hours about the first hand experiences with my parents and their political beliefs, but I’m not sure that you would listen based on your response to my comment.
Yup, same, except from someone older than his parents... and sadly someone I did have fond memories of playing beyblades with growing up. The detachment from reality is concerning, just play video games to escape reality like everyone else!

Two of my closest friends (who turned out to be Q anoners due to their dumb parents getting deeply involved in it) were homeschooled for similar reasons - their parents thought they knew best. My friends when I first met them had almost no social skills, racist vibes, and thought they were unbelievably smart because "they were homeschooled" yet failed or scraped through our university tests. They had no friends growing up. Personally I think the poor "I know best, the school system is corrupt" homeschooling attempt robbed them of a good normal childhood and also resulted in them lacking substantially academically and socially. Once all this Q anon stuff came out they were instantly hooked - they quit their jobs and university (one only had 8 months till graduation) to go to dumb rallies with their unhinged parents. This stuff is extremely life destroying, people who are vulnerable basically lose their lives to it and become just another regurgitator of what they hear in their echo chamber. It's messed up - these groups also target lonely people too as there's a strong sense of belonging and being apart of a group. It also targets lower IQ people as it gives them something that makes them feel more intelligent than everyone around them, with the whole "I know the real truth" angle. This crap literally spreads like a v1rus, which I find ironic. Sure is sad. The last time I hung out with them at their house (in the middle of nowhere) they were cursing all the classic Qanon targets, screeching like maniacs about what they'd do if they ever saw them. What's more moronic is that we are New Zealanders, not even American lol. They have "5G blocking" Pyramids made out of random crystals all around their house, one in the living room is easily 30cm high. I feel like we would learn a lot more in the long run by actually taking the time to just listen to each other. It's kinda sad that we've reached a point were we are so divided that we can barely engage in a discussion without shouting slurs and dumb comebacks at eachother. Ever see a news report or an interview from the 70s? That's what i want, and i think that's why i love this channel so much. Even if i disagree with these people like there is no tomorrow, these reports allow me to understand them and see them for who they are. These aren't bad people, but just people trying their best while engaging in their own truth. It's easy to forget this when engaing in mainstream media of any kind. The media of today pits these truths against eachother to create their own armies of loyal followers even though it ultimately leads to the alienation of the people you love.
It's honestly really interesting. They START from a healthy mindset of rational skepticism. Questioning everything is 100% A-OK. The problem arises when the conclusion you come to is completely baseless, fits a narrative that is tailored to your personal biases, and has mountains of counter evidence that you ignore at face value... It truly is spectacular to witness someone have a skeptical epistemology, then find the most absurd explanation for something, and somehow not have an ounce of skepticism left to question those conclusions.
An important part of questioning everything which they seem blind to is questioning themselves and their own method of coming to the truth. In their defense, though, not many people do this and ARE in fact mislead by not questioning mainstream information.
No, it's not rational skepticism even from the start. Their frame of thought is not logical. These people get into conspiracies because they have pathological issues.

The remarkable thing here, and I really can't emphasize this enough, is the extent to which these people seem to be a clearly loving and well-adjusted family. Just because they have biological bonds with their kids do not make them good people. They're lucid enough to realize how insane and sick they sound. Maybe it's the way it ended, maybe it's the stressful holiday times and a crappy week, but I legitimately felt a little heartbroken at the ending moments of this. This is the reporting that we would NEVER see if it wasn’t for Andrew. Also, it’s easy to laugh at Q for being so absurd but hearing those kids talk about missing their friends is one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen
Tragic parenting. I am amazed at how articulate and, in a weird way, mature the oldest son is. Well, that’s a little hyperbolic. I wouldn’t worry about him being okay with killing people because he thinks they’re “robots with alien blood”, it’s more that he thinks they’re pure, irredeemable evil. Which is actually true for politicians on both sides of the spectrum.
nah the juxtaposition was pretty standard. you see it a lot in those psychological hentai comics. even western media has a bunch of it. it's been around for like 20+ years. we really need to get over this "oh wow this is so profound" phase. hitler was human. we are all morally lucky. you are no different than "them". fucking get over it. the human condition is all just gay ass nerd shit.

At that age politics was not topic in our houshold at least not when we kids were around. And later we had a very open relationship to poltics without indoctrination.

Honestly, I wouldn't have the patience to listen to this day in and day out. But, I have a lot of respect for real journalists like this who are willing to lay down their own emotions and just listen.
In their defense, though, not many people do this and ARE in fact mislead by not questioning mainstream information.
its all to justify their belief that the battle of god vs. satan is real. i've met enough them to know thats the underlying bias they hold.

No, it's not rational skepticism even from the start. Their frame of thought is not logical. These people get into conspiracies because they have pathological issues.

The remarkable thing here, and I really can't emphasize this enough, is the extent to which these people seem to be a clearly loving and well-adjusted family. That's the true power of organized and persistent misinformation. So many people feel that they are far too rational or balanced to ever be taken in. They reassure themselves day by day that only the deranged, derelict and hateful fall into these traps. Yet here is the truth that we must all bear in mind. Many of the people who fall prey to this paranoia are well-intentioned and have good hearts. That's the pernicious and invidious cost of propaganda. It turns normal, empathetic people into slaves.
🙌🏼
Just because they have biological bonds with their kids do not make them good people. They're lucid enough to realize how insane and sick they sound. They choose not to because they want a reality where they don't have to challenge or change themselves in any way. They want to believe in a conspiracy that renders them helpless at the hand of an organised kabal waiting for a Messiah to save them from their own inability to understand the world or act in it. Their sickness is American Christianity tuned to a political fiddle. These people would kill you and me if they thought we were part of the satanist pedophiles they see in every shadow. They are not good people. These are people who choose to be sick because the alternative is admitting they were wrong.
That's so true, I definitely expected them to be junkies or something, they don't seem to be
Nothing about what the children are saying in this family is "well-adjusted." That is not casual, age-appropriate children conversation topics.
