Especially with SA violations because of the vast amount of laws that specifically apply to them and often for life that aren't crimes for anyone else and do not point to an intent to re-offend. Such as laws that prohibited loitering within 2000 feet of any building that minors frequent. That could be 2000 feet through the woods on a completely different road. Loitering is being on a property without official business, like eating lunch in their car. All of those laws are felonies and in some states carry higher class than the original offense if it was lower class felony or even a misdemeanor SA. If a zealous DA wants to push... and of course many do. In some states and counties it's extremely difficult for them to NOT go back. When an non-compliance charge is given an SA is almost always going with a bench trial in hopes they get a judge that isn't zealous. A jury is more likely to vote guilty, of course.
All of that is to say that including those charges in any metric is extremely disingenuous. Not that you did. Of course those laws are good for public safety but they aren't always used appropriately. Trust me when I tell you many in judges and others in criminal law understand this well and it's one reason for relaxed sentences.

And he definitely is a serial killer: Abduction, attempted assault and probable attempted murder of a woman in 1990, then he eventually gets the chance to do it to completion in 2016? there is no way he waited 26 years to do it again, and there is every probability that the 1990 case wasn't his first try.

I’m from Toledo and might I say this case was huge. There are still memorials every year, there’s a marathon in her name, and you see billboards of the foundation made in her name all over the place. Just shows what a case like this can do to a town, and to think of all the other cases from around the country that have left towns in shock for decades.
I live in Ohio as well. I don't really remember this case, but that guy does look familiar. Another case that sticks out is the Richard Beasley case. He's on Death Row as well.

When he was telling them he was a mechanic and the female detective says Oh wow! And he immediately responded Don't oh wow me! He was extremely aggressive in his response and it was completely uncalled for. She was impressed and he immediately took it as an insult. He clearly has a deep hatred towards women.

thank goodness for the new law, but its tragically too late and came at Sierahs expense. Sex offenders should NEVER get a second chance, NEVER. The problem was, he didnt get on the register because he didnt get the chance to sexually assault the 1990 victim, but its so obvious that this was his motive; any abduction of a female or child is almost always sexually motivated, especially if its a stranger abduction. These men cannot be rehabilitated. They just cant.

The alarm bells ringing when the female detective only said wow and he immediately became upset. From the clips i heard anytime that female detective said anything its like his demeanor switched up so intensely. There was hostility and anger towards her or her being a woman.

That immediately made my hackles rise. Not purely due to the blatant disrespect, but the level of unwarranted anger out of nowhere, and specifically only at the woman. Clearly he has issues with women. His pride shows in the way that he talks about his bikes and working on them--emphasizing that he's a 'master'--and something about her reacting triggered him hard. Either a woman has sarcastically complimented or outright put him down for his mechanical skills, or a woman being impressed--even passingly and politely, like this--inspires disdain, as he does not even /want/ affirmation from her, like it taints his achievement to have any approval. There was also the part where he offered to let them search the property, but he didn't want 'that bitch with her fucking dog'...
I think her faux interest really became obvious at that point with the "wow" and his nervous aggression at it boiled over.

What is scary is due to that sign (43:45), he’s likely already uploaded videos of the girl or girls , in numerous outfits and uploaded them somewhere. This case shook me more than many others I have seen because of their pain living on indefinitely on the internet…

The EXACT same thought crossed my mind. He was arrogant and disrespectful to the female officer and that's a pretty good indicator of how he looks at women. He's pathetic and I hope he suffers, IMMENSELY, for the rest of his life. My heart breaks for his victims and the people who love them.... he should have been given much more than two years for the first abduction, if that were the case she may still be alive. The justice system definitely tanked on this one.

Yes, really, “you’re gonna wow me lady.” I was itchy with anxiety. He reminds me of a few guys I knew in the 70s. I was about 12. They’d be proud of an achievement but knew showing off was somehow bad & would put on an ‘annoyed’ performance or get angry at anyone who’d recognise an accomplishment. You’d get flung back & around trying to say or do the right thing. It was exhausting. I don’t think anyone of those people were killers. 🤨😑They upset their mothers, though, that’s for sure. 🙃

There’s a few things that they found at the barn they didn’t mention in this documentary. One of them was that when they found the buried freezer breathing holes had been drilled into it, so they knew immediately that it was used to keep a person in. Also, when they found Sierah’s body they found it not too far from where they originally discovered her bike had gone into the cornfield. They think she’d been riding down the road and he spotted her from a distance away and hid just out of sight, in the cornfield. And when she rode by him he had come out of the cornfield and smacked her hard in the face with the bike helmet, explaining the blood they found on it, and her injuries. Once the police officer discovered the broken corn stalks right off the road Sierah had been riding down the officer walked into the cornfield from there and first found one grave that had been dug, but was empty. So they knew she wasn’t far. They looked a bit longer, and that’s when they found her. And when they found her she had been covered with thousands of insect bites that occurred while she was still alive. Also, when they found her she was bound by her hands and feet as they said, but she was also hogtied. She was in such a position that her feet were almost touching her head. And it was a sex toy that was in her mouth, not a gag. The torment and torture he put this poor girl through is unimaginable. They also think that he had had her alive and hogtied in the freezer. But because police had questioned him he wanted to move her, in case they searched his property. So he put the sex toy in her mouth to keep her quiet, and he closed the freezer door. But she accidentally died of asphyxiation because of the sex toy. And then he moved her and buried her. When Jim is talking about wanting to make porn films they left out the part where he talks about some show called “Casting Couch”. I never heard of it until I listened to a podcast about Sierah. But apparently it’s a porn show and the premise is that some guy puts an ad in the paper looking for women that wanted to become porn stars. So they come over and “audition” with this guy. And they film the “audition”. That’s the idea Worely wanted to copy. He really believed that he could put an ad in the paper and women would be leaping at the opportunity to come out to his barn and have sex with him. What an idiot! I believe he was really going to do that, but I think ultimately the reason he was going to do that was to be able to abduct the women he wanted. I’m glad they caught him so quickly. It’s just so completely sad that she had suffocated before they found her. I hope this monster serves really hard time and gets served up some really severe prison justice for this. He deserves no less. I feel horrible for her parents and really horrible for her boyfriend. The guilt he must live with has to be overwhelming. I hope one day he finds peace. There’s absolutely no way he could’ve known what was going to happen. And I’m glad her family finally won in court and were able to take over that property. For a long time they had to frequently drive by that barn knowing full well what had occurred inside, to their daughter. How do you even begin to move on with that constant reminder in their face.

This guy was way too sloppy to have done other crimes and just not left any evidence.
The people investigating this got the same idea everyone in the comments got. So they went over the property with a fine toothed comb. They brought in all sorts of high tech equipment and just found nothing.
Yet it makes no sense this guy had a kidnapping and murder setup for years and just didn't use.
I personally feel he had a previous partner in crime. A partner that was the quiet brains behind the scenes type to his loud mouthed braggart type. A partnership where combined they were both better than apart.
I think they should take a closer look at his brother. People get like this guy due to horrific childhood abuse. It would be a very odd family situation if his brother didn't suffer similar abuse and didn't come out of it with similar tendencies.
There's a weird dynamic in a lot of partnerships. A quiet brains behind the scenes type teams up with a loud mouth braggart type. Those types of partnerships are always destined to fail from the start. I could see the same happening here.
The loudmouth becomes unbearable to be around because they are sure they're smarter than the other partner. The other partner always decides to just quietly backout and let the loudmouth fail epically. They know it will happen as soon as they leave and that they don't have to set anything up. Just walking away sets it in motion.
Yet if his previous partner decided to walk away and let this guy crash and burn they would have done a really good job cleaning up knowing this guy was definitely going to get caught. That would perfectly explain the complete lack of evidence of other crimes.
That sort of partnership happens in all sorts of businesses. It happens in academic settings. It happens in the movie industry. That's why sequels nearly always fail compared to the first. It happens with video games. The first one is great, everyone looks forward to the second only for it to crash and burn because the real brains of the operation left quietly. Then the loud mouth is left holding the bag explaining why now everything is just totally fucked up while the brains just laughs from the sidelines.
If I was the police or the FBI I'd look heavily at anyone this guy spent a lot of time with when there could be other murders . There's just no way others didn't happen.
Because they had to have happened there's got to be a former accomplice who was just better at it than him who was helping him in the past. Someone they probably have talked to and interviewed about this guy. Someone who seemed quiet and reserved. Someone they probably didn't suspect.

It sure seem like the story was going to have a happy ending at one point of the story, but then when they talked about the blood, I knew it was going to be the bad ending.

Even amongst violent offenders, this guy is weird. I've heard hundreds - maybe thousands - of these interrogations, and I don't think I've ever heard one who seems to so compulsively telegraph himself, in the way that this guy did. It's really pretty fascinating to listen to him. If you let this guy talk long enough, I think he would self-snitch on himself for every wrong thing he's ever done.

It’s always fascinating to me how these killers rarely lawyer up and think they can talk their way out of it themselves - not that I would want them to get away with it, but it truly shows their narcissistic nature. If you committed a crime, and you know you did it, why in the world would you talk to police on your own volition unless you felt like confessing, never mind inviting them to search your property?

They had the evidence at the scene. The search warrant came as soon as they got there. And yet they continued to humor a sick killer and didnt put him in a holding cell while the search was carried out. He wasnt interrogated after being read his rights.

Coming back and watching this months later and this guy is still so fascinating. I’ve never seen somebody accidentally tell on themselves do profusely. He should have confessed the second the police showed up to the door.
He loved firing off questions like he was in charge. The detectives did a great job making him think that he was putting them on the back foot. It was also evident that he HATED when the female detective asked him anything at all.

It says a lot about his misogyny and hatred of women just from how he talks to and reacts to the female detective. Any time she comments or asks him a question he is incredibly hostile and demeaning. He's a lot more neutral and courteous to the male detectives. He doesn't seem to trust the female detective or respect her authority.
I wonder how he treated his mom? He probably resented having to care for her and of course a whole other slew of issues.

It’s disgusting that he was given such a short prison sentence for the earlier attempted abduction and then ended up serving only TWO YEARS. Had he been given the lengthy sentence such an act warranted - fifty years or more - he wouldn’t have been free to abduct, torture, and kill Sierah (and any other woman he killed).

The investigation into who was responsible for his release after only serving 2 years of a 10 year sentence for such a violent crime and why this could even be possible and ever be considered acceptable by a reasonable person...that should be an equally investigated by police and publicized by news media....

totally agree!! Our judicial system is so F'd up. Sentences range from little to no time for extremely awful things, like this guy, to like a million years for drugs or some crap. It really is messed up.

I picked up on this immediately, and I’m wondering why this wasn’t more apparent to the other officers/investigators. I’d surmise that he resents his mother intensely, and while he feels somewhat responsible for having to care for, he’s also going to focus his anger on other women he can punish. Add to that his isolation, his paranoia and his feelings of inadequacy and you’ve got a real winner.
I've seen this story done on other TC channels, and this is the most thorough and authentic I've seen. The investigating LEO dialogue was great. You basically let this animal tell his own story. Talk about digging yourself into a hole. Well done.

I’m addicted to watching interrogations. What I’ve noticed is that 99% of all of these killers have some sort of Cluster B personality disorder (Antisocial, Psychopathy, Narcissistic, Borderline) and I’m convinced, that not all people with these Personality Disorders kill, but all killers have one of the Cluster B personality disorders. They love to gaslight, need attention, and think they’re always the most intelligent person in the room. I had an ex who lied just like all of these people (using same patterns and excuses when called out) and she used to make me think I was going crazy. I know now it’s called “gaslighting”. If you’re interested in stories like these investigations, look up Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Be safe out there. These people are everywhere. Like I said, not all of them kill, but all killers have one of the Cluster B types.

I live about 30 minutes from Delta, OH. I remember this case when it broke on the news. It's crazy to think that I live that close to where all of this happened. I remember some friends and family going out to help search for her. I live in Toledo, but out there in Delta is nothing but farmlands and all of the houses are so far apart. It's quite literally the boonies. It's so sad that this happened but it makes me worry for others that you see frequently out there, jogging or riding their bikes. Route 20 that takes you from Toledo all the way West is pretty dangerous. It connects Toledo, Swanton, Delta, Wauseon, etc. Same with Airport Highway. But I remember when I was working for this tree company, I was on my way back from Wauseon, OH and there was a bad accident where a semi had t-boned this sedan. I think one or all of the occupants died in the crash. Super dangerous out there for anyone especially if they're riding a bike/walking. May God rest her soul and crazy to think Jimbo is gonna be executed next year.
I’m also from the boonies area, when I tell you NO ONE rides their bikes out on the county roads anymore I mean it. What happened to Sierah has left a BIG mark on the community , took the safety people thought they had. We had the naivety that bad things don’t happen on small communities like this. I used to see a lot more riders before all of this happened, now unless they’re proper cyclists no one is out anymore.

Maybe occasionally, but there were always at least 2 people together. This is why I'm glad Ohio is permitless carry now. It gives people the opportunity to defend themselves without having to wait for the sheriff's office to get your CCW certificate.

It’s so horrifying to think of how that poor girl must have felt at the mercy of this lunatic. It was extraordinary listening to the case practically unfold as the interview goes on. LE did an excellent job keeping him talking regardless of how obnoxious or combative he was being. Given how elaborate the whole set up was sadly I find it highly unlikely Sereh was the only victim to this depraved monster. The details at the end were truly disturbing so thank goodness he is finally locked up.
Base on the fact that she die due to Asphyxiation because the gage in her mouth was too big. Also she was hog tied. Also the fact that he went home, waited till dark and came back with a truck. I think he attacked her. Tie her up and left her in the cornfield. He came back when it was dark to get her but she already die. So he mess with her corpse.
@dannyn.3539 that’s definitely a possibility she died in the cornfield. But- I think it’s more likely she was alive when he brought her back to the barn due to the adult diaper and gag. If she was already dead I think it’s less likely she would have had those on still. I think it wasn’t the gag alone that caused the asphyxiation but a combination of the gag and limited air supply while being stuffed in the freezer.

This was the most intense interrogation I've ever heard. Especially since so much of it was on his property. The one cop was right. He was loving ever second.

Sierah went missing while a student at my college and she was in the same social frat as my best friend. I remember when she went missing it was the only post I saw on any of my social media, just post after post of people spreading awareness of her being missing. And then, after her death was discovered, so many people I knew were sharing photos of themselves with her. And I don’t know, sometimes I feel like her face and her smile is like emblazoned in my mind to this day. Like sometimes I just think about her and how if the legal system had done its job, she could still be alive. I think about her boyfriend too, it’s not his fault, it never was, but I don’t know how someone could ever overcome something like that.
This story sits so heavy in my chest. Her mom still posts on her Facebook and I see them from time to time. It’s so hard not to think about her, so when I saw her face pop up in my recommended videos it was hard not to click and comment.
That's very very sad. Hearing parents posting on their passed away kids social media always breaks my heart. ❤

i live in toldeo, about an hour or two away from delta where this happened. its amazing to see the impact this had around us. there are so many memorials for sierah every year and recently theyve been teaching self defense in honor of sierah. some people i know knew her and can only ever speak kindly about her. such a sad and upsetting case.
