  • @unknownally
    @unknownally Před 10 lety +42

    The Subaru doesn't use a computer driven differential, it's mechanical. The transmission sits closer to the driver and rear differential distributing the weight better. The axles are more equal lengths, therefore more grip on rally courses and less tq steer. This is what's great about symmetrical AWD.
    You're supposed to dive the nose in to compensate for the under steer. That's how you drive a Subie. Watch WRC and see for yourself.

    • @unknownally
      @unknownally Před 9 lety +12

      Update: that's how you drive in Rally. Tarmac you would have to try not to brake hard, so the load doesn't go too far to the front wheels, or throttle too much so the load doesn't go to far to the rear wheels. Basically, you have to keep the car balanced.

    the 4g63 handles more boost because it is an iron block,
    the sti uses a aluminium block, which creates better handling as the nose is lighter where the evolution is more nose heavier.
    an iron block is the engine you want for a lot of boost, the 2jz is an iron block, none of the boxer engines came as an iron block.
    the evolution is easier to drive..

    gotta love both cars. If you don't then you are not a true gear head. The evo has 235 tires all around while the sti has 225 all around. That's 1 big factor in why the evo will be superior to the sti on a track. The sti also has a little softer suspension which also will make it a little slower around the track. But the sti will handle things like snow better. Me personally, I'll take an sti over an evo any day. They are still amazing on track, great fun on snow, sporty but bearable ride which is what i love. Evo has a sporty unbearable ride but that's just my opinion. and of course nothing tops that boxer engine rumble. A black sti with black rims and tinted windows also looks waaaay better than any color combination evo in my opinion.

Timing belts on a longitudinally mounted subaru, waaay easier than the lateral evo.You only have to go through it every 105K with the subaru, versus every 60K with the evo. I'm not sure that I can speek unbiasdly about the subject since I've owned and performed said maitainence on my previous cars, eagle talon TSI AWD, Stealth R/T AWD, and a short three year career with chrysler,lots of mitsu engines.

    Oh, and I ran out of room, but it's worth mentioning: THEY DON'T HAVE FIVE BAJILLION GOD DAMNED COMPUTERS! Hell the CTS-V barely has any at all, it's got one to run the fuel injection and ignition, one to run the radio, gps and similar luxuries, and an ABS module with a traction control you can toggle between on and completely off. You don't have to spend fifteen minutes setting the car up if the mood hits. Just drop three cogs, nail the gas and steer left to go right! SOOOO much simpler.

    I think the Subie looks better, but I may be biased because I own one. LOL But I acknowledge the EVO is a better car.

    It can be set up to display a banner on the page when you go to the video. Or even just stick to the little pop ups on the bottom of the video. The 15-30 second commercials are annoying as hell.

    No, they're better off road, which is where they are actually meant for. And they have better interiors. I just wish they fixed that understeering problem.

    coming from a subie guy, i agree somewhat. evo's are faster and easier to add power to but subies are better built. i think the subie looks more "muscular" and agressive too though.

    I didn't ask what it was made out of, I know the comparisons. I was simply stating a huge difference in what they can deal with stock. The difference goes beyond that. The 4G63 has better characteristics overall. I have an iron 4 banger too, but it's not in the same league as the 4G63. It's arguably a more capable motor out of the box
    .
    You may have seen a good amount of rallys, but look at track course times in stock cars, they tell a different story, and it's not about them being equal...

    the loudest tire sound around the track belonged to the Veyron. It had so much tire squeel.
