I have staccatos, a nighthawk, couple atlas and I love my prodigys. However I went in knowing I was going to change a lot on the gun instead of doing it on a higher priced gun. I feel like it’s a good entry level but most people have no experience with 1911/2011

I have two 4.25"ers with over 3,000 rds. and zero malfunctions. I put a Masterpiece Arms aluminum grip, ported the bbl and replaced all internals on my first one and total was less than a Staccato. The grip, porting and 2lb trigger make it truly superior to one though. My other Prodigy is stock...for now.

I rented the 5" and 4.25 at the range...oiled both guns before shooting. Granted, these were range rentals. That said...a lot of ftf and fte from both. Switching to my gen 2 sti mags helped some but shot 100 through the 5 and 150 through the 4.25...never got through a 17 rnd mag without a malfunction. The gun smith had already swapped the springs on the 5" to "fix" some of the issues. The issues will likely get worked out, but as of now, it's not reliable imo. Potential is there, but bul armory sas tac is better in every way for $300 more, and I had zero issues through 200 rnds. I edc a staccato P in winter and c2 in the summer...the bul armory is very close to my staccatos in performance. The prodigy isn't worth it, yet.

@Rally Tactical it was a good review! I agree on the importance of availability. I just think rushing production and qc to increase "availability" isn't the way to go. Sig did it on the 320 and 365...they are good now, but there were growing pains. Prodigy will get there, I'm sure. My issue depends on the purpose of the gun: range gun, yes, home defense or edc...no, not yet.
The prodigy is going to be great for 1911s...more competition which will lead to lower price, higher quality. Too many crappy 1911s being produced trying to compete with polymer pricing imo.
