    I bought my wife an ‘02 Tahoe with 150k almost five years ago for $4,300. Since then I have fixed almost nothing! I mean details. It’s so reliable I just can’t believe it. It’s at 210k now. The little 5.3 still runs and sounds great.

    Have been in love with this setup for a long time- had a 99 1500 suburban for a short time and I loved it! Except the damn 42 gal tank- that hurt when 4-5$ per gal

    Man I've been waiting for you to drop another video with that. Yukon XL. I love that truck. I have a '03 suburban 1500 with a max towing package. 4x4 265,000 mi strong. But I'm thinking about getting a 3/4 ton for towing car trailer and a camper.

    As far as a good over-landing rig I love my 5.9 powered 01’ Durango…it’s in the same size class as a Ford Explorer…short wheelbase, great ground clearance and it has 3/4 ton truck power, a very good clutch-based limited slip and a great part-time 4x4 system…the only electric motor is the T-case shifter, the front end has no disconnect at all and is always engaged so when you go from 2-4wd it’s good as soon as the T-case shifts.

    Super clean engine bay! Only dislike is leather needs a good cleaning. Highly suggest ColourLock for an OEM finish. Matt’s video from Obsessed Garage goes into depth. But all in all that’s a solid machine. My co-worker has a 1500 with 289,000 miles. Thing runs like a clock. ⏰

      I have a 1500 and from other vids I see, it's also good at towing. I bought mine at 350K miles and the previous owner didn't take the best care of engine. I'm debating on swapping in a new 6.0 or going back with 5.3.

  • @theeverythingchannelyt548

    I have the same vehicle but in the truck version 2002 3500 Silverado with the Allison and I have 150k on the clock and it drives like the day I got from Chevy I love my truck gas mileage will make cringe 10 mpg loaded or unloaded.

    3.73 is the best way to go on a stock HD, 4.10’s KILL your MPG if you run over 60 mph regularly. These big blocks seem to like to cruise at or below 2100 RPM for best mileage and with a 4.10 you’re closer to 2500 at 75mph

    Kryptonite is the upgraded suspension parts you are referring to. Im getting the 3" suspension lift from kryptonite. They offer fox shocks or 5100 Bilstein. I was going with Fox, but from my research, they arent as good for towing as the 5100 shocks.

    We dont have the great wide open places for adventure in the southeast unfortunately. Thats why i plan to overland my Z71 Burb cross country.

    I had a 2001 Silverado 2500 4x4 with the 8.1l and 6speed manual. Cool truck but had too many issues. Lost a rod bearing at 90k miles and that was the end of the motor and the truck for me. Always maintained maybe just unlucky.

    • @J.R.in_WV
      @J.R.in_WV Před rokem +1

      I never had good luck with any of the Mark IV based GM big blocks…like you said, bottom end failures seemed to always be an issue. I wish GM had offered the ZF-6 behind the 6.0 LS, I had one with an NV4500 and having the ratio spread of the 6 speed would have made it a much nicer truck.

    People are turning those 2500s into Duraburbs. Thats what i wouod do, if i get one. Still would keep my 1500 tho.

    Are you really saving much going aftermarket on parts? For an example, I don't see why you wouldn't run ac Delco brakes... What aftermarket brand would actually get you better performance and last as long and be meaningfully cheaper ?

    • @J.R.in_WV
      @J.R.in_WV Před rokem

      You’re dead right on that. Only brand I’ve actually had give better life and performance than stock on disc brake pads is EBC and they’re definitely not cheaper than Delco.

    Isnt stabilitrack only for 2wd models and 4wd uses autotrack? My 05 Z71 4x4 has 2wd, 4hi,4lo, and auto 4wd. Oh ok, now i see, you have the GMC, i think thats the difference. Maybe you had the Denali version which is AWD.
