Rum Distillery and Silent Disco

- So this was day 2 in La Romana in the Dominican Republic . Today we had a P&O excursion booked , a visit to the Ron Barcelo rum distillery .
After meeting ashore we boarded our coach for the 45 minute drive to the distillery . On arrival we were shown the process of making, ageing , and the history of the Distillery .
At the end of the tour we had a chance to sample a number of different rums .and of course we finished in the shop . Where I must say the rums on sale were very reasonable priced .
On returning to the port we spent some time around the refurbished port area , with its bars, shops , swimming pool , loads of sun beds and even a viewing platform in the guise of a Lighthouse .This really is a nice place to spend the day if you have no excursions booked .
That evening we had our meal in the main dining room , then listened to various music acts before making our way to the atrium for the silent disco . As this was the first one of the cruise it was very busy but a lot of fun . That evening we set sail heading for Saint Martin .

You and Pearl definitely had the right idea sat at the bar whilst the others were exercising, I couldn’t think of anything worse jumping around in swimwear!! 🫣😂

I gave the altitude walk a miss that day , as you say not the best idea . I eventually did it in St Kitts . Always the bar for us if we have an option.😂

Hi Amanda , thank you very much for those kind words. We do like a bit of silent disco 💃, but they need to mix the music up a bit . Hopefully you will be busting out a few moves on your cruise 😄. This looked like a really fun day! You would love the bourbon trail in Kentucky. Close to me we have a donut & chili trail. Had a very good Easter, and hope you all did as well. We are expecting some very rough weather tomorrow. The silent disco is still one of the funniest sites I've ever seen! Pearl's dress was beautiful, and you all need 2 mikes. It is hard for me to hear you when Pearl has it. Can't wait till next week! Take care!
Hi Rene , Happy Easter to you glad you are well . Apologies for the sound quality,we do use two microphones but unfortunately one wasn’t working properly and we didn’t find out until we got home . That doesn’t sound good concerning the weather, I think we have the usual rain on the way. Bourbon trail sounds great and I am partial to a chilli not too hot though. Our not very silent disco was good fun very busy though you could hardly move . Pearl sends her best wishes and thank you for the compliment. Next week we are on a Zip line in Saint Maarten. Great video 👏We had the same cabin view of the La Romana chimney 😂 Love this colourful port. Wow, so many barrels in that rum distillery, it was fascinating to see the production line bit. You got great views of Arvia from the lighthouse 😍
