The voice, the hair, the speed, the white tama, the EET FUK guitar, Jason.... And firing on all cylinders! What a show!!!!
+Anthony Assault that's a gray tama dude
+Beto Garcia
I was about to say the same thing.
Anthony Assault Grey Tama kit. Early 90's was when Lars used his signature White Tama drum set

My time machine is almost ready. Who all want Justice??
Me please
Yo!
hahah im gonna bring a bunch of cash before inflation!!! we got front row seats so the video camera picks us up!!!
Did I miss the trip?
All we need is a little plutonium! It's available in every corner drugstore!
That Lady Justice statue falling down is probably the most badass thing I’ve ever seen on stage.
This era of Metallica is definitely the Gold Standard for metal!
this is the peak of music....nobody can change my damn mind
No doubt my man !! Was lucky i landed in that era! Fun time too be young!!!!🎊🚬🎆🍸
Metal is in there name greatest rock band ever all members
Try Sylosis !
Exactly. Like journalist joe McClaver said. They are the Led Zeppelin of our Generation.
You can say what you want about Metallica, but the Justice era is undoubtedly the peak of metal. No other band will reach this level.
acc 320 that album blew my mind when I first heard it in 88. Ride the Lightning was my first Metallica tape in 86 then Puppets then the 5.98 ep
Hm, i’d say that Pantera’s CFH and VDOP era is close to it, still agree that this is Mount everest of heavy metal and probably of music in general.
acc 320 AND JUSTICE FOR ALL 🔥🔥🤘🏼
IMO ...AJFA is the best Metallica album but Megadeth's Rust in Peace is a way better than that it is a truly masterpiece
@@ibrahimyigitkorkmaz7613 I think the same as you (RIP >> AJFA > MOP), but I don't think you can compare RIP with AJFA and MOP. These Metallica albums have on average 6-10 min songs, the rythmic guitar dominates heavily, the riffs are mostly in the first frets of the E string. Meanwhile, RIP feels much more "lighter", more volatile, high pitched, with more solos, shorter songs.
AJFA is a bulldozer, RIP is a golden eagle.
Lars drumming on this album is a MASTERPIECE in itself......
Lar
Absolutely🤘
Very underrated drummer
Dyers eve!
I just wish the bass was audible
My favorite part about this song is that it doesn’t build up and go back down. It goes up higher and higher and builds itself up and doesn’t stop until it destroys the stage.
Hearing the song continue until the stage literally blows up and the lights are swinging in the air that gives me chills everytime!! Best metal concert in history nothing can change my mind!!
Intense culmination like theatre
Drain you of your sanity….❤
It goes down at 6:12 and comes back up at 7:20
9:03 That shot of James… LEGENDARY
Absolutely badass
yeah man!!!!!!°
Yeah men, they had a picture in google the shot of james legendary shot background.
Damm that is a fucking epic shot
This is the absolute ceiling for any metal band. I don't think it's possible to surpass the energy, the influence, the raw power, the meaning, and the surreality of Justice era Metallica performing ...And Justice For All!
Christian Sagredo I want to agree because AFJA is my all-time favourite Metallica album and 87-89 James had the most power in his voice. But I think the Black Album era was the true peak for Metallica (not necessarily for metal).
Cliff?
jeremy tumasz what about him?
Chris Sagredo i think ended at black album.. crazy how these dudes were only around 26 at this time
@jeremy tumasz Sure, Cliff was a living legend and he’s my favourite bassist of all time, but this time I have to agree with him, because this is the peak of all the others band members (James’ voice, Kirk’s best performance, Jason’s best performance, Lars’ best performance, Lars’ hair)
JUSTICE IS LOST
JUSTICE IS RAPED
JUSTICE IS GONE
never realised he said raped
+Mr Superstar XV z*
+Mr Superstar XV I thought he said right
JPablo same
"right" doesn't make sense in this context. And it's funny how we can still relate to these lyrics.
Happy 35th Birthday, Justice.
Although I play bass and there's no bass on the album, you're still my favorite.
" And justice for all" is the greatest metal album of all time. No other metal band can touch this peak.
Rust in peace is up there but I agree
@@Yabuddy53also Reign in blood
I’d say Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, Kill em all and Death Magnetic are all right up there too!
rust in peace can touch ajfa all it wants
The 'Tallica boys teaching all those kids who think tuning down their guitars makes them sound heavy, a thing or two about *writing* HEAVY songs .
If you want heavy, listen to The Thing That Should Not Be
Oh yeah!! :D
Which is tuned down. You just made his commentary look wrong. HAHAHAHAHAH
Also Sad but true is tuned down too! lol!
Metallica actual tuned down to get that heaviness to it.
Tuning down does make things sound darker/heavier, but talent is still required or it sounds like shit!
Metallica masters both ways!
You guys are missing the point. All I'm saying is that if your riff isn't heavy, it doesn't matter how many steps you tune down, you still aren't gonna sound good. This song is in standard and it kicks serious ass.
Tuning down does make the riff sound different and give it somewhat of a different colour (for lack of a better word), but the reason The Thing That Should Not Be and Sad But True sound heavy is because the composition has a "heavy" feel to it, not because they've tuned down. I bet they could play both songs in standard and it would sound pretty much just as heavy.
Not to exaggerate, but there will be the time this masterpiece should be seriously considered as American heritage, no matter what or how...
Agreed
Master of Puppets is in the Library of Congress but the government is too chickenshit to put Justice in... it would basically be an admission of guilt.
@@plasmakitten4261 absolutely. It’s a masterpiece
First time seeing this video. That said, 3 things:
1) The editing is...masterful.
2) They fucking made the entire stage setup collapse as the climax of the concert? My jaw literally dropped when I was watching this shit!
3) Shit goes hard riiight HERE 5:48
it really does go fire at that part
so heavy
I want to see more people talking about the breakdown at 5:50 😤😡😠🤬🤬
I like the cool-down/build-up at 7:08. Monstrously heavy.
This was made into a box set back in the 90's. That's why the editing is so good. I used to have one, now I only have the cassettes, and VHS tapes. No box.
In my opinion I think shit goes hard right about here 0:01 till the end. But I guess thats just me.
This is some of the most iconic footage in modern human history.

Saw this tour at the Richmond Coliseum next to the stage. The stage coming apart was so epic from that vantage point.

Yes
This is Metallica at their best. It never got any better
Truth!!
I also like the '84-'87 period that they were playing all their songs ultra-fast, technicaly perfect & very tight! But l agree that during their '88-'93 period they became so sure & spontaneous with their playing &, having a better gear, they slowed their velocity on studio levels & refined their tightness (so the live experience equals the stellar studio quality of their first 5 albums)! Then during the Load-Reload chilling they lost Lars & Kirks interest on precision & became a bit clumsy!
Harvester of Sorrow Moscow 91
< Harvester Of Sorrow Seattle 89
StraightOutdoors I completely agree
Saw them with Cliff on the puppets tour. Saw them on the monsters of Rock stadium tour with Jason, 3 times on the justice tour and the black album once.
And....that's all folks
Nice and awsome memory I can only give you five 😅👍
Best comment ever.
Lucky you, lifetime experience
Same here that's when they were at their peak. My opinion
So are you saying your favorite band is....Abba?
Lady justice falling apart was one of their best scenographic ideas !
Epic
7:38 what an awesome image of Jason looking up at lady justice. It really adds to the theme of the song and the whole feel of the performance.
Basically he is giving the signal for the head carpenter to damage lady justice and pyro Pete to add the "breakdown " effect
Heavy...
@@thebandgaruda he stood by as they raped justice
thats funkibg metal
Especially since he didn’t get any justice during his time in Metallica!
justice is lost, justice is raped, justice is gone
pulling your strings, justice is done, seeking no truth, winning is all, find it so grim, so true, so real....
Natasa Rigaki you need help?
the reality of these lyrics went above my head as a kid, as an adult im like jesus fuck how did james write the lyrics on this album! real, raw, masterpiece
Whys everyone so negative about someone comment a section of the lyrics
@@natasarigaki1911 The fuck is your problem
@Sound Offense You’re like Jesus?
Just joking, I’m not an idiot
Undoubtedly the best version for this song live. When Metallica ruled the world.
Hetfield’s aggression is so great to watch. I don’t think there was a more aggressive frontman during this era.
He’s the perfect metal frontman. Man has stage presence like no other
He’s not aggressive just plain awesome 😎
And Lars Ulrich looks like an hairball from all the energy :D
I agree James is the greatest metal frontman of all time al least for thrash metal
Axl of course.
When Metallica ruled the world!
Mario Moreno Guerrero They still ruling the world
unfortunately this isn't true. Now electronic shitty music rules the world. I feel sorry about that :(
This is so sad alexa play despacito
Alexa play And Justice For All live 89 100 times please
They still do but quitely
Still, the greatest show I ever saw. I was at the Seattle show, 14 years old with my older brother. They played for 3.5 hours, no opening act. Sound was awesome and they were "on" that night. Perfect.
Im so jealous
I was there and at 29 it was one of the greatest concerts ever. The raw power was amazing, love metallica to this day. METALLICA 40YRS
I was the same age at the Riverbend show in Cincinnati OH.
JEALOUS OF YOU MY MAN. I saw them a few months ago for the first time but this show has been my favorite one for 15 years
I caught them with Queensryche in 89 greenbay.
People can hate on Lars all they want, and it's warranted. But IN THIS era, he was effing unbelievable. Just watch and listen!
Say what you will about timing and technicality, but I think Lars pretty much nailed the entire Seattle 89' performance while demolishing those drums like no tomorrow
I hope those drums were over 18 that night or the two nights they performed in Seattle that year he gave them a true beating!
GREATEST FKIN CONCERT OF ALL TIME
Definitely best heavy metal concert. Across all music though I'm not so sure, cuz Queen was also fucking killer in their prime. But still this concert kicks fucking ass!
all of Metallica's '89 shows were like this, just that this one was filmed.
I was there and yea it was bad ass
Day of the Green was better.
No fukin doubt about it man
This is not a live shit, this is a live perfection
I LOVE METALLICA SINCE I WAS YOUNG AND NOW IM 45 NOTHINGS GONNA CHANGE METALLICA 4 EVER.
this song, this whole album is amazing. i wish they wouldve played it more
"Wait, is that the same bass line on the album version?"
"There's a bass line on the album version?"
Haha that was a good one .
Nick Ross it's called a ghost bass. You think you here a little bass sometimes on and justice but then you remember they mixed newstead off the album.
That's a joke. Lars made sure the bass on the album was none existent
Clinton Walsh
Lars was a dick...
Nick Ross haha
I miss young lars man
Truee back in those days Lars was considered a monster drummer. To this day i cant believe he is the same guy who wrote Dyers eve,Blackened Shortest straw and of course this masterpiece
Lars is still good. Damn good actually. Just a popular thing now for people who have never picked up a pair of drumsticks to talk shit on him. Like to see just one person post of video showcasing their drumming prowess.
Same, same
@Allen Bass He is shit at it by todays stantards.
Samuel.ne me too men.. The actually Lars sucks
I saw 4 shows on the justice tour ...I was 18-19.....WAS THE GREATEST.....they played in Kalamazoo for almost 4 hours
Lars was an absolute machine to go for almost 4 hours! My arms and legs would be dead after just 1 hour but what makes being in your prime so good! Makes you practically unstoppable
Ladies and gentlemen...THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF METAL...
Jesus Christ, James's voice at 2:33 gives me the chills EVERY. TIME.
@Philip Messina fuck you that's why
his vocals and his voice alone makes this the best metallica concert ever. plus everyone else is going HAAAAM
It doesn't get any better than this. '89 Hetfield was a beast!
Hetfield was a beast from 84-89, especially 85-87.
I remember 89.
Man i wish they still played justice stuff. They only really play One and Harvester but its my favorite album
3:52 the way he hits them notes when he says “with prying minds” fuckin hits
That “yeah” right after was Het confirming that he indeed HIT that shit 😂
I saw them 4 times on this tour!
lucky bastard
Dude you have me seriously jealous
If they did not see you, it does not count. So there. Dough cookies.
7 I win
I was trying to follow them throughout the tour but I could not see everything, it gave me time to see only 7 concerts
I’ve listened to this thousands of times already and I’ll be damned if I don’t listen to it thousands of more times
Trenton Schmitt me to bro
Penis milk brother
Same here pal !
U still like it?
Same bro!
This almost brings tears to my eyes and chills me to the core. The impact they have made over the years is insane. If it weren’t for Metallica I don’t know where I’d be. Very thankful.
I literally wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Metallica
Verdade
Singing like this pretty much blew out James’ voice and made him change his style but, I thank him for that sacrifice because his forced, growl-style of singing was such a unique voice for metal. It added so much aggression to the songs.

lily knows i went to see them with Jason twice, it was awesome
lily knows probably he came near his amp and actually heard what he was playing, so he smiled
lily knows Back in '88 I saw these guys, and Jason brought so much energy to the show, he genuinely loved Metallica, and it showed.
Those 4 guys, this era, this show, this song fucking masterpiece!!!
Lady Justice falling apart at the end though, it's scary how accurate that is to the justice system even now
they filmed it like it's a movie or something haha. awesome directing for this concert. binge and purge awesome. legendary!!
Yeah it's their first live album so.
Oh didn't know. My brother had binge and purge on VHS as a nice box set. He told me someone stole it years ago. Sad because they go for a decent price on VHS as the box set. Collectible. Awesome concert tho.
Metal doesn't get any better than this ! Long live Metallica
still one of the most epic ends to one of the most epic concerts of all time
One of the times when an album outperformed the hype. Blew my mind.
BEST... LIVE... SHOW... EVER...

My favorite concert of this song is when he said; “you know what this is?! This is justice baby!” Near the end of the intro. Can’t remember which one it was though. Bone chilling
And justice for all live Montreal, qc, Canada 9 August 2014

Still my ever favorite performance of ...And Justice For All! It gets me so fucking pumped just listening to it! I can't imagine what it must've been like having been there. One of their best shows ever.
The things people would give just to go back in time and attend such a legendary concert.
Frrrr
Best metal concert in Human history. Untouchables
One of the best song of Metallica, it's so cool.
2019 James Hetfield “ Thank you ‘Tallica frands, we love you all!”
1989 James Hetfield “Thank you FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!”
I like 1989 better.
He said in an interview that he keeps the swearing to a minimum so that it doesn't lose it's effectiveness when necessary.

God, I'd kill to be able to go back to some of those old concerts.
That part where they blew up the statue (drawing a blank on the nickname they gave her...Doris?) gives me chills.
I’ve heard she was called Edna as well?
James Matthews Edna is the name of a guitar Kirk Hammett owned. It was a Strat copy.
The Metal One Yeah, pretty sure it was Doris.
Doris is a god. The god of justice actually.
First time I saw this video my mouth dropped when that statue started crumbling down.

When I need a boost for the day, I watch this
Why was this never released on CD? This would fly off of shelves if it did.
there is an audio version on the internet.Just search for it.I listen to it often.
Flying V it is on CD now. I bought it a few months back and it’s amazing.
Flying V live shit?
Flying V it’s on iTunes now! Thank goodness
There's a CD DVD combo release. It's on my ever growing never ending want list.
Cliff would’ve been proud, rock on🤘🤘🤘
"And Justice For All" is the best and most powerful album from Metallica, which never get old and it's the sound of all generations yeaaah🤘🌹🎸⚡️🍻
I still remember like it was yesterday, when the video for "one" debuted on MTV. I sat there as a teenager, counting down the days for it to premiere. Then watching headbangers ball on mtv every saturday after to see it over again and again. Prior to that, they stated and everyone believed they would never do music videos...never, ever. Thats what made the videos debut such a big thing
Prime Metallica.
4:52 this transition is an absolute beauty
This and San Diego '92 are by far, IMHO, the best Metallica concerts.
Oh and Moscow!
The energy of Jason Newsted is just unmatched. Cliff is sorely missed and beloved and was a unique presence and talent, Rob is....well he's there, I guess, but Jason had some serious high level stage presence.
Don't disrespect Rob yo
I was in my teens wen they were blowing up big! Crazy times crazy bands coming out everywhere! These stadium concerts were unreal! The people the girls the good times.. Nothing will ever compare .. I'm thankful I came up in the 70s 80s
Yep you are the lucky boy man!!! Me not
My personal favourite record of theirs along with "Ride the lightning".
Would give everything to see them live that era!
They performed it in 1987
(Y)
The live production of this song makes me go nuts everytime!!!!!!!
These were the days when Lars showed his true potential!!!
You Know what kicks ass in this video? JASON'S BASS!!!!
The funny thing is that plenty of people here in the comments seem to think that the bass was taken out of this recording as well! No way! This has heaaaaaps more bass in it than the album version of AJFA. Play them one after another and you'll really hear the difference. In the album version the bass guitar is almost inaudible and the drums have no low-end to them at all (that's unless you tweak your EQ to compensate for it).
Dude that fucking rocked!! love this song miss old metallica
Arnis Blūmentāls Thenew album is fucking great too
cowboysfanzz77 there’s only one Metallica
The ending literally makes me cry it's so intense
Holy shit. This concert defines my life. I remember every note... This voice is legend. The best time of thrash metal.
How his voice owns the space with every syllable. What a glorious vocalist peak Hetfield was.
The old Lars!!!! the presence of Jason man!!! the old fucking james!!! and... well, also kirk
Kirk was so good back then...
Kirk was good then and he is still good now.
Kirk was and still is a legend ... :)
You mean.. The young Lars, and the young fucking James.. 😁
Old James? He was young back then, like only 26!

6:18 that intro/interlude is out of this world, sounds like something of a Zelda videogame, truly magical and epic!
I was lucky to have seen this tour at 13yrs from Georgia they set the standards perfectly
How was it possible for them to play songs from all 4 of their albums in one show?
It was a 2 day show
Fire on every cylinder you can find and just as Jason Newsted would say "SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" and "Turn the faucet all the way on and once we go off all the way off. There is no slow progression just a KRRRRRRR (heavily paraphrased)"
Varun Kuchibhotla cause its the best show of allegro time
When I saw them recently, they played songs from every album except for Load, St Anger, and Death Magnetic
Well, they only HAD four albums at the time, and this concert was over 2h long. I've played this much recently and there were songs equivalent of two full albums
The Ultimaaaaaate in vaanityyy Exploiting theeeir supremacyyyy ! YEEEEEAHH!
