I'll be straight up, Francis is one of the only boxers to deal with Fury's style, no offence to how good of a boxer Fury is but on the highest level, his main way is using that superior size and pushing people around. He met someone just as big as him and instead of it being fat it was big muscle. Then Fury tried to push Francis around and met one of the strongest punchers. You can't deny Fury has had a change of style since his fight with Wilder 2, he has been way more aggressive shoving opponents around and laying on them, and hitting them with a 300-pound frame. Francis has proven he can fully out-wrestle a full 247 muscular man in circyl gane. Yes, he can't grapple, but neither can Fury. He's an MMA fighter, he's about the take/knock down, not the knock out which is the goal of boxing. Punch dude till he can't get up. Even Fury watched on disappointedly because he know that should have been him, rather than fuck around and legitimize someone who had no business being the ring with the #3 guy much less the champ. I mean, you can't compare Ngannou to any ordinary fighter. He started to train boxing at the age of 22, which is when most professional boxers usually have their first high profile fights. And he only trained for one year, until becoming ill. He then fled to Paris, to become a fulltime boxer at the age of 26. There he trained boxing and started training MMA shortly after. He then started fighting in MMA at the age of 27, with just one year training in MMA, and got a record of 5-1 over the next 2 years before signing with the UFC, and winning his first 5 fights there. So even tho he started training much older than any other fighter, and training for a much shorter time, he surpassed many other fighters, proving that he is just an absolute force of nature und a naturally gifted fighter. Not only that, but he also trained boxing while in MMA, he trained to defend against boxing as part of MMA, and he has the most powerfull punch ever messured. Also for this fight, he was trained by Mike Tyson. His technique still needs some work, but anybody who said he had no chance, didn't do his homework properly.
I think it should be noted that for most of the fight Ngannou was the aggressor and chased after Fury while Fury clinched a whole lot to stay safe. Fighters should get rewarded more rounds for being the one to press forward while those who stall and play it safe are (being technical yet) being boring and not pushing the spectacle. Which is what makes a fight a fight, those who are willing to risk and push forward are what makes things interesting
Nah. This incentivizes aggressors and risk-takers when some people are naturally going to be more defensive, elusive, and focus primarily on countering things (think Floyd Mayweather, Israel Adesanya, Obi-Wan Kenobi, etc). Fights are back-and-forth.
Fury a clincher though since he moved gyms he started to use his size to tire people out by clenching and basically throwing his weight on them then he beats up a tired opponent. Francis is not a regular MMA fighter. He was training in boxing to begin with and switched to MMA because there was an opportunity there he switched to boxing because he wanted to. This is his sport he loves it. Also in his MMA career up untill his last fight he was mainly standing up and boxing. Most of his wins are by K.O.
There was never a point where (Fury was CLEARLY winning or even clearly HURTING Francis) *Which, i wish was a bigger factor in what decided who wins these fights! It's not just that Francis knocked Fury down. It's all the other stuff. How Francis stayed balanced with his legs, had great reactions, body shots, shifted stances, effective energy, etc. *The only thing i'd critique was, after he dropped fury, he needed to stop trying to counter lead left hook in the later rounds because when Francis actually pulled the trigger, instead of waiting to counter, He was having success. I hope this shows him that If he didn't slow down his offensive output at the end, he could legitimately go out there and be a very successful boxer. *Also Francis dealt with Fury's clinching nonsense Better than anyone! He even posted up certain times, framing off, throwing shots in the clinch, tossing Fury off him. He Handled getting hit with the Hardest illegal Elbow! (could u imagine the reaction if it was the other way around?) Lastly, even tho yes, Francis definitely needed more offensive output in the final rounds. It's insanely impressive Francis was able to manage his energy against one of the best. It's beyond impressive and i hope to see Francis commit more to boxing because he just proved he can hang with the best. With him now knowing, i think Francis can really be a force of nature in the boxing world. *Even if u guys think Fury won, it's at least impressive that Francis was able to do what he did in his first pro boxing match. So many others have tried and haven't shown what Francis was capable of doing. I just hope to see him continue to push himself and see where he can take himself in this craft.

You say Fury's skill level has been exposed as if an MMA fighter can't be successful at boxing, Izzy and Alex were both kickboxing champions that became UFC champions. I think Francis' success is positive and shows what people are capable of and hopefully we get more transitions between sports, fighters don't have to be exclusive to one combat sport.

I'd really love to see O'Malley try his hand at boxing. Yes he'd be at a huge disadvantage, but I think it would be an interesting thing to see how his different movement may pose a challenge
For the audience, all rounds aren’t won by the same margin, nor are they of equal importance. And especially the rounds of low importance won by a narrow marging are the ones that make decisions feel bad. If we need to watch the fight round by round to understand the decision at the end, that’s an issue with the scoring system. The stuff we intuitively score highly should be reflected by the scoring system. There probably is no scoring system that achieves this while remaining objective, but I’m sure we could do better than scoring every round 10-9 unless there is a knockdown or a point deduction by ref.
The only boxing match i have ever watched was a Kelly Pavlick fight when i was in 10th grade since were from the same hometown. I am a novice in boxing fandom so I could be totally wrong. I watch every UFC fight though and i think the reason the gap is smaller in this one instance is heavy fighters are less skilled and fight ending power closes the gap. An old 160 pound boxer(i don't know any boxing weight classes) probably beats prime Izzy pillar to post.
This is actually accurate (though maybe not a 160) but Izzy's boxing is sub par at best and there's a reason he never pursued it despite its greater pat scale to its top fighters.
I was pretty close to unsubscribing because of the thumbnail and the ending but I understand and still enjoy the content. I’m more upset at Fury than anything but this fight has opened a massive door to see the vulnerable side of boxing and it really sucks. Personally I don’t see this as Boxing vs mma, I see Francis as a freak athlete who was able to compete at the highest level of Boxing and MMA. Let’s not forget how Francis was able to beat UFCs best fighters even tho he started late with arguably less skill than them. No one else will do what Francis did

I think your scorecard is reasonable but you failed to take into account the fouls and dirty tactics brushing them off as mere flukes which is dishonest. rds 2,7,10 were swing rounds, meaning they couldve gone either way. I scored rd 2 evenly; in rd 7 I thought Ngannou scraped it off; in rd 10 Fury had that one despite almost all three judges giving Ngannou that round. Also most people gave round 4 to Ngannou. This was a ridiculously closer fight than people give it, in which case neither fight did enough to win resulting in a split draw. However if you did include the illegal elbow, second KD, Ngannou should’ve clearly won. But they wouldn’t have let that happen since the fight was fixed in fury’s favor. The stirring of commotions and affront over this is laughable to me. The objective answer to this is the fight was a draw and if you took it a step further, Ngannou theoretically should’ve won whether anyone likes it or not or wants to play pretend pundit and pedantically quibble about it all day. That said, no one can argue with the results, they don’t reflect a fighter’s true win anyway, only people’s informed opinions and video footage do. I’ve come to realize that boxing as a sport is for entertainment value, not reality. But boxing as an art form will always remain dear to me.

@@crummyspring5755 Fury is embarrassing to boxing for a lot of reasons. Also Fury loves to grapple which is the one thing Ngannou is among the best in the world at.
At the end of the day Francis has the best build and experience to deal with a fighter like Fury plus Mike Tyson training him to help even more.

Fury should have wiped the floor with him but came in knowing Ngannou wasn't shit. Got touched for being over confident and obviously not training seriously.
Now Anthony Joshua comes, takes it seriously, and showed the world exactly how under developed his boxing skills are.
Fuck all that.

He couldn't do that with Francis cuz of his wrestling experience & size. Girls clothes but you're not going to be gifted closed rounds versus the heavyweight champion of the world. I remember when you we're at like 20k man. Congrats on 100k!!!

I agree heavyweights has been the wildcard of boxing any punch can change it all

Let’s not forget how Francis was able to beat UFCs best fighters even tho he started late with arguably less skill than them. No one else will do what Francis did
Francis and his team did a phenomenal job
Started watching you at 80k bro, you have come a long way bro, keep going! Jxmyhighroller of combat sports
Ngannou showed he's easily a top 10 heavyweight, the 0.5 star rating he's got is criminal, this guy deserves recognition
2023 wildes Boxing year recently and then we out here saying "boxing is dead"? Too extreme
Boxing isnt dead , ive been watching your channel for a while TJ but u seem like a casual in this video. Francis did better than we thought yes he did awesome but he clearly lost a UD. Boxing is not dead its actually the best time to be a boxing fan right now , we finally getting the fights we been waiting for so long. Crawford vs Spence, Loma vs Haney, Inoue vs anyone he gonna keep.coming up. Potential match ups with Tank,Shakur Haney, Loma, Canelo vs Benavidez/ Andrade. Fury vs Usky. Meanwhile the biggest fight in near future the UFC is Jon Jones vs Washed 42 year old Stipe.
this is why i only practice boxing. i love it as a sport, but not as a form of entertainment..at least on the professional side. It sucks to see what this sport has become over the span of less than 3 decades and it even worse to think that it will never change. At least not in our lifetime.
“I know what I’ll do, wrestle the ufc champion in the clinch as much as possible, that’ll work well for me, a man whose never wrestled a day in my entire life. I for some reason believe i will have the strength advantage despite standing next to him shirtless while looking like a week old blueberry muffin.” -Fury
If its a close fight, they will give the edge to the champion. Some people may disagree, but that's how it is. If francis was more competitive, he could've won.
He slowed down in round 9 and 10 he could’ve won
No point deductions for the illegal elbow and excessive clinching?
Tbh francis never had this long of a fight. And he was a beginner compared to Fury in boxing. He was impressive but he couldnt take more risks.
@@silverwolf6194 Tbf there was no excessive clinching, Fury clinched but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I agree that they should have deducted a point for the elbow, you already know if Ngannou threw that he would have lost a point.
@@osamamanan2723he's fought longer fights in the UFC.😂 Boxing is just different when you got 12 Oz gloves instead of 4.
And then Ngannou ran into Anthony Joshua....styles make fights is always the adage in boxing...
i love how you didnt catch a single prediction in the last 15 video u made
He definitely did not kill boxing...he simply made a successful transition from one discipline to another against an overly confident champion who didn't take him seriously enough to deliver a stellar performance for the event.
That's it
Agreed
Boxing doesn’t suck, a lot of the main stars are bringing it down by not fighting each others and when they do they cherry pick the stars (tank vs Garcia) aside from maybe canelo who fought some killers.but if you wanna see some crazy fights, watch the up and comers who aren’t signed to big name fighters like mayweather. I suggest o’shaquie vs Hernandez to get a spark back for the sport.
Beautiful
Boxing is dead, that's why Francis Ngannou quit the UFC and switched to boxing where he made more money in one fight than his entire MMA career combined.
Bang on exactly exactly u said it. Truth all the video
This didn't age well 😂
Gotta say I disagree with boxing being in a terrible state rn. A lot of great fights happened this year and a couple more are still to come. Influencer boxing has also become popular and brought new fans and I think Francis will be a fan favorite if he continues. Now that being said I assume you meant more so that the production and controversy of the sport is what's in a terrible spot and if that's what you mean than I agree
None of the fans are staying to watch boxing. They only want to see their favorite athlete or influencer. And the boxers who do want these type of fights only want to box bexuase they are scared of mma. Which is why most of them make their own card. No one watched the undercard of fury vs francis. Everyone is just talking about francis. Boxing is done for.
No influencer boxing isn’t just popular it’s the only reason boxing is still relevant which proves boxing is dead
@@djbobby224the only reason nobody watched is because ppl thought it was an automatic easy win for Fury
@djbobby224 yeah boxing is dead bro what you can't kill a sport thar has been around for years when the ufc gets busted for all the shady shit they do I won't say mma is dead there is always going to Be a fanbase
@@Lospollos24 influencer boxing isnt the reason its popular its the reason only you watch it 😂
Boxing is in great shape. Ngannou just gave it an Adrenalin shot. Suddenly, a brand new contender with KO power for the heavyweight division. Flabby Fury is on the way out.
The problem with Heavyweight boxing is that anything can happen, it’s very inconsistent since any boxer could get seriously hurt off one punch that doesn’t even land on the chin.
Only people that don't know shit about boxing thought Fury would have an easy night with Ngannou. He's most recently an mma fighter known for his hands, and started as a professional kickboxer that relied heavily on boxing. Also, not having seen Francis box before, Tyson had no preparation as far as a strategy.
Boxing is having a great year … TJ wtf is wrong with you bro… usually on point… just cause heavyweight division is a joke outside usyk/Joshua doesn’t mean the rest is‼️
Just look at 3:20-3:30
You’re really gonna say that’s the man that displayed all these requirements for winning.
Man those hugs sure must be vicious in the eyes of the judges
Major w for Francis
He really shocked the world
Great video like usual and also congadulations on 100k
it's refreshing to hear a non biased oppinion from a boxing fan on the matter
everything in boxing is biased nowadays, the judges, the fanbase..
francis won, no matter what the result was, he"s now ranked and has major leverage
