initially designed to take on mines, it has performed very well against ieds too

Will the two parts decouple in a blast?

Yes, above a certain force/impulse hence the design... but a recovery unit can easily replace parts if the damage is not too severe...

Much better to have the pressure vent and maybe decouple, than build up and shatter the keel, penetrate or flip the thing over.
