As good as always, I like your vids and to be honest I didn’t realise that our armoured tank regiment had so many support units. Very precise information!
Glad you enjoyed!
So not every armour servicemen chiong sua 😅
Fun Fact: Armored Fighting vehicles are designed to fight in our streets, field and our neighbourhood heartlands. Nice video by the way
Thanks!
uhmmm i meann still got where else to fight?
i think they are mostly designed to fight in the jungles of peninsular malaysia! as well as malaysian streets, field and neighborhood heartlands!
If these armoured vehicles are in Malaysia well then it's going to be tough. Malaysia has alot of forest and few roads. It's going to be like the Vietnam war or Indonesian revolt. Infantry will have tough time going through the forest as Malaysia is a bigger country then Singapore so losing land to have advantage in battles will be their tactic. Don't forget Malaysia has Sarawak so Singapore has to deal with a Northern and Southern front. The Singapore war machine requires a swift victory just like the german blitzkreig during ww2. However, maybe it's not meant to fight a war of attrition, Malaysia has land connection so they can easily bring in stuff they lack while Singapore would have to rely on their sea transport. Many companies would obviously not want to do business in a war zone so Singapore would lack sufficient equipment and supplies for a long run war. And also Malaysia larger population which mean easier replacement of soldiers, natural resources and a bigger food supply source. This scenario however will not happen because Singapore and Malaysia are part of a military alliance pact with Australia, New Zealand and UK. Also i support peace
Theres a reason why malaysian tanks need to be below 50 tonnes.. yall way above that... didnt think about that did you 😂
Amazing!
Thanks!
Love the video 😘
Thanks!
Nice video 👍
Thanks!
Good video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Recovery vehicles are part of the maintenance platoon, not combat engineers
Exactly
Oops, my bad. Thanks for the clarification.
Hi YG, i’m curious, why doesn’t Singapore upgrade the armour on the gunner’s sight, newer 2A5, 2A6s and 2A7s have their gunners optics raised above the turret so that a hole is not cut in the armour, Singapore is rich enough to upgrade its tanks, why doesn’t it do this?
hi @YG from SG, fellow Singaporean military enthusiast here. I was wondering if you could make a video oh why Singapore had chosen to buy or had interest of buying german military vehicles(Leopard 2SG variant, Panzerschnellbrücke Leguan..etc) instead of the somewhat more effective M1A1 or M1A2 American mbt back then. From I heard from a friend, Germany gave Singapore a discount for their Leopards. Is this true?
Yes it was after the Indonesian purchase of the older Leopard variant, Singapore bought the newer variant at nearly half the price.
Great video, as always! Please, can you do a video about the overall structure/organization of the Singapore Army? -greetings from Finland
Much respect for Finland. You guys held your own in WW2. Much, much respect.
Singapore openly states that it has around 5 divisions.
5 Divisions:
3rd Div, 6th Div, 9th Div, 21st Div and 25th Div essentially intended for offensive purposes- 3,6,9 were the older divisions that have been around for a long time, consisting of a combination of active and reservist units. 21st Div and 25th Div were constituted much later and although these 2 were designated AOR (Army Operations Reserve) they are modelled after US Rapid Deployment Forces and are essentially more mechanized/airborne and had always been considered Singapore's emergency Rapid deployment forces, so in reality they are the better trained and equipped units of the SAF, consisting of mainly of Guardsmen.
Therefore, Singapore admits to 5 mechanized, combined-arms divisions - however, that's really deceptive because the ORBAT (order of battle) of the SAF changes frequently as a matter of policy - in order to confuse any potential opponent as to the true operational strength of the entire force.
Speculation has it that the SAF always has another highly operational Tank/Mechanized division tucked away - perhaps built around the extra independent tank brigade attached to the SAF Amour Center - the designation and construct of this unit changes, and it is top secret. But in the event of war, this division will probably be formed rapidly and will be the core of any offensive force. This is another part of the SAF's effort to maintain the element of surprise in war-time.
Singapore also as another Division like unit designated 2nd PDF (People's Defence Force). There used to be 2 X PDF (designated 1st PDF and 2nd PDF) but these were later restructured so that only 2nd PDF remains - under which something up to 5 or 6 infantry brigades will be attached to at any one time. These tend to be units that consist of older reservists and less combat ready units, and traditionally the PDF is seen as a defensive force to guard the island and deal with civil defence matters.
In the formal SAF divisions ( 3rd ,6th ,9th ,21st ,25th Divisions) where the brigade and regimental units are designated "reservist", one will find multiple "batches" of reservists attached to the same unit. So for example, a SIB (Singapore Infantry Brigade) will have reservists born in 1998 filling its 100% of its ranks as the first line, and another batch born in 1994 filling the second line perhaps at 90% strength. So in fact, if we don't consider the age and physical fitness of the reservists, then most of the reservist brigades are at least 200% or 250% over-strength. This is supported by the fact that Singapore has more than 600,000 reservists (of different ages and combat readiness), to fill the ranks of these 5 or 6 divisions (normally 6 divisions in any country will consist of no more than 90,000 men, so where can all the reservists go, unless each unit is twice or thrice over-strength?). Therefore it is really difficult to say how many units Singapore really has on a Brigade and Regimental level.
In conclusion, on paper Singapore claims to have 3 combined arms divisions and 2 "reserve divisions", it seems that Singapore has 3 combined-arms divisions and 2 standing rapid-deployment divisions (deceptively named Operational Reserves) as well as another shadow Armour Division built around an independent Amour Brigade, plus 1 large oversized infantry division (2 PDF).
The above information can be obtained in the public domain, one only needs to piece them together.
@@JohnSmith-nz2yq Thank you!
@@toraguchitoraguchi9154 Thanks for explaining. I'm familiar with the 3rd, 6th and 9th Combined-Arms Divisions but I've always found the "operational reserve divisions" quite confusing because I've understood that the 21st Division is essentially a rapid reaction division but it's confusingly named a reserve division. I am myself a reservist of the Finnish Army which also prefers to keep its exact wartime organization partially secret. Finnish Army's peacetime organization is mostly tasked with training conscripts so it tells pretty much nothing about the wartime organization. I am a sort of military enthusiast so I would love to know how many brigades, battlegroups, etc. our fully mobilized army would have but apparently it's classified information.
@@tommiterava5955 congrats on NATO admission BTW. Fighting!

Great video! similar type of videos compared to Battle Order CZcams channel.
I wonder what happened to the fleet of M113s that we'd acquired from the IDF after the Yom Kippur War.
Retired and replaced by Hunter AFV
could be in reserve storage.

In a world where big fish eat small fish and small fish eat shrimps. We are a shrimp but we can turn into a poisonous one.
Sad nowadays youngsters take our safety security success and prosperity for granted.
Some ask why serve NS or even worse some bodoh ask why need defence at all 🤦🤦.
Really fed up and tired hearing all this.
Very disheartening to see this type of people
Fact . I’m discriminating no one but most of the toxic and salty comment are from the Malay community & some lowly educated Singaporean Chinese . I’ve been in heated debates with these traitors pass few weeks . Yes , they maybe using the false identity or names but nevertheless I’m sure these are sadly to say our own people
@@CrossbredmiMiyang actually more educated people are not happy with serving ns as compared to less educated individuals as they have to spend more time in NS instead of studying

Malaya has several hidden cannons in Johor pointed at Singapore. A Malaysian soldier told me this when we argued who will win if a fight broke out.
I trust our intelligence services would have already identified them because it is a highly possible scenario. We don't take chances.
They got hidden cannons but we got hidden missiles pointing at all their important facilities.. so it's fair both pointing at each other .. 😆
@@jimchungym dont forget the IADS haha
It’s not surprise to know that they pointed their cannon to the south as they have an artillery unit located in Ulu tiram area.
Cannons? Why need cannons when we have mobile MLRS? You believed his jokes? Lol!
How about the armour recce team? They take the Bronco too?
Singapore Armoured Regiment 👍👍👍 BRAVO!
How many tanks are there in a Heavy Armour Battalion?
Hi, let's just say, we can't discuss about that publicly.
wa seh . finally see 1 structure. for sg battalion.
matbe in futur vids , can show us a graph or chart of the weaspons eachsolider carries. and where each person sits in the vehicle.
like 1 platoon how many vehicle , how many team /sec com .
example in the us , pc dismounted , the tram leader will take over in vehicle command , same as ps on the othe section , the other vehicle in the section will have the sec com dismount etc.
one PLT only have 3 tanks... I was think it would be 5 or 6.. 3 is just too little/small..
Once armoured always armoured!
👍👍👍
Malaysian here, about the Singaporean Leo 2SG? Gaijin please add this vehicle as the squadron vehicle for Chinese tech tree.
*British/German tech tree
Singapore is a Commonwealth member nation that has never been part of China, and I'm sure the British tech tree also encompasses vehicles from other Commonwealth member nations. Also the Leopard 2SG was designed in Germany

Hi yg
Hi Thor
Hardware software are only as good as the people who operate them.
Can forget of spending money on tanks. Now modern warfare, use new high technology like AI, drones, cyber security, satellite jamming to finish off the ill equipped enemies. Can forget of buying F35s. We got many talented NS reservists with advanced technology knowledge. S Sad to say, SAF did not fully utilised their acquired new skills after completion of NS, went to top universities to acquire post graduate degrees in IT, AI etc.
These well educated professional go back to do reservist training based on their old vocation during their NS days fresh after JCs. Waste of their time and all they felt their current skills not fully utilised.
“ Military expert “😹😹😹😹 interesting
Tiny dot nation with wayan army.
Why can’t we have an m1 Abrams it is better
No point getting them without the DU armour.
to take a small puny country, military confrontation is the last measure. haha. and when singapore utilise it military asset for a war, we r dead. that is the horrible unpleasant reality.
your kind of mentality is why we need NS
Are they even Special Forces?
This is Armour not Special Forces.
Why does any one want to put up a country's military equipments and formation in CZcams !? Aren't these supposed to be military secret ?
Hi, as mentioned, all information shared is publicly available and non-classified.
What's discussed here is not confidential information - but the true size of the SAF, the real number of armoured and combined arms units Singapore can field with 24hrs - 48hrs - that's the secret. What we see in the public domain is probably understated - no matter how I count, I always seem to find an extra one or two tank brigades hidden somewhere in the SAF order of battle - now that's the part that matters.
Change the narrator. No Singlish please.

Singapore wayang force
What malaysians say when they're salty:
Which country don't "wayang" when they're capable of doing it?
Showing off technology is a good deterrence. If not, you think Malaysia wouldn't have invade us years ago?
Is because they're scared of our technology.
Oh, and guess what the ones that you can "see" which you say is "wayang" is not even the best of what SG have. Hehehe

Is it even safe to operate in these tanks considering people have DIED while maintaining it. Aloysius Pang’s case should be a cautionary tale that these tanks while lethal to adversaries are not neccessarily build with operators’ safety in mind.
The one that caused Alousius Pang's death wasn't a Leopard 2SG MBT, it was the SPG, they are 2 completely different vehicles
Wait until you heard how many people got injured while maintaining automobiles.
Aloysius Pang's case is sad but it was an human error.
