im commenting as i watch the video but, man the tone and softness of the show really shows everywhere, I'm realizing why I enjoyed it so much as a child. It goes with this calming aura with the sound effects visuals and even steve's voice and energy. it's amazing love it

Joe took over the show from Season 5 to Season 6 (The final two seasons of the Original Series). During the final season, they introduced Blue with her own Sesame Street-like solo show. Blue's Room. Presumably made to desperately pick up better ratings after a decline from age/Joe by tapping into Sesame Street's muppet money.
When Steve and Joe returned, I thought would've been tired of Blue's Clues at this point. I'm glad they appreciate their place on the show.

This deserves so many more views!!! Blues Clues really does deserve analysis like this, and honestly Od recommend going back and rewatching the whole show just because Steve really nails the jokes they give him (in one episode about gardening, Steve has a short existential crisis about there being a clue on a pile of dirt and it’s great 😆). Anyways, phenomenal video, I’m definitely going to check out more of your catalogue

The kind of interactivity on Blue's Clues was definitely way better than Dora the Explorer. Dora would just tell you what to do at any given moment, and then congratulate you for following orders. And then at the end of the episode, she asked multiple-choice questions that were supposed to test what you learned, except the wrong answers were so dumb that it was an insult to children's intelligence. And besides, she didn't really need you. "You have to say 'Backpack'!" No we don't, Dora. You have hands. You can open the backpack yourself. Or the backpack would say "Tell Dora she needs this item." Ok, she's right here, backpack; why can't YOU tell her? "Tell this character '¡Cuidado!'" You're right next to him, Dora! Tell him yourself!
They didn't need you for anything. The problem was in the stories themselves. The writers couldn't figure out how to incorporate the interactivity. They thought they could just write stories in which Dora does everything herself, and then change them afterward, adding in moments where she pauses and lets you do things she's perfectly capable of doing.
Now Steve, he would say, "Let me know when you see a clue." He trusted kids to remember what they needed to do, and do it when the time came. Or he'd ask multiple choice questions that at least gave kids a little bit of challenge. A little challenge helps kids grow smarter. And Steve needed us. He was lost without us. He wouldn't have been able to find the clues, solve the little side puzzles, and figure out what the clues meant, without us. Those writers understood how to do interactivity. They wrote stories where you were necessary.
Although... why couldn't the chicks' friends just say, "Hey, I'm right here"? Well, at least it gave children that little bit of challenge. The core was so strong and Steve was so charismatic that the show could overcome flaws like these.
    I did it. I cried.
Now hang on. You said that Steve has never said he wanted the job of hosting Blue's Clues. And that's just not true. I'm trying to fetch an old version of his website where he says so. Yeah, took some digging, because I didn't remember the address, but I found it. If you check the faq from Steve's Web Page, steveswebpage.com, which is not his website anymore, hasn't been since August 2009: as far back as March of 2002, it said this:
why did you leave the show?
i did 100 episodes of blues clues
and i'm extraordinarily proud of the work.
but (deep breath) i really felt it was either
stay with the show forever (and really forever)
    or make a break.
    it was a
    very
    very
    very
    very
    very
    very
    very
    tough decision,
and i'm very proud of the work i did.
There you have it. From the man himself.

Now that I've thought about, I have came to an additional conclusion to what I already said a few months ago. In the event that this country finds itself in turmoil, heartache, misery, or any other form of chaos (like we have for the last two years), Steve would be the perfect adult in the room. When the first inception of Blue's Clues was on from 1996 to 2004, here's what was going on: Bill Clinton got impeached for getting blown in the Oral Office, Columbine happened, fears of the Y2K bug were high, there was the confusion surround the 2000 Presidential Election between Bush and Gore, the Wars in Afghanistan and (though Steve was gone by this point) Iraq had begun, and not only was the show on when September 11th happened, but the show was filmed in NYC's Tribeca district (which is in lower Manhattan and just a few blocks away from the World Trade Center). Steve would be the perfect adult in the room to address the nation, not some of these politicians in DC. Steve would also be the perfect adult in the room considering the fact that most people born between 1991 and 2005 grew up with Steve as the adult in the room. I was one of the lucky ones because I was born in April of 2000, so I really missed the 3 and a half years of the series.
Lastly, when I said that Steve and the show will never know how much of an impact he had on an entire generation of kids, myself included, I wasn't just talking about those who watched the show. Allow me to explain. I said that Sesame Street and Mister Rogers Neighborhood helped grow kids educational television in the 70s and 80s while Steve and Blue's Clues helped shape kids educational television in the 90s and 00s. If you look at other shows that came on after Blue's Clues, you will see that a lot of them had similar elements towards Blue's Clues. On Nick Jr. alone, there was Dora the Explorer, Team Umizoomi (which featured Joe in it), and Bubbles Guppies. Not only on Nick Jr., but also their competitors were inspired by them. On Playhouse Disney/Disney Jr., the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse had inspirations from Blue's Clues. On PBS Kids, there was a show called Super Why. Not only did Super Why have a ton of similarities to Blue's Clues, but one of the people who worked on Super Why also worked on Blue's Clues. In fact, going a step further, one of Super Why's production companies was called "Out of the Blue", an homage to the worker's former project. So even if you didn't watch Blue's Clues, you probably watched one of the other shows I mentioned. That's what I mean when I say that Steve influenced an entire generation of kids, regardless of if you watched Blue's Clues or not, and regardless of if you watched Nick Jr. or not.

I think a lot of us as kids felt like it was his fault, even though it obviously wasn’t at all. But I know as a kid it felt that way. I think he also just signified the end of something we loved, so we attach those negative feelings onto him. It’s not fair to him at all, he doesn’t deserve it. That’s just how it feels.

@@TheBCJR.. I think it's because it's been enough years. the kids who watch now arent likely attached to either steve or joe. and the adults who where have grown up and hopefully arent that petty about it. However, what also might help is knowing how involved the 2 previous hosts are in the new show. it steve and joe are seen a few times each season (there being 2 full and the third being aired now) and with it being the 25th anivisarry they are more relevant than ever.
compare that to when steve left for joes 2 seasons steve only showed up once or twice and it was a while until he actually did. (or at least it seemed like that) .
over all it most likey the circumstances surrounding each specific show and changing of hosts that makes josh less hated over all. weather its desverd or not.

@SimonsRants yeah well it's just like Zoe Lee only existing as the nice queen bee she has alot more hate than Joe has as a sibling replacement I really hate chole I hated her when I just got introduced to her I don't like mean girls I don't care if they are sassy or interesting and yeah Thomas did a favor for me of destroying her superhero carrer I don't care how many people like her and hate Zoe and for Joe I'm glad Steve left so we can have Joe in the show and we don't have to deal with having to see him with being bald however as though I understand why Steve left I have no idea why he would want to be bald I mean yeah his hair from the first season is terrible but come on your recent hair is nice and also I don't understand why couldn't Steve just get recasted and the problem with Josh he just came out of nowhere we didn't get an episode were we just meet him and he comes out as the new host planning we got that with Joe so why not Josh? The very first episode of the reboot I think it should have been the only one with Joe as the host and he plans on leaving the blue's clues house to work at the present store just like Steve planning to leave for college and then he decides to have his cousin take over and yeah if the snack time remake were to be named for the theme of the episode it would have been snack Time with blue possible and it's not fair that we see Joe on alot of blue's clues and you episodes while Steve only appeared in 2 and the new movie
